    Stairway to heaven is already timeless, and has been for many many years. It is the iconic song to learn for beginning guitarists since its release in 1971. There are only a handful of songs in Rock history that are considered truly legendary ...Stairway is one of them , with Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen head to head.

    This was the time of the hippie revolution. Long hair on guys was frowned on by the majority of the public. It was thought of a symbol of a rebel and illegal drug user. It started in the protests to the Vietnam War, in the early 60s. It became more welcomed with Gen X, in the 80s.

    The story is Keith Moon. Who drummer, on hearing Pages proposal for the band said it would take off like a lead balloon (in other words wouldn't take off) The band changed balloon to zeppelin because thats basically what a zeppelin is and changed the spelling of Led. Plant went "solo" because John Bonham died and there was no more Led Zeppelin.

    Led Zeppelin was inducted int the Kennedy Center Honors and Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart) payed honor to the band by covering Stairway to Heaven in front of them. It was incredible. You should check it out.
    In fact if you have heard the song "Believe" by Cher. She was honored and Adam Lambert (American Idol, Lead singer for Queen) honored her with that song, but not as a dance song. He did a very incredible slowed down, love song, version... It was amazing. It made Cher cry.

      Ann Wilson, the lead singer of rock band Heart, has announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer.
      The 74 (Holy crap. She does not look 74)-year-old wrote in an Instagram post: “I recently underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous. The operation was successful & I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy & I’ve decided to do it. And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover.”
      Heart have therefore cancelled their next tour, entitled Royal Flush, which was due to have visited 48 cities across the US and Canada during the autumn. In May, Heart cancelled their UK and Europe summer tour, which included six UK arena dates, citing Wilson’s operation.
      In her Instagram post, Wilson added that she intended to be back on stage in 2025, writing: “This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing.”

    Jimmy Page was forming a new band after The Yardbirds broke up and was told "that'll go over like a lead balloon"". I can't recall who made the comment, but it is attributed to Keith Moon (former drummer of the Who). A led zeppelin was a giant helium balloon/air craft shortly after the turn of the 19th/20th century. The Hindenburg was a famous one that crashed and burned. Led Zeppelin, as the one saying it, was going to go down in flames.

    • @heliotropezzz333
      @heliotropezzz333 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Jimmy changed the spelling from Lead to Led so that the name would not be mispronounced as Lead in Leader. Zeppelins were a type airship but they weren't known as Led Zeppelins. A lead balloon was a metaphor for something that would never get off the ground or fly.

    • @punkydoodle4774

    Robert Plant had huge admiration for Elvis. Elvis was his childhood hero. The band only met Elvis, backstage, at a few shows. Elvis stopped a song once, at a Madison Square Garden show, because one of his musicians had made a mistake. He told that crowd that he had just seen Led Zeppelin enter the arena, and everything needed to be perfect.

    Led Zeppelin got their name from a conversation Jimmy had with John Entwistle of the Who when they daydreamed of A Supergroup consisting of John E. & Kieth Moon of the Who combined with Jimmy & Robert of LZ & wait for it ........Jeff Beck!!!! To which John " The Ox" replied " That would go over like a Lead(as in mineral) Baloon", Jimmy & Jeff played together in the Yardbirds & when they broke up they had prior commitments to appear in Denmark so in LIZ'S early existence they were known as " The New Yardbirds" 'til Kith Relf(former lead singer) put a stop to the name use, Robert was under contract with another Label when they recorded the 1st LP so he couldn't receive published credits for songwriting,which explains the rash of cover/"Traditional" cuts, the latter meaning "Public Property" which some didn't like"Babe, I'm going to leave you" which is a Joan Baez song(National recog.folk artist),"Dazed & Confused" was bitten but settled out of court,as was Willi Dixon's "I can't Quit You Baby" recorded by guitar virtuoso Otis Rush, the whole Chess Label Catalogue is an eventual rabbit hole Cheers, T-Bird
