This video was perfect timing. I went wild on buying Zinnia seeds today over here in zone 8B. Came home and found this video. 🤔… Thank you!!

Another excellent video thank you. I wish I had the climate to have Zinnia grow so well. Love from Ireland as always ❤
@sheelaghomalley5459 thank you so much! Yeah probably too chilly for them for you, but likely great for more cool flowers than I can grow!
Great video, thanks! 🌷🙏🏽

I am living in the Caribbean. It's very hot here.
@@annstclair4668 your climate should be fairly similar to mine, probably just woth more wind and less freezing!
I have grown agastache the last few years - it does really well in our southern heat and the bees LOVE it. Happy to send you some seeds - it’s easy to collect seeds too
@jeanatkinson190 ill have to try that! I'm pretty sure it's in my wildflower mix so I'll have to see if any comes up in the field as well. Dyou use it as a cut?
@ I did - it gets pretty tall and has a wonderful aroma. Just ordered some rose agastache from Baker And scented geraniums 😊

I should have known you were a LMZ grower - love her and am loving your videos - I’m 9a so it’s so helpful
Haha yeah she is in a much cooler area but I do find a ton her advice to be so helpful even for my zone. And I am a lifelong learner so why not! Happy to help out whenever I can!
@ I love learning too! You may already know this but just learned that aphids dislike chives so may try planting some by my mum. I’m going to try cuttings too. Thanks so much for all your knowledge - we have friends moving to tx so I may come visit one day 😊
Love the video! Super helpful! I'm looking into growing some snapdragons on our farm but saw the different groupings- I saw some are made for the heat, I believe group 3? Do you recommend growing those in TX or do you only stick to cool season snaps?
@unseennevada256 so your best bet, and I've taken this advice from Lisa Mason Ziegler who does this, is to fall plant several groups. They will flower at different times depending on the day length and temps, but overall snaps don't like extreme heat. I've had good success with different groupings, but usually get blooms from mid March through end of May. By June we start having too many 90+ and 100+ days and even the later groups don't like it.
@@summerskyegardens Incredible, thank you so much!

Where do you get lisanthus plugs? I grow them from seed but the germination rate is so low i would love to use plugs so i can enjoy more of them
@kaprenawheatman8222 Farmer Bailey, but you have to order 12 weeks ahead. You can also look at Ball, Leo Berbee or other wholesalers.
great video. thanks! where do you get your lisianthus plugs?
@moiradavis2674 thanks for watching! I order from Farmer Bailey but you have to order like 12 weeks ahead. They are great tho! You may be able to find ready to ship from them or Leo Berbee or other wholesalers. Also check out the Small Scale Wholesale Grow group in Facebook, I order from them a lot when things are available when I want them.
thanks!
When you start sunflowers in February when do you usually get your first blooms? Do they (I’m assuming Procuts or single stem) still mature in 55-60 days? Or do they take longer in those cooler months? Have you gotten cooler temps after February? Can they make it okay for one or two cooler nights? Or will it be a total loss if you get a freeze?
@mswgarden SO if I start in Feb, they will bloom by end of April or May, usually at 60-70 days. The cooler start makes them start cooler, but they grow fast as it warms up. These are typically my procuts, although I'm going to add in branching varieties to this this year as well for the UPick and see how they do. They can handle frost but not freezing, and honestly with them being young, if it were to frost, I'd cover them. Usually for me by Feb I'm starting to get more days at 50-60 with it getting into 70 by March so they can handle it.
Thank you! We are typically warm here too, but I know we can occasionally dip into cooler temps overnight that time of year. Hoping for a long season of sunnies! 🌻
Yeah! Last year I had sunflowers from late April through December!
Gorgeous !😍 ❤🥰🙏
Excited for your next video of starting warm season annuals in a warm climate!
Thank you! Just posted a full 12 month calendar for planting video!
Any success with Floret dahlias? My experience has been poor?
I didn't try cause I don't grow dahlias. If I did I wouldn't do seed because it is so rare you get a good new form from seed that to me it seems a waste
I love using grow bags and they frustrate me as well because they flop down on themselves. To fix this, I simply fold down the edge of the grow bag to my desired height and it works great! Just thought I'd pass that tip along. 💚
🌟 Welcome to 2025! 🌟 The start of a new year is a chance to innovate, collaborate, and grow together. Thank you for being part of our story-we look forward to achieving great things with you this year.
