I never heard of Whites Boots. After seeing this video and seeing how much love and hard work gets put into a pair of boots I will definitely be buying one.

Great vid and wonderful boots. You notice the quality of a good pair of boots at 8o'clock at night sitting in your shelter boots off comfortable in dry socks after all day in puddles, wet grass, slush and snow ! Great video . Ive been wearing Whites since I bought my first pair 50 years ago , working as a lineman in the Colorado Rockies between Aspen and Vale . Some of the hardest work in the world in rough terrain . Nothing but White's could stand up to that abuse . Have always had a pair of their boots . Wearing a pointed toe packer now that's been rebuilt twice and should last the rest of my life . Yep kids that how America used to work , build long lasting quality product that last .
@@aeriontargaryen1162 I bet you feel like such a grandiose man trying to belittle others over their chosen careers. Go be a self conscious man elsewhere. This is simply appreciation for well made footwear.
When I was a boy the store-shop was downtown and you could watch the guys working by looking in the window my brother and I would always run up to the windows look in and wave to the guys working away cobbling shoes… in our family is was tradition to get measured and have a pair of white’s made to fit when you hit 18.. I still have that first pair… You could sent then to whites from anywhere in the world they would fix them or make you a new pair then send em back, whether up in north Alaska or western Ireland my boots always came back like new.. glad to see whites still operating
Very cool. I'm definitely going to buy a pair of White's. I'm eyeing the Millwood. I wish you guys offered a Chelsea version. If later you do, I'll go ahead and buy those too. Already have 2 Red Wing boots, laced and Chelsea.
My only problem with my Packers is the stitching on the bottom of the sole is not sunk in so it wears out crazy fast. They need to cut a groove around the rim of the sole and put the stitching in that. It's simple to do and makes the stitching last years longer.
I was searching for a comment like yours, this was my first thought when i saw that the thread is on top of the sole. It's so bad and doesn't look ambitious.
@Travis I still buy whites simply because they are still American made by American craftsmen. Many say the quality has gone out the window but I don’t think so at all.
Its ironic, these were hard, long hours, easy to get jobs 50 years ago, and america was the dream. Today, these are skilled labor, hard to get jobs, and america is falling apart.
That and stupid wage laws these people should be allowed to work as many hours as they want without any interference from the government if I could do this job I would work like 60-70 hours a week easy the main problem is overtime and government regulations
So the suturing under is directly exposed when you’re walking. That’s basically asking for it to be cut or damaged making it not last long since it is the main thing that holds it together and not the glue.
that's a McKay lock stitch construction, even when the threads that are visible wear out, it is still pinned in place at the rubber. If you look at rebuilt boots you'll see that the mckay stitch is still visible despite the rubber tread being completely gone.
Your Hillyard model could easily be made for tactical use if you used a rubber channeled insole, polymer shank, urethane foam filler, rubber midsole stormwelted and a vibram 121P or 122P Foura outsole in Coyote color please. Also consider making a lace to toe boot like the Bellevile C775 with the formentioned construction. Also please remember to leave room for a removable insole by using a leather one during the lasting process like Nicks do.
i dont see whites ever filling their boots with low quality synthetic materials that fall apart after 1yr. thats how the cheapest lowest quality boots are built. bellevilles last a yr and u buy a new pair , whites are resolable and far more durable that about 95% of any tac boots as well as more waterproof. the only thing they arent doing is the practically nonexistent drop thats in bellevilles and some other tac boots , however whites arent built to be a barefoot boot
I've wondered about the history of the Hathorn boot line of White's boots. Are they a lower priced boot? Made differently? History of Hathorn boots and how they came to be affiliated with White's boots.
Hathorn boots when i bought them were the "stitchdown" version of whites. Cheaper easier process than the normegian welt, sadly how nicks, Jks, and franks make all their boots now, yet still charge a lot. Whites are the only ones that still do the handsewn welts
@@shakentosser Franks will do a hand welt or Nicks just have to ask for it Jk doesn’t though and the Hathorn Hi-Lines are almost as expensive as the standard stitch down boots now.
Buenas tardes un saludo desde Bogotá Colombia admiro mucho su trabajo, me gustaría aprender este arte soy novato,me pueden hacer el favor de informar como se llama esa máquina que cose gracias
There is a cobbler who used to work for either Nick's or White's and he stared his own boot company, I think it starts with a J maybe. He makes similar quality boots. Do you know what brand that is?
The bottom of the last (what the boot is built around) is metal, and they are tack nails, so when they hit that, they bend and basically lock into place.
Dont understand why all these small producer, hand made boot makers are not first wetting the leather before lasting. You dont take the stretch out by getting the leather wet before lasting, when they get broken in you end up with sloppy loose fitting shoes or boots.
