How did we get here?
After a year of full time travel living the van life, we had to adapt when the world changed. To keep busy we’ve converted our tiny house on wheels into a fully functioning off grid tiny house that has everything we need. Realizing that none of us know how long this new normal will stick around, we made the decision that building a home here was the best decision we could make. We've spent the last year doing EVERYTHING involved with coordinating and planning the build ourselves as well as setting up this off grid property to be able to provide us with the the food we'll need in the future.

What once felt like a pipe dream is really coming together...when editing this week's video I went back to find footage of the garden we put in two years ago and it's really hard to believe how far everything has come. With the house so close to starting I can't even begin to imagine what the land is going to look like in another two years. Also, not sure if the garden updates are of any interest to you or not but it's unbelievable how much the strawberries and rhubarb have grown since we added the soil...should we do more garden updates?? Hope you have a wonderful week!!
Yes 👍🏻 to more garden up dates
Yes Please to more garden updates ... Was thinking that as I watched that I would really appreciate more garden stuff in general from you both. Another great vlog 👌🏼 See ya next Sunday x
Yes, please! It’s amazing to watch your world go from white white white to green green green!
The garden looks amazing what are you growing in there?
@Jay Mills how has your experience been with them? Are they very difficult to care for?
This vlog brought tears to my eyes. Just seeing how far the land has come in the last couple of years and thinking about how much you two have accomplished ... I mean the place is absolutely beautiful. You've really created a wonderful home for yourselves, Charlie, Eddie and Lily. And you've got the garden started again. Enjoy the fruits of your labors, guys. You deserve them all.
Thank you so much for this. Feeling so grateful 🌱💛
You can do this Also, every dream can become reality. 🙏❤️
Gosh I'm so so glad to hear that I wasn't the only one sooking at the end (Sooking is an aussie term that means "sniffling" i.e.. tearing up )...
You guys are so good at filming and editing your videos. It's almost like a movie. I love the deer, the birds flying in the air, the wooden chimes outside, and all the beautiful shots of the area out in nature including the sounds of the frogs chirping you could hear inside your dome. You both are great at taking us on a wonderful journey where you live along with all the hard work building your Oasis there.
Thanks so much Candy 💛
And your wonderful boys and Lily girl.
I was going to comment on the camera work and editing too. Tyler, you're doing such an amazing job! The images and the way it's all edited together is beautiful. - Hugh
Yes to garden updates 🧡
Ditto to all that but oh how that deer took my breath away.💙
My favorite part of Sundays is to finally see all the progress you guys have gotten done since the week before! I’m always amazed at everything!
Ditto what Lynne said!
The backlit deer and shots of the woods... so beautiful. ♥️
You guys make my Sundays. You are a joy. I'm 70 years and I'll never have a have a relationship like yours. Keep going my young friends!!!!¡
Tyler your editing on this video was so incredible! That nature scene with the rain and the music choice was perfection! Really blown away by your editing skills. The quality of your guys content is really amazing! Also damn, those BBQ nachos looked so good...will definitely be trying that out!
What was the song? So beautiful. I haven't been able to find it.
They are beautiful filmmakers, I am glad you commented on that aspect.
I’d echo that. Ty your edits a super cool. I loved the dark deer silhouette against the light sky, so atmospheric.
Same! So glad someone pointed that out. Completely loved the nature montages and music, just beautiful!
I love that your keeping as many trees as possible!
Garden updates are always welcome along with everything you guys wanna share. I just enjoy hanging out with you.
🍃🤗🍃
I so love watching you both each Sunday, you bring such a deep peaceful vibe to this crazy world. The nachos looked amazing. 💜
Boy, that thumbnail clip makes me pine for a Tyler and Todd lumberjack calendar. ;-)
I'm a lumberjack and that's Ok. I sleep all night and I work all day ... you reminded me of Monty Python's Lumberjack Song! ;-)
We were late to the Tyler and Todd show but every week now, we’re always in awe with how great your TH-cam and life skills are. Thanks for filming this for us to watch, and allowing us to come on the journey with you! ❤️
Thanks guys, you’re too kind haha 💛
This is your BEST video so far. Congratulations
Todd, you may want to find a local saw sharpening service, that sharpens all types of saw blades. Also, a propane line splitter so you don't have to switch connections all the time. Hope these suggestions help.
At the end of the day you are creating a private playground in the woods ... it's perfect. Today was a little more Zen ... wood chimes and babbling water, divine.
Best video yet. The love and communion you two have created, it is really something rare and spectacular. I also love the garden. As a kid in Michigan, the family home was next to a virgin forest in a Victorian farming community. We had 2 acres with an apple orchard and a garden of about 1/3 an acre. The vine ripe tomatoes, the corn, peas in a pod, string beans ... all the jams and jellies and preserves. We also had the black "horse flies," what a living hell. I can only say thanks and continue forward in your dream.
Even if you didn't get the full body suits, a lightweight netting hat will keep the bugs away from your faces. Also, if you plant some lemon grass or citronella grass, you can rub the plants on you to keep bugs away.
Another great video; one of my favorite parts of Sunday.
You guys are awesome!!!! Definitely look forward to every Sunday because of you!
Me too! Also watch vanwives that are building their cabin in the woods
If that stalk on the rhubarb is a seed head you need to cut them off. Rhubarb spreads by underground roots not seed heads. They are like onions you need to keep seed heads off so the plant will keep growing and sending up new leaves. Rhubarb is a heavy feeder, loves well composted manurer! ❤️👍🏻
I love that last drone shot of the dome with the lights and the fire, and how it looked like this beautiful, peaceful oasis in the night. Perfection.❤️
Goodness, the image of a good looking man with a big tool in his hand....I had to go and lie down... with a friend.
What a magical and wonderful Tyler and Todd have created. "carpe diem" and they have.
Good evening!!!!!! When iam watching this lol. So happy u r here this week. I totally get why u miss a Sun here and there no worries I just miss u so much. It is literally a ritual cozy up glass of wine no one is aloud to talk to me until I have watched u all twice. The garden looks wonderful. My husband and I worked on ours this weekend will hopefully have it planted by Wed. evening. Can't wait we haven't had a garden in years but with the world what it is today we decided that should be a priority for the next few years. Hope u both have a wonderful week and Iam excited for next Sun already. Hi to the 3 fur babies. ❤️ Kris 🇨🇦🙏🙏🙏🦮🐕🦺🐈⬛
Tip for growing strawberries. Make sure the crowns are above the soil level in order to prevent the plant from rotting.
They also love horse manure.
Why oh why did it have to end. This video carried me away to another dimension…😌
This was so cinematic. So peaceful. Expressing love of nature and celebrating life as common threads. The ending line about the sauna. 😭This episode hit all the right notes. And the Emmy goes to: Tyler and Todd
watching the flamingo speed around the pond in the background when the video is sped up fills me with so much joy
hey Todd...
hi I've been off grid in rural bush Australia for over 15 years...
Chainsaw blades sharpen well if you don't file backwards and forwards... file one direction, then lift off slightly , pull back, then pressure on ...
hope this helps...
Thanks for all your entertaining videos.
One word that comes to my mind is "mesmerizing". I have been watching each new episode from the moment I discovered Tyler and Todd and I cannot find enough words to express my admiration for the vastness of skills you guys mastered. And it is getting better and better. You could not accomplish this much without true love to each other.
We live in an area near some people who live in off grid homes. One time my husband was at the store, and one lady came up to him visiting and said dreamily "I bet you have running water..." The same day a diff lady came up and said..."What are you making? You look like you have a stove that works."
Been watching your videos for ages, but my partner and I just bought a bungalow to renovate and your videos are really inspiring me to work through every break I get at work and into the evenings to make our home special. Little bit by little bit we’re getting there and most importantly really enjoying the hard work and pay off!
That’s so awesome Marty, congrats! It’s definitely a lot of work but you’ll look back and be thankful you did it!
Oh my word!!!! How have i not seen your channel before? Love when TH-cam gets it right and promotes a video channel you actually want to watch!!! So excited to binge watch you videos!!!!
It’s so nice to see Connie (RV) again. I’d forgotten how bright it is in that space. Yes, to continued garden updates. I find your garden scenes to be very calming. Rhubarb plants are toxic to dogs and cats so you might want to fence them off.
So are tomato plants and green tomatoes. I had to jail Mt tomato plants to keep my new puppy away from them.
With lots of love all the way from Indianapolis, Indiana USA ❤️🇺🇲
Loving the gardening updates, your lattice fence looks stunning. VanWives also complaining about the bugs this week
I loved hearing the frogs and crickets. My guys and I live in northern Wisconsin and my guy is a science teacher. When we bought a property he fell in love with this home because there were frogs and toads everywhere when we visited. He always says if the land is not healthy the first thing that disappears are the frogs and toads.
My favorite part of Sunday is hanging out with you guys and seeing the progress you've made.
The shot at 6:48 is stunning. I love how the forest floor is coming back to life.
Boy, you two really outdid yourselves on the cinemetography this week. What a beautiful episode. It was so artfully done. I look forward to every Sunday!
Every special touch makes your home more interesting, more divine.
Planners, decorators, laborers, chefs my you certainly are talented young stallions. You're creating a front page Hollywood Homested
Wow, guys, the plants and veggies already off to such a good start. The overall Land has become quite the spread....something to be found everywhere one turns their head. That is just so cool. I'm glad I've followed you guys from the start (even though i didn't subscribe immediately. The excitement of the main house going up, the outhouse looks great (five star!), and just can't wait to see how much you will harvest this year. It just keeps getting better. What a beautiful life you guys have created for yourselves. I've loved watching every possible minute of it. Too much to say and I'm already too long. Keep up the great planning, implementation and execution! Above all, Team G-T, stay safe and healthy! John G.
I'm a lumberjack and I'm Ok I sleep all night and I work all day....Things are coming along nicely guys.....Thanks for letting us follow you around and watch the progress, your bathroom turned out fantastic, Nice Job 5 Stars!!
You guys can not stop doing this. I look forward to your show every Sunday 💙💜❤️
"I would like these blades sharpened themselves" I loooove you!
You guys are always so fun to watch. I love your camper. Forgot how cute it was. So cozy and comfy feeling!
Your garden is looking great as well. I think you should show us whatever you guys are doing. I just love watching your interactions with each other, your creativeness in all that you have done! Love me some Tyler and Todd!!
I only have two words today, Beautiful and beautiful.
One of the most striking moments was when you did a flashback of the garden where Todd is standing in straw and saying this is where the strawberries and rhubarb will go... I would love to see more of those! Your editing is superb, it adds so much to your amazing story to see how far you've come! I also just really love seeing you just relaxing and doing nothing but enjoying the beautiful life you have worked so hard for... thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Ok I think it’s ok to speak for all of y’all’s followers we wish next Sunday were here now! Love y’all’s vids guys!
Thank you so much for sharing all of the stunning nature shots. Living in the suburbs, there just isn’t the natural beauty that surrounds me like your little nest in the woods. Your shots of the flowing water, deer, birds, and the exquisite greenery is so refreshing. You truly have a piece of paradise. Love seeing the beginnings of your planting and to be able to go on the growing journey with you. How totally blessed you both are. Sending you positive energy and good vibes. Bless you both for all your hard work. It was wonderful to see the refreshing places you have created to get away from the nasty bugs. Be good to each other. Know you are loved. Sending love from Minnesota. 💐💕🌎🌸💜🙏
I love when you reap your rewards. Nummy food and a sauna, YES!
You know it's Sunday, when Tyler and Todd are on our screens. Having my pizza and going to watch the vlog. Love you guys.😊😉❤️💙
Went to bed earlier today only to find out that there was no upload yet - so obviously had to stay awake (in Europe)
I think u guys make everyone here want to come hang out with u guys. I know I want to. Love u guys. And your videos. Spectacular!!!
I really enjoy the updates about the garden. I like seeing what’s being planted & how you’re doing it. The trellis looks so nice, it gives the garden area a more finished look. The tree cutting & piling is a lot of work! You guys work so hard! But the end result is fantastic! The Land is looking so gorgeous. I especially like hearing the frogs & other sounds of chirping. The photo scenes of the deer & land were beautiful! Thank you for a lovely video. Hugs to you both & Charlie, Eddie & Lily. ❤️🤗
My favorite clip from this video is right at the end of you blowing into the sauna fireplace in the firelight. Beautiful. Just beautiful. 🌹
Great video! Loved the shots of the landscape around you. The water on the rocks, plant life, trees. Absolutely lovely. And the drone shots of the dome are the best! 👍
Ребята,привет!молодцы,все умеете,все делаете качественно.Ч в восторге! Привет из Алматы!
I so look forward to your videos every week!
Be careful with the strawberries, too much nutrient-rich soil makes their leaves flourish but not as many berries.... also, they like acidic soil and green pine needles are an awesome mulch.
Look forward to next week
Don’t you worry about a serious injury or health problem. Is there a doctor or hospital within a reasonable distance. What if you both had health issues at the same time? Please plan ahead.
I’m glad to see that you seem to take safety precautions where you can. Best of luck to you two guys. 👍🥰😃😆😀
Love watching you guys! I'm very impressed with your veggies and wonder how you keep the critters from eating your strawberries? Here in So. California our snails and other critters would make short work of them if I had them in the ground. I have grown them successfully, but only in raised beds. It's such an inspiration to see how much you've gotten done on the land in just 2 years - bravo! And I love how you only took out dead trees to make the clearing today for the new trench.
BIG STINKY FLY TRAP! My deceased husband and I used this for flies on our property for years! It works great. Hope you guys get one. I saw they are available online. Just be sure to set it on a tree away from your main living area because it does attract flies and the jar gets full and stinky. Love you guys! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessings, Laura
I love seeing you guys go from cutting trees to cutting chives! It seems like two very different things but it was just so real!
When you build the house, do you plan to have things like a bathroom and such inside? Will you keep the dome? I'm always surprised to see reference to a house BC you've put so much time and energy and money into the dome and the "outhouse" and the new shed etc. I love it all!
Hey Marisa! The home we’re building has been years in the making and will probably take years to build. As you know, the geodesic dome was super quick to build and is the perfect place to live while we build our dream…once it’s finished we’ll still have the dome for visitors, parties, hanging out, and even if we want to getaway for the weekend :)
I have been enjoying your vlogs for 2 years & I don't believe I have ever commented but today I feel compelled. DO NOT GET DUCKS!!! Not if you want to continue swimming in your little pond. I grew up with ducks & raise a few now. They are adorable & fun to watch, but they will have your pond water turned into poop water in just a few days, and that will be with just 2.
I look forward to your video's every week. They bring a sense of calmness and fun into my otherwise crazy life.
Another amazing video! Love watching you guys each week. Your “homestead “ is beautiful. So much love , skills and creativity being used to build your dream. Stay safe!
Oh you guys xx. Your life and family (you 2 and fur babies sans bugs) looks idylic. The amount of work done to create this homestead shows attention to detail and desire for beauty and comfort. That b-b-q with netting surround is the best idea.. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Beth! We’d definitely be lost without that bug netting for a bit of reprieve from the bugs!
Love your adventures...a tip, mesh bug jackets work awesome! I found mine at Canadian Tire. They are available at most sport sections in a variety of stores.
I for one would love garden updates! Have you looked into companion planting for your garden? If you plant the right veggies (and flowers) together, your yield will be so much bigger and better, and the flowers will bring beneficial bugs to help with pest control. It also looks gorgeous! One tip: plant tomatoes with basil and marigolds. The basil and tomatoes will each have stronger flavour, and the marigolds will attract insects that eat pests harmful to your tomatoes. Marigolds and calendula are your veggies' best friends. :)
God bless you both you’re doing a great job never give up love watching your video really awesome
Tyler and Todd , I have terrible bug problems at our garden !
We got these nettings off of Amazon
And they work like crazy!
I can now stay in the garden as long as I like!
Just wanted yall to know because we have been fellow sufferers. They actually started going after our eyes 👀
So something had to be done !
The netting goes over a hat and gives your face some space where you can watch them crawl but they can't get to you !
Best wishes 💚🐦
You guys rock! 🤩 Always looking forward to Sundays watching you guys. 🥰 How is Lily doing? Is she outside with you guys sometimes? 😻 Have a wonderful week. 🥰
Another great video the garden will look great enjoy all the vegetables the van wives complained about the bugs see you next week❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️
I was so impressed with your garden yield last year! Looks like you’re going to have another successful year.
These videos are my oasis
Heyy guyss
I'm early !!
I got so happy when I saw the notification
Can't wait to watch
Lots of love to y'all ❤️❤️
Hope you enjoy the video!!
You should get yourselves beekeepers hats! That way the bugs couldn't get to you while you're working the land!
Love everything you've done so far!
Love from Germany! X
First
Hahaha iconic
when cutting down trees, you need to be singing the Lumber jack song...LOL
Wow I am envy your relationship and
enjoy life together!! It so amazing to
see creat your life style together!!
I lost my husband 5 years ago, he
left me two beautiful sons..so I hope
my kids will get a life partner in some day…
You're music pairings are..... chef's kiss 😘🥰🎶👏👏👏
My heart warms every time I see Lilly
Love the flamingo doing its own thing in the pond.
Hahaha just thriving living it’s best life 😅
WOW. The sound of nature: chef's kiss 💋
I have eaten today, and thought I was done, but then I saw those BBQ Nachos, and DAMN I am hungry again. Thanks Men. Great informative video.
Geese were recorded as flying over Mount Everest recently. How amazing they are.
Easy fix! Check to see where you can get a mesh hat, it covers your face and head and keeps the bugs out!!! If you can’t find one, easy to DIY! This was a really great video! So proud of you both!❤️
Oh how I miss the peep peep peeping of those frogs 🐸. What a wonderful tune to go to sleep to. 😴
Yall should get a compost pile going! Plants love homemade compost way more than the stuff you buy in plastic bags. And compost is a crucial element of self sufficiency, decreasing inputs and increasing outputs. With all the land you have, you could make more compost than you know what to do with quite easily.
Tyler, I'm with Todd, Get some Ducks, and some Chickens just think of the eggs you'll have, That's your next project, building a chicken coop, I love how you grow everything from seed, I do this also, I have been making rhubarb crumble & pies, Garden looks great. 💖
The Bugs! We lived in Terrace BC for 7 years. The first summer there the black flys ate me alive. I asked a friend who had lived in Alaska what type of bug spray worked for those awful northern black flys. She said the trick was to put on bug spray so heavy that you could taste it. That worked…mostly
Hey Guys! I love your channel and are so awesome as a couple! I thought you might like a fire starting tip. I know you don’t have a clothes dryer, but have your friends and family save their clothes dryer lint, it is a great way to start a fire!
Hey guys, Lemon Eucalyptus bug spray, liquid in a pump spray !! Works great for all the bugs trying to eat you alive!!
No deet 👍👍Keep up the great work! John
You Guys are the best thing on TV. You are s much in Love and So Happy!!!
Guys, thank you for this gift. I needed this today. I needed to be transported into a beautiful romantic and loving couple video.
"CAREFULLY PLANNING..." SHE SAID! OH grilfriendl, the best part of being a subscriber is the chance to laugh WITH you two on the folly of it all!
I just can't believe how much you all are able to accomplish together! You guys just amaze me and I'm so glad I found you last year. Post pandemic, it's kind of hard to find new friends, everyone is so to themselves so it's refreshing to get to know people as caring as the two of you and just learn through you and enjoy your missions! Love it!
I swear I can almost smell the fresh air when I watch your videos. Excellent editing and sound! Also love how the doggies remembered their favorite couch! 😍
Beautiful - the music, geese, rain, birds, forest sounds, cooking, etc. Thanks again for sharing your adventures and progress.
I often fall asleep to frog and cricket asmr...that would be heaven for me. Your property is so beautiful.
I loved the lumberjack kung foo. Keep up the good work.
How frightening….So happy you have a hood hospital close by. Emotional for sure❤❤❤❤❤❤
Avon Skin so Soft applied straight to your skin repels the bugs! Make sure to put up multiple Bat houses this will control them too!
Absolutely awesome video! Especially loved Todd’s bugliest rendition of the “I Love You” Barney song 😂 😆 😛
