The reason I love JOJ is because he has way more variation in the colour/intonation of his voice. Like, his Music of the Night is SO smooth and seductive it's ridiculous.
Agreed. Ramin's voice sounds like warm fire, resonating throughout with emotions. He performs the best The Music of the Night, and John performs the best Phantom of The Opera.
I love John's acting in this scene. Every gesture and movement accentuates the music the dialogue and music. Amazing. He brings it aluve. Add in Sierra with their combined voices, and the scene is perfect.

If wasn't for that rubbish "love never dies" and cameron mackintosh stabbing him in the back after years of dedication he put into both Phantom and Les Mis, he would have played the phantom in that concert with Katie Hall as christine, as it should have been. John & Katie actually matched the characters phantom/christine in all aspects unlike other casts people gush about.
Everyone has their favorites, how many Phans would kill for a good quality recording of Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman during their original run on Broadway or the West End? I’d argue if Andrew ever did release something like that it would outsell even the 25th show.

It should have been him, but the boomer mercenaries ALW and Mackintosh wanted the nonsense "love never dies" duo, also ramen is considered "attractive" which is so shallow and totally opposite of what POTO is about. JOJ deserved so much better after all the dedication and hard work he put into the show.

Michael Crawford is forever my favorite Phantom - the almost angelic quality of his tenor coupled with the forboding and tragedy he brought to his performance - the stuff of magic. But JOJ - just sensational. The moment he belts out "Sing once again with meeee" - left me completely mesmerized. Fucking magnificent, and this is just a small slice of a great show. What a treat it would be to see him perform it from start to finish.
This. No one, like NO ONE compares to Michael and his performance as the phantom. He visualised the character from the first time ALW played him the Overture, he was obsessed with the movement and use of his hands to convey the Phantoms torment and vocally he absolutely nailed every song and the emotions give me goosebumps

He performed "Phantom Of the Opera" with a female singer about a decade ago in a televised performance - his presence during that performance was incredible. He was in a simple black suit, no makeup or anything of course, but he embodied the Phantom with every thread of his soul, so fantastic. I've always loved his Phantom, and his will always be my favorite, but occasionally there's that particular performer that makes you just kind of pause in awe. John Owen is 100% that dude. Just amazing.

I highly doubt ALW would've hand-picked him to play Phantom in 25th anniversary if he didn't put feeling in his performance or wasn't hitting the softer notes right.
Ramin and JOJ are both quite powerful and soothing at the same time. It's why I can't decide whom I like better. :-D Either way, gimme Erik over Raoul any day! Rroowr!

Sierra is always going to be the perfect casting for Christine. JOJ does a beautiful job as Erik. Out of all the phantoms I've heard and seen, I would say my top two are Ramin and JOJ. I feel like Ramin is the perfect casting, as his singing is perfection, his timing is spot on and the aura he gives off just makes him the perfect Erik.
I like JOJ as the phantom more (despite how dreamy and electric Ramin is ) because this is essentially a story of a young girl beguiled/groomed by an older gentleman (which JOJ pulls like boss). The apparent age difference has be there for the story to have that kick in the stomached!

Recently, I got myself a DVD of The 25th anniversary of The Phantom Of The Opera in which Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess were in it. Also I bought a Phantom movie made in 2004 on DVD 📀 which Gerald Butler and Emmy Rossum. were in it . Now I also want to get myself the stage drama of The Phantom of the Opera played by Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman, also the one which John Owen Jones and Sierra Boggess in it as well as the one which Sierra Boggess and Hugh Panaro perform.
I'm SO happy John Owen Jones is now Phantom on the west end! he is my favourite along with Ramin, and it was incredible to see him with celinde and the rest of the new west end cast last week!!
I have to say I have seen Celinde Schoenmaker as Christine in London and she is now my favourite Christine, she was amazing and received a massive standing ovation on her opening night, it brought the house down.
I will always love Crawford Wilkinson put the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera Panaro's acting is unmatched Ramin's emotional delivery is just pure rawness although his phans are a bit much. But vocally, JOJ is better than all of them. His range is out of this world not to mention he is in complete control of his entire performance and his voice itself is out of this world.
I think John Owen Jones' voice fits the character of the phantom better, but I think Ramin is the better actor (not to mention his chemistry with Sierra is haaaht)
I disagree about the voice. JOJ's voice is beautiful but much more traditional. He sounds like any romantic gentleman in musical theatre. Ramin's voice has much more vocal "ping", which makes him seem more powerful, and his voice is much more unique, which makes him more mysterious.

I'd believe that, even though I don't know if it's true or not lol. JOJ has the BEST voice, honestly. If I had to imagine the perfect male singing voice, his would be it. Ramin's voice is edgier and less trained. But Ramin and Sierra have the best chemistry of any Phantom/Christine pairing I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of them...I think they play off each other very well when they're acting, to the point where they can anticipate each other.

I personally love that he doesn’t have that perfectly trained sound, just pure amazing raw talent which is even more of a testament to him. They are the only ones that are believable for me, and Ramin’s portrayal brings me to tears. Cannot believe so many people hate on him 🤣. I don't know why everybody is saying that Sierra sounds sick. She sounds perfectly normal to me. Obviously, the click track that they used at RAH is going to sound a lot more powerful and louder than what her mic would pick up here singing live. This performance is a confirmed live one. And I thought she nailed the E6... the number of Christines that have actually been confirmed to have sung that E6 live are very few, though they obviously have to be able to hit it somewhere. But I guess the ones that become Carlottas have the least trouble with it... I think I love JOJ's voice more than any other man's I have ever heard. He's really excellent vocally. And I liked the lip-licking he did lol
The final note is confirmed to be live? It look like it is to me, but it's always a bit hard to tell. I actually prefer this performance over the 25th. I think her pronunciation is less strange here.

We can guess that it has at other times, of course. And yes haha, it is pretty hard to tell without confirmation, but most of the time, Sierra's click track specifically sounds pretty obvious to me. And it's probably because we've heard it so much!
Okay. These two are excellent! Maybe the best pairing for the Phantom so far. Just the right timbre and both Jones and Boggess lite vibrato is perfect!
Johns voice is amazing and fits so well with the character. I will admit Ramins acting is a little better but John definitely has stronger vocal abilities.

I disagree about the voice. JOJ's voice is beautiful but much more traditional. He sounds like any romantic gentleman in musical theatre. Ramin's voice has much more vocal "ping", which makes him seem more powerful, and his voice is much more unique, which makes him more mysterious.

I'd believe that, even though I don't know if it's true or not lol. JOJ has the BEST voice, honestly. If I had to imagine the perfect male singing voice, his would be it.
Ramin's voice is edgier and less trained. But Ramin and Sierra have the best chemistry of any Phantom/Christine pairing I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of them...I think they play off each other very well when they're acting, to the point where they can anticipate each other.
Ramin is way better! Their chemistry is undeniable and I find his voice more appealing and just better in general :/
@@chazj2425 Finally! Ramin was just getting bashed in here even though he’s the more believable actor. Sierra is simply irreplaceable, and her with Ramin in POTO 25th Anniversary is far superior than JOJ with her IMO. I just think Ramin’s voice is better too, even if it is “edgier and untrained”, which I didn’t think so. :/
@@AT-nq1rp yes!! I LOVE Ramin’s voice too, he is my favourite. I personally love that he doesn’t have that perfectly trained sound, just pure amazing raw talent which is even more of a testament to him. Sierra is perfection just like Ramin so it’s a match made in heaven 🤷♀️ can’t get any better then that duo. They are the only ones that are believable for me, and Ramin’s portrayal brings me to tears. Cannot believe so many people hate on him 🤣. Not only that but he is such a wonderful person in real life, just an all around amazing talent and person 🤷♀️

I don't know why everybody is saying that Sierra sounds sick. She sounds perfectly normal to me. Obviously, the click track that they used at RAH is going to sound a lot more powerful and louder than what her mic would pick up here singing live. This performance is a confirmed live one. And I thought she nailed the E6... the number of Christines that have actually been confirmed to have sung that E6 live are very few, though they obviously have to be able to hit it somewhere. But I guess the ones that become Carlottas have the least trouble with it...
I think I love JOJ's voice more than any other man's I have ever heard. He's really excellent vocally. And I liked the lip-licking he did lol

The final note is confirmed to be live? It look like it is to me, but it's always a bit hard to tell. I actually prefer this performance over the 25th. I think her pronunciation is less strange here.
@@sxyghost8266 I agree with your preference too. And yes, this is confirmed live and it's the only performance off the top of my head where I know of any Christine singing it live. We can guess that it has at other times, of course. And yes haha, it is pretty hard to tell without confirmation, but most of the time, Sierra's click track specifically sounds pretty obvious to me. And it's probably because we've heard it so much!
I saw sierra play fantine and thought my life was complete, then I saw this and realized my bucket list consists solely of seeing JOJ live

Okay. These two are excellent! Maybe the best pairing for the Phantom so far. Just the right timbre and both Jones and Boggess lite vibrato is perfect!

I had never seen JOJ's Phantom until recently and I really like him. This was a great performance from him and Sierra.
Johns voice is amazing and fits so well with the character. I will admit Ramins acting is a little better but John definitely has stronger vocal abilities.
JoJ has a more powerful voice while Ramin has a more emotional voice. Colm Wilkinson could combine both but not do either as well on there own
