The only time I EVER see people walk in the bike lane in my hometown is when there is no sidewalk. Watching these vids, it makes me realize there really is no such thing as a perfect cyclist city (well except for maybe Amsterdam). I commute by bike to work and while our struggles and challenges might be different with a sprawling city like mine vs a dense compact city like yours, we still have our challenges to face. Thanks for posting the vids. If I ever visit NYC I'll try not to imitate some of the obvious tourist shenanigans those in the video are doing.

In the uk, we have the 'Highway Code' and, in particular, rule 195 'Zebra crossings. As you approach a zebra crossing look out for pedestrians waiting to cross and be ready to slow down or stop to let them cross you MUST give way when a pedestrian has moved onto a crossing allow more time for stopping on wet or icy roads do not wave or use your horn to invite pedestrians across; this could be dangerous if another vehicle is approaching be aware of pedestrians approaching from the side of the crossing.' Does the US have the same rule for their crossing, which are not light controlled?

I think bicycles should follow the same rules as cars, even if they're in a bike lane. That means yielding to pedestrians at crosswalks, even if they have a red light.

It doesn’t mean they can walk through anything, that rule only applies if pedestrians are walking on an intersection where the car and the pedestrian are given the signal to go then that’s when pedestrian got the right of way. But a pedestrian can’t just go through a highway or in this case a bike lane and call right of way lol
