      Seems the Hotline shirts are sold out, so I bought a hoodie and shirt from Category Six. Love the series, they are astonishingly well done. Smart move to put the sound just on the rider, and the high, stabilized shooting gives the viewer a really good sense of why the rider is making the decisions they do. (I can't believe that, even with stabilization, Terry is able to keep the camera on the rider that consistently.)
      And I appreciated Erik apologizing to the pedestrians.

    This is a really great lesson for me about gearing. I just changed up my first fixed gear from a 48/16 that came stock to 48/19 because there are a ton of hills where I live and I needed the help. My immediate impression was that my acceleration and braking was much faster but my top speed was a bit slower. Ironically, because of the extra speed control it offered me, I actually felt more comfortable riding faster on average. Anyway, when he said he was running 48/18, I thought "oh so he's not going to go as fast as some of the other guys I've seen on this channel". But this dude rips. He definitely uses the fast stopping and acceleration, but he was hauling ass at times when I thought he couldn't. It really is more about how you use it. Thanks for the vid as always Terry

    • @cirofdo
      @cirofdo 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah it makes a lot of sense, because there are few opportunities to get max speed. In the other hand there are a lot of scenarios when you need to accelerate or brake, specially in my case where I actually stop in most red lights.

    People say Bear Grylls' cameramen are more skilled than him for doing the same stunts while carrying loads of cameras. This video reminds me of the same, as the focus is on Erik, but the real star is the guy keeping up with him while filming him.

    I think the reason I like these videos so much is that this is simply the best way to make your way through a big city like New York.
    What I mean by best is the cheapest and fastest, perhaps also the most impressive.
    I don't care if you're breaking laws, regardless, you'd be the victim of your own alleged stupidity, in most cases.
    What I'm trying to say is, I like what you do Terry, keep it up.

    Lets be real here. If he followed all the traffic laws, it would be a boring snoose fest video. Nobody would watch a video of him standing with his bike waiting a full minute for the light to change green or him sitting behind a car stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. Right? We watch the "extreme" city bike ride or the mountain bike ride because of the dangerous risks. Risks that we wouldn't take because lack of skill and guts. I don't like zooming by a pedestrian on crosswalk or blowing a red light and just missing a car but I can still appreciate the skills and guts.

      @Luis Barrios On the internet, "everyone can ride like him". In reality, you can never ride like him because of the danger and fear factor that would absolutely scare you and limit you. It goes beyond how fast and how long one can pedal. If you think you can just pick up a bike and ride like him with no experience, you are fooling yourself.

    it amazes me how comfortable he is riding with one foot attached to the pedal and the other is pressing the back tire, and simultaneously he is dodging pedestrians & vehicles. Hopefully i will learn to be as agile as he is.

    Watching this reminds me of the rookie I'm working with. pointless tests if fate, not actually in control when depending on luck, trying to impress instead of accomplish. Like this whole video was a clinic in what not to do.... I've seen rookies with cleaner lines

    For approximately 15min20sec of this I was tense af. My Dog!! Erik's riding is frenetic but mesmerising. The gaps he sees (most of the time lol) & the lines he commits to were heart in mouth stuff. The bike introductions need to stay IMO. One question though Terry, do you always use your single speed 50/17(?) when 'chasing'? Fuck I love your work, keep being awesome.
