@moiradavis2674 thanks for watching! I order from Farmer Bailey but you have to order like 12 weeks ahead. They are great tho! You may be able to find ready to ship from them or Leo Berbee or other wholesalers. Also check out the Small Scale Wholesale Grow group in Facebook, I order from them a lot when things are available when I want them.
Love the video! Super helpful! I'm looking into growing some snapdragons on our farm but saw the different groupings- I saw some are made for the heat, I believe group 3? Do you recommend growing those in TX or do you only stick to cool season snaps?
@unseennevada256 so your best bet, and I've taken this advice from Lisa Mason Ziegler who does this, is to fall plant several groups. They will flower at different times depending on the day length and temps, but overall snaps don't like extreme heat. I've had good success with different groupings, but usually get blooms from mid March through end of May. By June we start having too many 90+ and 100+ days and even the later groups don't like it.
When you start sunflowers in February when do you usually get your first blooms? Do they (I’m assuming Procuts or single stem) still mature in 55-60 days? Or do they take longer in those cooler months? Have you gotten cooler temps after February? Can they make it okay for one or two cooler nights? Or will it be a total loss if you get a freeze?
@mswgarden SO if I start in Feb, they will bloom by end of April or May, usually at 60-70 days. The cooler start makes them start cooler, but they grow fast as it warms up. These are typically my procuts, although I'm going to add in branching varieties to this this year as well for the UPick and see how they do. They can handle frost but not freezing, and honestly with them being young, if it were to frost, I'd cover them. Usually for me by Feb I'm starting to get more days at 50-60 with it getting into 70 by March so they can handle it.
Thank you! We are typically warm here too, but I know we can occasionally dip into cooler temps overnight that time of year. Hoping for a long season of sunnies! 🌻

Where do you get lisanthus plugs? I grow them from seed but the germination rate is so low i would love to use plugs so i can enjoy more of them

Strawflowers...is it ok for zone 10. Or China asters
@@JosephineTeehankee They both should be fine growing in the heat! Fall plant the strawflower and spring plant the asters
