This was the most comprehensive explanation and demonstration of a marine hybrid engine system that I've ever seen. Using realistic and practical real-time data to validate the performance specs.
@@NautiStyles This has been the most comprehensive coverage I've seen on a hybrid, yet how would they work in environments such as the Westcoast of Canada? Or would we someday in the future, convert water into power and use the water as a power source? The future is already here.
The Greenline Hybrid yacht is an engineering dream come true!!! The WOW factor is through the roof. Love this vessel. Thank you NautiStyles for this memorable tour!!! ❤❤❤
Today is my daughter's 9th birthday. Instead of taking her shopping right now, I'm watching Rico and Udo talk nerdy to me. 'Sorry Maddie. Daddy is learning about a boat I'll never own'. This has been great so far
I absolutely love GREENLINE, INTERNATIONAL YACHT SALES, and UDO WILLERSINN you guys are the best! And this is honestly one of the best episodes I’ve seen of NautiStyles. The GREENLINE 45 Flybridge will always hold a special place in my heart.💚💚
As I said last week when you asked everyone your question, my answer is, if you find it interesting then so will your viewers. The episode proves that. What an interesting boat and maybe a glimpse of the future designs of boats.
I'd love to do 'The Loop' ,as I'm from Michigan and the Saginaw Bay's close to use as a 'home port' during summer, and cruise south to avoid the cold, and to go island hopping of course.I've never heard a ship's systems described so well, and this is such a Great design.Thank you 3 for demonstrating this awesome ship.(Just need the Lottery).
I wish you two would do The Great Loop and film it for this channel. That would be so much fun to watch. This boat would be wonderful for that trip. Anyway, loved this video. Thank you!
This boat is the new face of boating. Like the largest RV maker just announcing an all electric RV, plus many EV cars in 2023 are cheaper than Gas cars. This video was a delight. Best yacht walk thru video on ALL channels to date! Conversational exchange of information with practical examples and a video walk thru. I work at an RV solar company. We remove the need for generators by combining solar, lithium batteries and high efficiency alternators to the engine - much like this boat. Thanks so much!!!
Greenline walk through videos are what really made me try to buy a boat. Owning a greenline would be a dream come true. At the moment I am trying search for everything I would need to operate a baot
These newer solar/hybrids are getting more and more awesome. The micro control with electric is a game changer for docking. To be fully self supported to leave the boat on mooring and not worry about fridge or basics is great. I’m hoping to get an ocean level yacht, but for the loop (also on my bucket list) this does look perfect. Join The Crew
Wow, that remote control tail gate (forgot the name) is too cool! The idea of setting anchor off an island without running your engines yet being fully comfortable! I really like to see this Eco Yacht going to the islands!

A special thank you for having Mr. Udo Willersinn along to explain and demonstrate , his explenations of how things work and practical demonstrations combined with you're amazing tours . Doing a boat tour while underway is the BEST boat tour, I hope you guys can do more like these. The hybrid is an awesome way to go. I would run the diesel during the day and the electric at night.
Wow! This is the most in-depth overview of the Greenline 40 I've seen on TH-cam. Great job guys! I'm really impress with this vessel. Something, looking forward to get one when I retire in a year or two and cruise up & down the ICW from OBX 🙂

Wow....I'm usually a 50 ft + boat guy, but I could definitely see this as an ultimate live aboard for one or two people and it's small enough that you don't need crew of any kind (well, after you learn how to drive it ofc). Very impressive, I must say. And it's as cheap as a house in Ft Lauderdale to boot😂
The Greenline boats not only have pioneering powersystems but some lovely semi retro styling inside and out.. I first saw them in their native Australian waters and was impressed then. What a beautiful boat with clean lines and a great layout ! Your tour and explanation of all the features with the assist by Udo was great. There are many advantages to a marine hybrid and this is a perfect example of it with diesel and electric. It's amazing how much room you have on the interior and the staterooms are perfect. Thank you for a complete look at the Greenline 40 and keep up your great videos !
this is also the problem with electric cars, so silent that pedestrians can't hear it and run the risk of getting hit, some states are entertaining laws to force electric cars to make some kind of recorded noise for that reason,
One word to describe this boat.. PERFECT! Seriously perfect for great loop, or family to enjoy going out on the water, for weekend or even a trip to the Bahamas. Its like a floating RV. Just the right size if you just want to go out fishing on a lake for a day or spending a few weeks traveling. Just damn, would love to have one of those.
What a brilliantly built vessel !! ...you guys made this introduction and tour of the Greenline 40 "better than perfect" for me. Udo explained how the hybrid system operated so well too! Love seeing this kind of new tech coming into the cruiser world!
Guess the Wynns should have bought the Oceanclass 68. Lol. I know they wanted a performance sailboat, but with the solar system and the diesel like he says, they could have gotten by, especially with as much motoring as they were doing. But the cost, size needed for crossing Oceans, etc.. I get it. Just saying.
Love seeing a tour of one of my "short list" boats. I'm wondering if any of the Greenline boaters who are planning on doing the Loop this year (or next) are going to TH-cam it? . Another question, mostly for Udo or Greenline if they're watching, have you looked at having Sharrow props as an option on your boats? I believe I heard Udo say that there is a ZF transmission on the output side of the electric motor? Could you put that in neutral then and use one or both of the diesels in generator mode to recharge the battery bank once you're either on the dock or mooring ball (assuming the sun isn't shining of course)?
I love where the industry is going. Diesel / Solar / Electric Hybridization is definitely the future. Advancements in battery tech and solar tech and diesel tech are only going to make this better. Another cool feature is these systems will be relatively cheap to upgrade as advances continue. My solar electric future is looking so bright, I gotta wear shades. This is a beautiful boat. Nice presentation y'all, very informative. ❤❤❤
Had an extra day following a convention in Miami and went up to FLL-- got to see the Greenlines there and enjoy the riverfront walk; spoke with Udo briefly by phone, but wanted him to enjoy his day off. Great area, and appealing boats!
As a renewable energy engineer, I can say I’m impressed. I’ve been watching the boat industry for several years now. And it appears they have taken to heart the challenges we face with renewable energy. And are excelling at it. To show an example, when he says they are using 300 watts, your coffee maker (drip) uses around 1000 watts, a small microwave is 1000/1500 watts. So yeah. Impressive.
I really loved the boat and video. The technology in the boat design would let you cruise almost indefinitely. A great design. Stay safe and dry through the storm.
This is a compelling video about an exceptional boat with a compelling business model. In the days of $5-7 per sq ft sails, $1/ft Dyneema lines and shrouds, and carbon fiber masts for days there is wind, here is an ecological solution at a competitive price.
All the technology on the Greenlie Hybrid is fantastic. With all the advances in boating, you guys will have to start a new channel just to give instructions on how to use it. I can relate to what Udo was saying about old school boating. My first weekender was a 1957 Chris Craft.
I’ve been thinking about a Greenline 48. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this. The best representation of the yacht I’ve ever seen. Sea testing is important. I wish you could do them on all your reviews. Mainly for fuel consumption. I realize this is not possible and you can’t give the owners account. Bottom line, great job.
Hiya Vico, What a cleaver Viking boat. Great tour and video, thank you. As an ex-electrician, I actually understood the tech talk about the amps and watts, me understanding boat talk??? Wow, again, thank you for organising this one year to set up? Worth every second it took you to do. A fantastic boat and, I would think, well worth the money. How many cabins are on the largest version? What a great live-aboard to have. Thank you again. As in all new designs, you bring us; a perfect layout and internal lines. A place for everything and everything in its place. Fantastic, the clean designs now are so good against what was traditional design. I love where the industry is going. Stay safe, Steve xx
As a Prius owner for the last 20 years, who is looking into getting our first live aboard I was just thrilled at seeing this boat tour. I so much enjoy this practical information on what's out there, there is practically no information available about alternative energy being actually used to power the boat motor itself. I was so disappointed to see that there was such a lack in technology to do this when like I said I have been using the Prius to get a huge mileage advantage since 2005. Thanks for bringing this particular boat to light.
I can completely concur with his story of a couple waiting 20 years for a mooring in Boston!!! I just waited 14... and I agree this would be the BOMB on a mooring at a fraction of the price of slippage around here... BINGO.
What a fantastic yacht! This kind of hybrid isn't new in marine applications -- conventional American submarines in WWII used the same basic idea, recharging batteries while running under diesel power on the surface -- but the ease, sophistication, and efficiency here are astounding. If I can ever afford to buy a yacht new, it just might be one of these. 36:05 -- Yeah, that's like waiting lists for a berth at Santa Cruz Harbor, especially for larger boats and especially for the "lower harbor" where you don't need to worry about clearance under a bridge. And it's the same kind of rule: once you get the spot, you have like 6 weeks to put a boat there or you lose it. It's the harbor where I want to be, but for practical reasons I'll need to head down the coast a little.
The future of Yachting looks bright! This was a Very comprehensive tour. If you are super green and pickey, the thrusters are a bit annoying and the topside port could use another grab rail... This could be the answer for a couple who want to do the loop as you two suggest.
I love this boat. I have seen many many boats in your videos. Many of them are fantastic for one reason or another, but this is the first motor yacht that I would personally consider purchasing (combination of great tech, great design and energy efficiency/low environmental impact). Love it. Thank you.
The average fuel burn for The Great Loop is around $36,370! Shocking to think you could possible cut that to almost nothing, plus little to nothing hours on the engines so the boat resale value is higher.
I own a performance sailboat (Pogo 10.50) and have been dreaming about going around the world in a performance catamaran, but damn this is appealing. You get all the comfort of a motorboat with the quietness of a sailboat and you avoid soooo much maintenance from not having standing and running rigging.
I'd vote this Greenline BOAT of the DECADE. Never been a fan of sailing (too complicated and too much work) but loved the sound of the waves with no engine noise. This is the perfect solution.
On your walk through of the Riviera 78 I commented that I do NOT like top heavy boats. Interesting that the captain on this boat commented on exactly the same thing. This is one, of many, reasons that my favorite boat is the Elling E6.
I own a 6-meter center console (Quicksilver 555 open with a merc 115efi) In addition to the main engine I have a small auxiliary electric outboard with a 40 amp battery. This setup will only give me about 2 knots but because I mainly drive on channels with currents up to 3 knots, I can comfortably cruise downstream without using up precious engine hours... And that's a significant advantage...
@@NautiStyles ... could get down in the back waters pretty good, would really need a dingy... but shux, cruise up some ole river at night, wouldn't even scare a bullfrog. :)
This is absolutely a great review of this boat. And I so much impressed by this that I am interested in buying a boat for the first time in my life. This a convenient self sustaining machine ready to use. I am loving it!!!
A great review. The perfect blend of good information, enthusiasm and companionship. Oh and a very modern, well thought out and future proof boat.Kudos.
Wow I thank you a million times to show me this boat that i love a lot and the way you guys showed it to me and the others is absolutely great. I live in Wisconsin and this boat would make an amazing live aboard on Lake Michigan . I really really like the hybrid motor system. It’s so innovative ! AND YOU CAN’T LEAVE RICO WHERE WOULD I GET MY DAD JOKE FIX LOL 😂
Very innovative and the perfect Florida boat. Cruise around for days without refueling. A draft of less than 3’ - Bahamas here we come. 40’ length so dock space shouldn’t be that difficult, perfect boat for a couple to enjoy.
Nice explanation of Solar Hybrid & interesting sea trial of this 40 footer. Victoria & Fort Lauderdale’s scenery never gets tiring with these boating tours. Thanks guys.🙏🇨🇦👍
Twin diesel with 10KWH generators gives you so many power options, this is the smart way to go. Lots of boats running electric motors with one onboard diesel generator is a risky setup. Great boat tour by the 3 of you, I could see Rico eyeing the Viking hair-doo and thinking, I wonder???
A lot of Greenline company technicians come from the same base as many technicians in Pipistrel aircraft company which produced first certified electric plane . Company Im talking about had a rough past many smart guys went to the companies listed above the company Im talking is Elan, today known as ski (Elan invented carving ski as well) and sail boat producer.
Wonderful video, and a fantastic, well-engineered boat! This vid made Greenline a contender for me! 😊 Nautiguys - a request, please: a video of a live-aboard in cold, nasty, bitter precipitation: when you’d dare not leave the pier. What’s it like inside a
Hello y’all! Fabulous yacht! Just wondering about a design change for upper cabinet storage in gallery, cabins, and head….instead of lifting the doors up (which seems cumbersome and takes up space), do you think sliding doors would be better? Just a thought! 🐟🌴🦀🐬
Amazing boat. Thanks you guys, for showing this. I really like the helm. The seat looks very comphy and visibility looks so good is negates the desire for a fly bridge a bit. 👍

🙌🏻🙌🏻💙💙
I totally believe in the Hybrid future for yachts. Sunreef etc. these guys are the benchmark.
thanks
On your walk through of the Riviera 78 I commented that I do NOT like top heavy boats. Interesting that the captain on this boat commented on exactly the same thing. This is one, of many, reasons that my favorite boat is the Elling E6.
Thanks for sharing!
So interesting and helpful to see a hybrid operating and well explained. Not to mention, it looked like a lot of fun!!
It was!💙💙
OMG!! In like 30 mins into the video, I was like I'm definitely buying this one day. Thanks NautiStyles for showing us this, wow!!
Great yacht, very futuristic of electric drive systems.
I am interested in vacationing in this hybrid yacht on the Great Loop. I can't locate the information regarding scheduling, cost, etc. Great show!!!
so far there are no charters there yet, thta's why they are looking for people to do that
This boat has been one my favorites. So happy you finally did this walkthrough.
Keep it up 🎉
Dave
yeay! Glad you enjoy it!
We live on the Mississippi in Wisconsin and this would be the perfect size to fit our dock and do the loop and beyond. Our retirement dream!
Sweet!!!
The Future has arrived.
Superbly explained how this system works and this would be a great boat to own and really relax into the solar experience! 👌💎👌
Glad you like it!
I'm curious how this boat will ride threw the outlet? I watch the boat zone (the outlet) and boy the waves their are huge. This boat is amazing.
And that's a significant advantage...
ahhhhh yes... been looking at these folks.
nice!
I am seriously thinking of it as in a way get one of this one. I love the access of the engine as well and thank you Rico for the way you described it.👍👍👍🤟😉
It would make a great series of videos if you guys did the Great Loop.
That IS an incredible Boat, Tech has finally cout up.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
A pleasure to hear the guy explain the operation with few interrupts. Too bad Alexei doesn't get the same courtesy.
I live in Wisconsin and this boat would make an amazing live aboard on Lake Michigan . I really really like the hybrid motor system. It’s so innovative ! AND YOU CAN’T LEAVE RICO WHERE WOULD I GET MY DAD JOKE FIX LOL 😂
hehehehe
😍😍😍❤❤❤ would love to see the new 58.
👌🏻
Very innovative and the perfect Florida boat. Cruise around for days without refueling. A draft of less than 3’ - Bahamas here we come. 40’ length so dock space shouldn’t be that difficult, perfect boat for a couple to enjoy.
We agree! 💙🙏
If this Greenline has a water maker I am sold! Too bad I can’t afford one.
Yup, a water maker would be a priority.
Free to explore ❤
Awesome as always! Love you! 👌👍👌
Thank you so much 😀
Nice explanation of Solar Hybrid & interesting sea trial of this 40 footer. Victoria & Fort Lauderdale’s scenery never gets tiring with these boating tours. Thanks guys.🙏🇨🇦👍
glad you enjoyed it
Как всегда великолепно. Спасибо. Молодцы
💙💙🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nautiguys - a request, please: a video of a live-aboard in cold, nasty, bitter precipitation: when you’d dare not leave the pier. What’s it like inside a
I’ve watched and loved your yacht build (Nauti Guys) but this is still my dream boat. Got to fit in the Trent-Severn waterway.
Boat application for hybrid is better than automobiles...solar panels are a must...great combination!
Hello y’all! Fabulous yacht! Just wondering about a design change for upper cabinet storage in gallery, cabins, and head….instead of lifting the doors up (which seems cumbersome and takes up space), do you think sliding doors would be better? Just a thought! 🐟🌴🦀🐬
That is a very cool boat. Hey, it's great to talk smack about California.
Oh stop it!!! 😝😂
this boat is awesome!! I would love to see some bigger center console boats like the Tiara 48ls!
Thanks for watching
Amazing boat. Thanks you guys, for showing this. I really like the helm. The seat looks very comphy and visibility looks so good is negates the desire for a fly bridge a bit. 👍
Our pleasure!
Totally enjoyed learning about the Hybrid. The variety of your tours are informative. The homes were amazing too. My goodness.
Udo is pretty cool with his experience. Thank you
