This was just after Idiot Abroad's first season. Carl has just had his horizons forcibly expanded for the first time in his life, and his primary memories of the experience are how irritating and unusual Chinese people are. hahaha. He'd need a thousand years to get down to the deeper bits.

Made even better by Ricky staying in character during his rant, his expressions killed me
I love Karl, he's actually very real. His insight and experience gives him a very real honest intelligence of the world. That combined with a mix misery and British mood makes him truly hilarious.
Karl is the greatest person ever created. Perfectly pure in every facet....
Please make episode 2. Episode 2.
+Joshua Smith Seriously!?
+Joshua Smith In a lot of reasons I can see why he'd feel that way...
show us proof!!
+Joshua Smith can you just find it for me , I'm on my phone so I can't really use ctrl-f.
+Joshua Smith I'm so sorry, pardon my impoliteness. But thank you for linking me the reddit post. Such a shame that Karl, Ricky and Steve don't talk anymore😢.
As an English teacher in a foreign country I can confirm this is how a lot of my lessons feel
What sort of things are you teaching them?! About purchasing a back, sack and crack waxing?!
His face @11:00 of acceptance after Karl still made him wait 10 minutes in this fictional world. Beautiful.
Sad the whole day because of a breakup, until I came across this video: I went from one extreme to another for a while. Thanks guys!!
Stay strong bruv , it gets better
Nah you just dodged a bullet
Karl would honestly be fantastic at improv - he just jumps right into any scenario and rolls with it in his own unique way.
As Dougie in 'Derek' he's fucking superb!
Karl's ability to play the straight man is unparalleled. He can hold that face all day and put Ricky over the edge a couple dozen times. He's just so good at that face. I love it.
He’s not acting or “playing”. That’s Karl
That’s not an act. He’s a really weird guy haha
That's just Karl lmao, no act involved
@@marigoldbells9581 Nah I think at this point there is an act involved. You can't get through the amount of shows he did without playing off it abit
@@TheGamerThing All you're really admitting here is you've never met someone from Manchester before
When Karl took his initial sip of faux tea and said ‘It’s alright, that.’
Yaaa???? You forgot to finish your thought man! What about it?! Dont leave us hangin!!
@@danm2084 I'm assuming Ryan appreciates Karl's dedication to his props
Most people say the same when they're made a cup of tea in England, so he was very much dedicated to the fake cup of tea.
We all know there was too much milk in that tea
Go on
Watched this about 50 times and it still kills me everytime 🤣
Being able to see Karl rather than just hearing his voice adds a whole other dimension to how funny he is.
Nathan Lewis watch him on first season of Derek. He’s brilliant there.
Watch An Idiot Abroad. Classic
You've not seen idiot abroad?
I come back to this video every 6 or so months, and it still cracks me up. I really want more episodes!
Yeah. Ricky's laugh is borderline evil, but it's damn infectious. More lessons please!
As an American my favorite bit is Karl’s reply to being asked if he would like a cup of tea; “I’d love one, gasping.” Never would have entered my mind to answer in that manner and I love it.
he says "godspeed"
@@meyague Go to your room, and don’t come out till you are ready to behave.
@@meyagueI came back to watch this again. After watching, TH-cam suggested the captioned version of this video on Ricky’s channel. The caption was “I’m gasping.” Could have sworn it was just “gasping.” You can come out of your room now. Best to ya.
I'm British and I can 100% confirm that Karl say's 'I'm gasping', not 'godspeed' as some div has suggested.
@meyague if anybody sounds like that when they're saying "godspeed" then their accent needs to be deleted, he's clearly saying "gasping"
It's criminal that this wasn't continued.
15:03 I'm sorry but his laugh here is what pure joy sounds like. Never change Ricky.
It just doesn't get any better than this.....
I absolutely love to watch these two. I remember when this showed up. I laughed out loud. My wife thought I was going crazy.
5 years ago when I was bad at English, I happened to watch this with caption in my language. This helped me a lot learn terms for testicles
As Chinese I've learned a lot from this, esp. about someone who smells and milk and oranges. Thanks Ricky and Karl!
Do you think White British people smell of milk?
Don't forget the balls. 😉
Hahaha 😂
Were you quite 'airy as a kid?
I love how Karl keeps going back to the Chinese.
are we focusing on the Chinese? NO. Well we should.
The Chinese know fish really well
This was just after Idiot Abroad's first season. Carl has just had his horizons forcibly expanded for the first time in his life, and his primary memories of the experience are how irritating and unusual Chinese people are. hahaha. He'd need a thousand years to get down to the deeper bits.
LMAOOO
And eventually the Japanese
Ricky knows exactly how to get the funniest out of Karl, he's brilliant at planting seeds in Karl's mind then letting him run with it.
Seeing Karl Pilkington smile genuinely makes me happy.
The back, crack and sack skit was simply incredible. Haven't laughed like that in a while, actual tears hahaha
Ricky: "Teabag okay?"
Karl: "...wot?"
6:43 best bit that
that "wot" was so sincere
literally scrolled down and read this as he said it
Ok, to those saying "Karl is not playing, that's just him being himself", you are only partially right.
While he is just being natural most of the time, when Ricky forces the role upon him, his ability to improvise and keep the straight face while doing it is what I find hilarious in this particular video. Like he instantly transforms into the role he is given. He is obviously the strange individual, but I'd also say a natural born comedian. Doesn't need to try hard being funny, he just is.
6:43 i love this moment and Karl’s reaction..
Ricky: What’s a kipper?
Karl: *stares into space and contemplates his existence*
"Rip off"
"Conned"
"Taken advantage of"
"Done up like a kipper"
"Look at this foreigner, I done him up like a kipper."
8:20 - His eyeballs literally dance in their sockets while the rest of his face goes completely still. I've never seen a human being in a state of such abject confusion. He's like an Asimov robot that Ricky just hard-locked by asking it a paradoxical question.
@@Rutherford_Inchworm_III he's like a 90's hard drive... where you can hear it spin up, the little lights on the front blink furious, and a few seconds later you get a result.
10 years ago....bring them back!!🙏!we need these podcasts in 2023! Literally made me laugh so much, tea went everywhere😂😂😂
Ricky: What's a Kipper?
Karl: It's a fishy type of fish.
🤣🤣🤣
09:08 Karl getting genuinely annoyed during the roleplay scenario "Look at it! Look at the fish!"
When Ricky said “I don’t speak English” Karl actually looked seriously annoyed lmao
"Where. Wear."
"One word, two meanings."
@!? I'm wearing a jumper!
@@saam77
Where've you been?!
Same sound, at least. If they were the same word they'd be spelled the same.
Ricky’s face when he said that
@@MrHotstepper89 Brilliant.
I can come back once a year to this and cry my eyes out every time ... this is HILARIOUS !
Why have I only just seen this? This has to be the best video ever.
+Ben Wignall Smack in the face.
I think I deserve it haha
+Cletus1085 +Cletus1085 thump
+Ben Wignall You should search out the channel 'World of KP' and watch the Podcasts, Seasons 1, 2 and 3.
+Ben Wignall I wonder whom it is more fun to watch for -native or non-native speakers:D
I know everyone says this about every video but this literally is my most favourite video ever
7 months later, I still agree!
Mine too. Literally!
Anyone notice how long karl holds that fake cup of tea. hahaha
