I think the Final Swing suit in NWH is fantastic. It even has the shiny blue to replicate the comic shading, as the Fortnite skin does. It's just straight up a classic suit.
I think its hard to assure actors that they’re not Gonna be made fun of when wearing some of those original costumes, with Captain America you can just imagine him running around on a battle field with people dying left and right while wearing one of least intimidating costumes out there, but in Fortnite, sure, go for it, Fortnite has always been a goofy game, that can add ANYTHING without it being weird or unappealing.

Gonna be honest, I'm quite surprised at how good I think the Marvel characters' costumes look in Fortnite. The more alien/xenomorph details on Venom look great, and that Green Goblin armor is honestly the best design I think I've seen for the Green Goblin in general.
I always used to say “say what you want about the actual game, fortnite does a really good job with the skins. Like a vast majority of them look really good”
The Green Goblin one is SO amazing, it’s literally comic goblin except it takes the 2002 Spider-Man mask but with the ears and hat like the comics and real yellow eyes but the hat is designed INTO the 2002 mask it’s so well done. To me it’s perfect.
@@velocidellix the only thing I would change/add is add the little side hanging parts to the purple hat idk I feel like it looks slightly better personally
For Cap’s MCU suits, I honestly think the Smithsonian suit (in Winter Soldier) is his best design. It’s got the balance of comic book and realism, the colours are bright, the design flows together nicely, the grey sections blend smoothly into the blue. In essence, it’s a more streamlined upgrade to his WW2 suit, and it looks beautiful
I think you should also acknowledge DC movies costumes and how recently they've become more colorful like the recent Suicide Squad, Shazam, and Aquaman. I particularly loves all the suits in Aquaman.
I've never read an Aquaman comic but seeing the green and gold outfit in the movie made me so happy. It's such a good contrast after the suits they started out the DCEU with (even Wonder Woman who had a pretty good one)
There's also the costumes from Zack Snyder's films, namely for characters like Superman and Batman. I love the alien uniform look they for Superman and the cloth-based aesthetic for Batman (it's also the first live action Batman to have the black and grey color scheme, which I genuinely love). And I don't think I have to explain Wonder Woman's design, that one is just iconic
I quite like the MCU suits though I do see where your coming from. It's mostly Spider-Man's costume in the MCU (up until recently) that I always felt like they skimped out on, but hey I like cramming unnecessary lines and panels on suits to make them "modern" so that's probably why I'm not as bothered as others are.

I feel like Fortnite has a bit more leeway when it comes to sillier designs, because it’s a video game with a cartoony art style, whereas the MCU is made of live action movies, where things have to be slightly more realistic looking to take seriously. All this to say, I don’t think that this is the most fair comparison. Not saying that the MCU can’t improve their designs, however I think it’s not too fair to compare a video game to live action movies. Plus, I don’t think it’s a problem for the films to make their own version of the classic suits from the comics, as long as you can tell it’s the characters from the comics. For example, I’m fine with the Spider-Man suit from the end Spider-Man Far From Home, in fact that’s one of my favorite of his suits from these films. The reason I like it is because it looks cool, and it looks like Spider-Man. Do I prefer the suits that are more like the comics, sure, however I like that suit fine, and I’d be satisfied if he kept it at the end of No Way Home. However, if Spider-Man ended up looking like Black Noir from The Boys…Marvel and I would have a problem lol.
Mcu designs are boring and overdesigned. The simpler or pre-upgrase suits in the mcu to me have always looked better than the upgraded ones. Spiderman's iron spider suit is hideous, Thor's latest design has wayy too much going on, etc.
@@Bopmyglizz if that's how you feel, that's all good. My point was that comparing the designs in the MCU to the fortnite ones seems a bit unfair to me, cause one is more cartoony and silly than the other.
thanks for being the only person here with common sense and logic. people don’t understand that it would look really off if every costume was ripped straight from the comics. for example in wandavision they showed classic costumes for wanda and vision and they looked really stupid. it’s because it wouldn’t look good in real life. i’m also glad they changed captain americas costume from the avengers because it looked too bright and silly
@@alex_trem0im 2 years late but the suits from wandavision arent good examples to prove your point, thats like bringing up the adam west batman suit to show why blue would be a silly color to put on a live action batman suit. theyre intentionally silly, if they actually put some proper effort into it, it could probably look really nice
There's just this careful balance that has to be made. You don't want it to look really silly and stupid with bright colors, that doesn't mesh well in real life settings. But you want to stay faithful to the material. I think they did well in the new Doctor Strange movie for example.
Also I would say that Fortnite has it a lot easier with these designs. They have a cartoony art design and they could probably make anything and it'll look normal in the game.
All superhero costumes look silly. The medium is silly, that's the whole appeal of it. Know what looks sillier than just taking the page and making it a costume? Trying to make it 'gritty', like the leather X-Men biker gear, tacticool desaturated 'military' suits and recently, the sci-fi lines everywhere, covered in panels, nanotech aesthetic suits. They all look embarrassing because that's when they stem from, embarrassment over the source material. If you're going to a movie about a comic book character, why wouldn't you expect them to look like the comic book character? And if the costumes are being made 'realistic' to appeal to an audience which doesn't like these characters or movies, why? They're not going to see the movie anyway. Spider-Man is bright red and blue, the X-Men are bright yellow and navy blue, the Hulk is ooze green. They're not black, or brown, or grey, or desaturated. None of that ever looks good or will ever look good.
Honestly the Far From Home suit is my absolute favourite because I feel like it perfectly balances simplicity and intricacy. The red and black combo is just perfection imo.
I actually like how there using the comic suits in MCU with Spiderman and a few chars I can't spoil I honestly love it but I agree with your statements
@@bluehero-96 the other suits were just techy. they weren't the absolute worst. if you looked at him, you would be able to tell that he's spider-man. his homecoming suit was bright, people just didn't like it because of the lines and i guess the black straps that he had? i personally loved the homecoming suit. the people that dislike the lines and all that other shit are nitpicking at the smallest details. if anything, they add to the suit. these are live action movies that are meant to take place in our world. they're going to be a tad bit realistic.
@@mxghty0 It's not just nitpicky. The details added to the homecoming suit do not benefit the design, but make it too busy and uncharacteristic. It's also not bright, actually. There's also a difference between being "realistic" and being visibly tech-ed out the rear, neither of which is characteristic of Spider-man. Even his Spider-armors was made to be subtle with their tech.
MCU is not realistic, specially the later suits, like I can get behind stuff like the first couple Iron Man suits or the Captain America first avenger suit, those are actually realistic depictions and that's why they're considered good, but then you go with all the characters having nanotech and all these extra complex suits that look like a hell to even maintain, also these Fortnite designs can be well replicated in live action
If there's something that Hollywood needs to understand is that superheroes are supposed to be COLORFUL, not color drained and boring and I think fortnite doing superhero skins is perfect due to fortnite already having a colorful artstyle.
Only way to appeal the Green Goblin suit is by making him an actual Goblin, like Osborne turns into a Goblin and wears a purple outfit to combat Spiderman.
Marvel is actually starting to bring out the comic accurate costumes. Look at the Thor trailer, it shows when he was a teen in a 100% comic accurate suit. The new Spider-Man suit is very faithful to the comics. Sam Wilson’s captain America is almost ripped from the pages. Marvel is slowly dipping into the comic suits here.
The problem with that is now people are claiming those suits to be too colorful and vibrant. It's literally what they wanted, yet they complain a whole lot. People fr can't be happy with anything.
Yeah and also Dr. Strange, White Vision, and, although her costume was kind of color drained, Scarlet Witch has a more comic accurate costume than before

I agree with you Only one thing The green goblin costume is meant to be goofy When you look at it in bright daylight with him fighting spiderman over bananas or something it looks really dumb But then you get to the story arcs and see how much that silly costume changes when the darkness come in and the pain he causes
If I’m being honest here, when it comes to the Green Goblin’s outfit I think it should look goofy and silly to help sell the idea that he’s a crazy man. I’m of the mindset that the sillier you can make a character that’s supposed to be out of their mind the better it demonstrates how crazy and deranged they are.
This Green Goblin design is so awesome. Legitimately the best Goblin design I’ve seen. The Sam Raimi Goblin design always pissed me off because he just looked like a weird green man. The mask was cool, but other than that it looked so weird, and there wasn’t any purple to contrast the green (yes I know he has a purple sheen on him but that doesn’t count, it’s barely noticeable). The Fortnite Design captures the idea of Green Goblin’s classic design perfectly and makes it still feel real. I could imagine a crazed billionaire infused with a super serum wearing that outfit. If the MCU ever does a Norman of their own I really hope they take a look at the Fortnite design. Same thing with Venom, his Fortnite design would work perfectly on the big screen.
The purple just doesn't work imo. It's good for cartoons, but not for Live action. I always thought the GG Suit in the comics looked a bit strange. The only ones i liked was how he was drawn between 2000-2004 or so. I really do like the Raimi GG design. It felt realistic without looking too goofy. I really do like the mask a lot too. And yeah, I'm a fan of the Purple sheen. I think they could have integrated some blacks on it, but welp.

I never really thought about it that way for how you explained it. Awesome job. One thing I really like about the fortnite skins is that they just do the most random heroes sometimes that you would not expect
I’m not really a big fan of MCU but I think that you completly miss the point with your claims about changing the suits and overdesigning them. You can’t accurately transition a lot of comic book costumes to live action because they weren’t designed for live action. They lack any texture, therefore cool-looking but simple suits like symbiote Spidey or black and gold Wasp end up looking like pijamas. Fortnite skins look good and they embrace the original silliness of the source material but they exist in styleised cartoony enviorment. You can’t really compare mediums like that
@@spider-man500 but it would look goofy af and couldn't really be taken seriously in serious or sad moments, most of the designs at least, i think could work
Someone might've already posted about this, but part of the reason for the Reds-thing; on Cap, is that brighter/organgier reds don't film super well. Unless they're filmed straight-on in well lit spaces they have a tendency to skew themselves within the refractive interpolations of modern digital cameras. It's the actual reason Bay put flames on the front of Optimums; to break up the stagnant red.
Personally disagree, realistically if you wear any thing long enough it will get darker; it is realistic even if the story doesn’t make sense. like a man being frozen in ice and surviving it makes no sense but if things don’t look right visually if it’s to bright you can’t get behind it. your not watching a comic book it should be as if these characters exist in our world and work by our rules even if they don’t.
I really love the MCU suits I don't see how you could be hating on them. Also the MCU has definitely been making their suits more comic-accurate so I don't understand why you say the suits don't look comic-accurate.
I think captain america works, because although he's a superhero, hes a soldier, and so darker, more drab colours fit better within the universe. However, I'm not a fan of alot of the mcu suits by comparison (not saging I dislike the mcu, just some of tje costumes)
@@spider-man500 if that's the case he should also be constantly shooting guns like that one guy from thor ragnarok, drinking beer and talking about american football whilst always reciting his amendments in an argument.
@@spider-man500 But he's not. His relationship with America is stressed throughout the later movies, it's reflected in his stripes. During winter soldier, the stripes are cut because he's working for shield, and uncovered shady shit among his own country. The next time the stripes are cut, he's considered a terrorist and outlaw by his own country, so they become cut again. When he turns into nomad, his entire star dissapears because he's a "soldier without a country", no captain america. It makes sense
1:11 costume looks fine here, because it’s military looking and makes sense for the character currently. I do agree that it lacks red and white though. In terms in saturation, I’d be easier to shoot a guy in saturated clothing, plus battle damage, rolling around in dirt, and maybe even rewashing the suit, causing faded colors? I also do love the scales on venom. It’s not my headcanon, because venom is a goopy symbiote. In agent venom, he has edges and armor sure, but even that bothers me. The green goblin suit in fortnite is boring to me there’s also not as much green as I’d like there to be.
It’s simple, comic book suits look really bad in live action. You can’t do the exact comic book suit cause it will look silly and out of place in this more realistic marvel world. I know it’s not realistic but it still tries to feel like the environment is. And that’s what is great about the MCU
I think the answer is way simpler than this essay, costumes for comics don’t work irl cuz they look ridiculous but with Fortnite’s already cartoony look it’s way easier to adapt it to their game. I personally also enjoy Fortnite but still fucking hate it for all the branddeals and just ridiculous shit they did that makes the game so different from the fun simple game it used to be.
Star-Lord’s Fortnite design is mostly intended to be inaccurate because it’s contextualised as a Fortnite character cosplaying as Quill, not Quill himself. The character cosplaying as him is the “Drift” character from Chapter 1 Season 5’s Battle Pass. Other skins at the time did the same thing like the Black Widow skin using Headhunter or Batman using Jonesy.
@@PeiceofNick 4 month old comment but the Star-Lord skin was among the first marvel items ever added before Fortnite really did collabs like this and is called "Star-Lord Outfit" instead of just "Star-Lord". It uses Drift's model as a base most visibly his hair instead of being a completely unique model.
@@PeiceofNickThe game itself. You can literally compare the face models or the hair and see it’s the exact same, not to mention the way the skins are named. “Star-Lord *Outfit*” is different to “Spider-Man” or “The Hulk” where those are contextualised as the actual characters. “Black Widow *Outfit*” is different to “Wolverine” or “Iron Man” where those are contextualised as the actual characters. I do retract my statement regarding Batman’s skin since the game does actually contextualise that version as literally being Batman, even if it uses a similar naming convention to the Star-Lord and original Black Widow outfit, as well as the similar reuse of assets.
I totally agree with you, the mcu films would look much better with bright colors, I do enjoy the weird lines they make instead of just plain suits, I think it makes them look sort of more protective, but the colors are just a little off, and that's why I am excited to see the next movie of tom holland's spider man, cause in the post credits scene we see him with yet another outfit, but this one seems to be a lot more similar to the classic suit, and with bright colors too
i think the reason for them doing such a great job is their cartoon'ish artstyle, so they are not afraid of re-inventing and picking references from the source material unlike Marvel Studios
And dc. Supermans design in fortnite is like second best in all superman designs, injustice superman is just godly. The fortnite batman skin is really cool too.
Captain America losing the red and the flagness is exactly the point of the later costumes, as he loses his faith in the government he once trusted blindly is a military soldier, but great video still, I lost my shit at "I LOVE FORTNITE" lmao
People say Fortnite is cringe and sometimes it is, but what they forget is that sometimes cringe is fun and cool. for example, "MEMES, the DNA of the soul"
I'm disappointed you didn't speak of the chin strap for cap. It is one thing that I think cap needs because the chin hanging out always looks ridiculous.
My take is: if a child can draw the essential design of the costume then it’s done right. I like mcu Spider-Man suits since despite their over design at times, it’s never too much I feel, it always feels like it’s just added detail. I can always imagine a kid drawing the essential elements of the suits. Cannot say the same about some Thor and cap suits
Now when it comes to fortnite for me I've had an interesting history with it. I think I started playing the season after the reaper/wick prototype skin was in the battle pass, I've actually had really fond memories about the events, the times I won when I thought I was dead meat, and overall how hard I laugh when I see some die stupid or I die myself. Granted it is a millennial game so the emotes that are based off of trends always irritate me and sometimes the weapons are unbalanced, but overall I've enjoyed the time I've put into fortnite. As for how they've handled the designs of Marvel and DC heroes, they always nail it. From Deadpool to Venom they've always hit the mark, the only skin I sadly don't love enough to play is the Thor skin, aside from that I completely agree their designs are better. At this point all focus in the MCU is going to more comic accurate designs even though they should've done that from the start, I get in a realistic setting the original costumes as they are could seem a bit cheap and goofy but I mean if go online and look up fan designs for characters they always find a way to balance the practical and the comic book accuracy. The problem with the MCU these days is they now have an agenda to push instead of a direction to go for the next 10 years and between Moon Knight being a God awful representation of the character and them making She-Hulk an Amy Schumer type character, I don't think the MCU is gonna have many loyal fans given how inaccurate they're portraying their characters. Quality over Quantity.
8:54 some comic versions of venom have had that scaly design, most notably the period when flash thompson (as agent venom) worked with the guardians of the galaxy, its not something they created but its still really nice
Nah MCU suits are awesome, I can understand preferring something else but never would I think someone would find the iron spider to look bad. That, and so many other things.
bro the reason the venoms look different is because of the different universes. The eddy venom has yet to meet peter so he basically never gets that swagger. venom's swagger and demeaner change exponentially when he's connected to peter. hence the spider on the back.,
Its pretty nice that they are giving comics more love than the MCU. The Daredevil suit looks like it is ripped straight from the Chip Zdarsky run that has been going on. Love it
im pretty sure because it is lol i was recently reading the comic and opened up fn a few days ago and the skin is almost 1:1 aside from maybe lighting but thats honestly just fortnite
I really don't like Fortnite, but I can't deny that they have some really badass suit designs that add stuff while being extremely faithful to the original design. I really don't understand why the higher ups at the movie studios don't get this.
This is not all true. In nwh they made a comic suit and they made electro suit without making it look ridiculous and iron man, tror, captain america, black vidow, black panther, moon knight, and more
@@yucelonmaz2 Yeah but those are the lesser half of the MCU We’re talking about the others, Civil War, FFH, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and the list goes on Although Black Widow had the line problem too
I tend to disagree with the criticism of the MCU costumes being overdesigned, I actually think a lot of the MCU costumes are outstandingly great, but one thing is for sure. Fortnite's designs are absolutely top tier. One thing I'd like to point out about the MCU designs is the people who say they don't like all the vertical lines etc. That's a valid opinion, but I actually think that some people don't realize that the purpose of the vertical lines is to give the costume a slimming effect, which is a huge goal of superhero costume designers. That's why I think a lot of them are so masterfully designed.
I feel like overall in lots of shows and tv they are starting to shift from the dark and techno aesthetics to the originals , you have Spidey and flash and iron man and Captain America and Ms Marvel all getting pretty comic accurate suits .
Don't get me wrong, I really love the fortnite designs as much as anyone, but it's important to understand why they work. Fortnite is an extremely colorful game, so these outfits look perfectly natural, just like how they did in the old comics, which also had an extremely colorful style. These same colors simply wouldn't work on a live-action setting, where they'd pop out like if it was a clown show, and not an actual action movie that tries to take itself seriously. People need to understand that adaptation isn't just carrying over stuff from the comic into a movie. It's in the name. They need to adapt things so that they work better in the new medium. Sometimes, it feels like people advocating for stuff like this are more fueled by nostalgia than their actual tastes. I'm mostly an outside spectator when it comes to all the marvel stuff, as I'm not really into it, so I'd like to believe that what I'm saying is without any bias towards either the comics or the movies. The truth is that the comic costumes would look absolutely awful in live-action, and so would the newer designs if they were in the comics.
I think Spider-Man homecoming suit is underrated. It is bright and colorful and the eyes are a very smart way to show Spider-Man’s expression. I also really like the one at the very end of no way home. I think that it too is bright and colorful while while still being one of most faithful to the comics in my opinion
The cap suit from the 1st avenger movie I feel is why they steered away from the bright colors on him. Sometimes what works on paper or in a game don’t transfer to film very well.
I like venom with the red eyes… I thought it was inventive and at least exploring other potential ways to look cool. For Eddie Brock? Nah let’s not. For scorpion? Hell yeah dude

Gonna be honest, I'm quite surprised at how good I think the Marvel characters' costumes look in Fortnite.
The more alien/xenomorph details on Venom look great, and that Green Goblin armor is honestly the best design I think I've seen for the Green Goblin in general.
The Comic + Metal look is amazing
I always used to say “say what you want about the actual game, fortnite does a really good job with the skins. Like a vast majority of them look really good”
Yeah they pretty much take most takes of the characters and mix em together a little bit here a little there and then just pinch of themselves
The Green Goblin one is SO amazing, it’s literally comic goblin except it takes the 2002 Spider-Man mask but with the ears and hat like the comics and real yellow eyes but the hat is designed INTO the 2002 mask it’s so well done. To me it’s perfect.

The more simplistic designs fit better when the game is simplistic
I quite like the MCU suits though I do see where your coming from.
@@lolwsp6481 yeah adding effort to it would be the costumes we actually got at the end of wandavision and multiverse of madness

It's not just nitpicky. The details added to the homecoming suit do not benefit the design, but make it too busy and uncharacteristic. It's also not bright, actually.

Someone might've already posted about this, but part of the reason for the Reds-thing; on Cap, is that brighter/organgier reds don't film super well. it is realistic even if the story doesn’t make sense. like a man being frozen in ice and surviving it makes no sense but if things don’t look right visually if it’s to bright you can’t get behind it. your not watching a comic book it should be as if these characters exist in our world and work by our rules even if they don’t.

Star-Lord’s Fortnite design is mostly intended to be inaccurate because it’s contextualised as a Fortnite character cosplaying as Quill, not Quill himself.

I think the classic Green Goblin is amazing! He looks like a goblin, and I love how it looks like a rubber Halloween costume
I honestly love both the MCU & Fortnite designs for Characters.
The eddy venom has yet to meet peter so he basically never gets that swagger. venom's swagger and demeaner change exponentially when he's connected to peter. hence the spider on the back.,
And the goblin take was interesting for sure. great video tho.
Bro you can't do the same thing you do for an animation or comic as live action it just doesn't work

I really don't like Fortnite, but I can't deny that they have some really badass suit designs that add stuff while being extremely faithful to the original design. I really don't understand why the higher ups at the movie studios don't get this.
This is all true, MCU's design problem is something i noticed a while ago, hope they work on these for future projects!
This is not all true. In nwh they made a comic suit and they made electro suit without making it look ridiculous and iron man, tror, captain america, black vidow, black panther, moon knight, and more
@@yucelonmaz2 Yeah but those are the lesser half of the MCU
We’re talking about the others, Civil War, FFH, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and the list goes on
Although Black Widow had the line problem too
My (the spectacular) second title, was inspired by the (amazing) in your name
I tend to disagree with the criticism of the MCU costumes being overdesigned, I actually think a lot of the MCU costumes are outstandingly great, but one thing is for sure. Fortnite's designs are absolutely top tier. One thing I'd like to point out about the MCU designs is the people who say they don't like all the vertical lines etc. That's a valid opinion, but I actually think that some people don't realize that the purpose of the vertical lines is to give the costume a slimming effect, which is a huge goal of superhero costume designers. That's why I think a lot of them are so masterfully designed.
I completely agree
I love toms gold and black ironspider suit. Sorry but it’s one of my favorite suits.
I think Spider-Man homecoming suit is underrated. It is bright and colorful and the eyes are a very smart way to show Spider-Man’s expression. I also really like the one at the very end of no way home. I think that it too is bright and colorful while while still being one of most faithful to the comics in my opinion
Oh my god, thank you. I thought i was the only one who love that suit.
The random black lines kinda ruin it tho, luckily the suit at the end of NWH doesn't have any of them
The cap suit from the 1st avenger movie I feel is why they steered away from the bright colors on him. Sometimes what works on paper or in a game don’t transfer to film very well.
I like venom with the red eyes… I thought it was inventive and at least exploring other potential ways to look cool. For Eddie Brock? Nah let’s not. For scorpion? Hell yeah dude
LMFAOOOO the star lord at the end omg that was nice I bet very few made it to the very end
