  • Cyclocross season is over, so it is time to flip the Santa Cruz Stigmata from cross mode to gravel mode. Made a few changes to the bike this winter to better optimize this bike for gavel cycling.

The similar themed kit is probably my favorite.

I’ve been thinking about Garmin XC100 power meter pedals, but bounce back and forth on the necessity vs price. I’m not the type to use a power meter for structured training. I don’t really “train”, I just ride.
But I do think they would be useful for pacing my effort for the longer endurance MTB events I have planned this year. Just not sure it’s worth the extra cost vs using HR.

One of the biggest reasons I like is for pacing on multi hour rides. Super helpful. Probably less so on MTB given the inevitable power fluctuations but guess if you just look at your average… might be useful.

I really want to do a power meter on the TT bike. I’ll be curious to hear how this one works out, not familiar with it. I was thinking going the Garmin pedal route.

Been good… on the TT bike I’d recommend Favero Assioma. They have both a Look and Shimano versions and are quite a bit cheaper than Garmin. Tho the Garmins can be swapped between pedal types (ie MTB type cleats).

I like how that power meter is tucked away. How long do you get out of a battery?

      SRAM says over 400 hours.

      Also only adds 40grams

Sorry lanky. I want to buy a stigmata. I don’t know much about this things and watched your videos many many times. Why do you change to a winter mode?

I’m using the stig as my cyclocross race bike… so for race season it’s skinny tires and a narrow 1x gear range. It’s not really ideal for the rest of the year, so I put bigger tires on and a bigger cassette for easier climbing and riding during non race season. Wide tires also good when the roads are slick.

@@TheLankyCyclist thank you. I want to buy this bike, I am just unsure if I will be able to push those big tires down the ride, I can barely push skinny tires.
