And statistics from the build up to the 2016 and 2020 elections shown that he had the *majority* of the country behind him. He didn't become president because he's some fringe character or because he couldn't get the votes; he didn't become president because he (and we) got screwed because of a highly flawed system. We _need_ to vote progressives in who support fixing the election system via anti-gerrymandering movements and otherwise.

      Welcome.
      ponder this if you will:
      left represents non-dualism....collectivism
      right represents dualism....individualism
separation leads to fear and hate...violence and authoritarianism.
yeah, we have two firmly right wing parties.
corporations supporting a left wing politician would be suicide.
...since a lefty would *inherently* break-up, regulate, and tax them out of power.

America is divided by culture wars, indeed. I live in the Midwest and I am sick and tired of identity politics. The woke "liberal" mob vs the bible-thumping "conservative" mob is wrecking this country apart. Bernie has made a perfect point that we should be fighting for things that we have in common, but you can't talk to radicals on either side. This is why I think USA desperately needs a serious 3rd party, The Moderates, who will not give single fuck about these cultural issues and just focus on REAL WORLD issues like infrastructure, jobs, economy and stability. Let the radicals on both sides of the spectrum fight their imaginary wars.

Monopolies, vast wealth concentrated in very few hands and big money...ESPECIALLY dark money...in politics are serious dangers, not "just" to democracy itself, but to national security in the classic cold war sense.
Everything I mentioned above has already had demonstrable negative effects on national security and it's only going to get worse. When you have things everyone wants you need a strong populace, and a populace which is underemployed, despairing, addicted to opioids and dependent on antidepressants, with no medical insurance and a pension constantly under attack by the oligarchy and unable to afford college and the populace *_can not_* be strong by definition.

Wouldn't this be the natural progression of capitalism? Even if you start off with strong restrictions around money in politics, they'd eventually get worn down, and the further you wear them down, the more you can contribute, creating a viscous cycle until eventually political and economic power are the same thing, and then general public is locked out, creating an Authoritarian system where you still go through the motions of voting. Can you really have a capitalist democracy?

    • @mossydog2385
      @mossydog2385 ปีที่แล้ว

@@denver-gi7ot Not without strong regulations in place that *at least* prevent the worst excesses of greed from being expressed.
Capitalists constant refrain is that business is much more efficient than bureaucracy, which _can_ be true. Businesses are essentially dictatorships where what the CEO says goes, and it's real easy to be efficient if for the most part, one person is making all the decisions and if your department doesn't make it's projections, someone is going to get fired and replaced by someone who will. The problem is competition over cooperation. Competition is fine in Jr high school level sports, but when real money is the thing people compete for somebody *_often_* gets killed. It stuns me that, in the 21st century, people still seem to need to be controlled or they become greedy and petty and sometimes murderous or war-like. If we don't learn to cooperate our species won't last another millennia and I think that the general public sees this, but our leaders seem bent on clinging to an idealized past that never really existed.

(I would like to note that everything I am about to say needs to be read in the context of the fact that I am a Sanders supporter. Admittedly, as an Anarcho-Communist, I'm *much* further left than he is, but I also think he's one of the best politicians the US has ever seen in its entire history, and even though I admit I'm slightly worried about Sanders' age, if he were to run as President a third time in 2024, I would vote for him again. That doesn't mean I can't criticize him where I feel it's necessary, and in this comment I do, but I do wholeheartedly support him and his political mission.)
The framing of the "identity politics" question was, at best, ignorant, and at worst, disingenuous.
There's no doubt that Bernie Sanders really kicked the discussion of "class reductionism" into overdrive in 2016, because he did factually fail to address the meaningful concerns of Black Lives Matter, which was not, and is not, a *purely* economic movement; the demand for reparations is not a *purely* economic demand. And so I didn't expect Sanders to answer this super well because he does have a history of poorly addressing social concerns that aren't explicitly class-related (i.e. Patriarchy and White Supremacy).
However, I'm not a fan of the way this question was framed because the *Left* in the US absolutely does *not* ignore Class. Democrats do, yes, but they are not the Left. Democrats are liberal... or, more realistically given their damn near fetish for the Status Quo, the *actual* conservatives in the United States (with Republicans being not Conservative, but Regressive). They most definitely exclude Class when discussing social justice, but they also do so on purpose because they are ultimately Capitalists, which disqualifies them from being Leftists (Leftism is an inherently anti-Capitalist position because the Left/Right political line is a *specifically* economic line).
When *actual* leftists talk about social justice, Class justice is an inherent part of that conversation. I just felt the need to comment on that. I really wish that question had been framed better.

And part of that is his desire to work with progressives, as Bernie mentioned they formed a task force. Between the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS act, withdrawing from Afghanistan (FINALLY), his attempt for student loan forgiveness (we'll see if it happens), he has been more progressive than most of us expected. Obviously would prefer Bernie but Biden isn't terrible. He might be slow and old but his policies so far have been okay and even great at times. He's working with a very split Congress so it's amazing he's been able to do ANYTHING. As Bernie said, age isn't the issue, even though Biden is a dinosaur. I'm a Bernie supporter but think about the CEO/billionaires of America and consider how many of them are white and how many are not you'll see a very stark difference skewing heavily in one direction. It's 100% fact and also consider that in business in America the best and most profitable companies survive surely it can't be argued that only one race of people got that answer right, after all every race should technically have the same success rate as any other and yet it doesn't show that in reality.

There was more to the 2020 loss than what Bernie said. There was a large split field of candidates with very low support, and they were slowly falling away, and Bernie kept winning pluralities, raising his chances because it raised his visibility. Then Obama made a phone call to those candidates and they immediately dropped out and threw their support to Biden. Buttegieg was one, and was given the Secretary of Transportation job as a reward. He sucks at that job, btw -- just another McKinsey consultant doing nothing for the unions, and doing nothing to reverse the Trump deregulation of the train lines.

Identity politics never meant being selfish it just meant a small group of people supporting themselves politically and trying to be politically active. There are many very small groups of people who mean well when they look to find power through equality. The term identity politics turned into something bad because people do not know its history and used it how they wanted. Something the mass media does often.

    • @corpsefoot758
      @corpsefoot758 ปีที่แล้ว

Actually, the mass-media itself weaponizes identity politics.
When you deflect all criticism of Hillary Clinton to “They just hate a female candidate!” as opposed to, for example, “Blue voters will NEVER trust a corporate puppet who happily applauded every foreign invasion”, THAT is gaslighting of the American public via identity politics. Simple as.

11:50 The American Judiciary is biased because judges are too closely tied to the politicians, the mayors, the councillors and are appointed by them. If a judge makes a decision the mayor or politicians don't like they're out of a job. This is why the English Judiciary is a better model because judges are appointed by their peers. English judges frequently rule against politicians if they are found to fall short of their public duties. This is important as otherwise politicians will ride roughshod over the general public

this one is for the interviewer, have you been around the United States? Can you see what this man is talking about? When you see workers, and whatever your country you are from, I might be a little presumptuous to assume that you're from the UK, but it sounds like it. do you understand what this man is saying? When the entire economy is being built on the broken backs of people, who are being asked to break their backs for next to nothing, when there is no certainty in your day today life, we're being asked, do you accept this, like it's the norm, the status quo. I see the riots in France, because these people understand quality of life, they don't wanna work until the day before they die to reap the benefits of everything they have invested into, I'll be at their country, their economy, their future, so they don't have to suffer when they aren't able to take care of themselves while they suffer. Well, we suffer before the time we have to suffer. All we do is suffer. Every time you go to the grocery store, to buy a loaf of bread to live on the week, because you need to make a couple sandwiches to go to work. Wage increases have only increased by 100% in the last. 30 years, but inflation has gone up for five and 600% and the last 30 years. What's wrong with this picture? Wages and the cost of living, have definite disparities. One can't keep up with the other. One, is a TrackStar, one is a couch potato. That's the track meet. and it's not that the working class people are couch, potatoes, it's just that we have no power to keep up. Our power is in legislation, and elected officials. And ours, are worthless. As soon as they get in the office, they do what they want. Whatever it takes to secure their position, that's a contradiction of the oath. It's a contradiction of ethics. When your concern is to keep your job, and not what your job is to do. That's a concern. we have people doing manufacturing jobs that make, I kid you not, 70% of the national average. What is the national average? I'd be a nice guideline, if we held employers to that. But nobody does. The bacon Davis act, that's a joke. legislation is made that all but obsolete. Because all the funding to the departments, and oversee that people are being paid what they are supposed to be paid, have all been cut down to nothing. I can't believe that people buy into this lie, that they tell us about the pyramid, this triangle scheme of an economy. You got the flat side up, and the point down. No, it doesn't really work like that. It's the flat side on the bottom, and the point is at the top. But it is the distribution of wealth is what matters. People that have money, don't have money, because they spend money. they have all that money, because they figure out every which way they can, not to spend it. Let's get that straight. Trying to convince the American people that there is a trickle down economic, is a joke. Those people at the top that have all the money, or only going to want more money. Those people at the top, that have all the power, only look to have more power. It will only get worse. Until we get somebody to get us all together, and take our, and this is our country, when we are the majority, 90 something percent, this is my country, this is your country, it's not the rich and elites country. And it's not the senators and congressmen and house reps and these in that guys country, either, which only cater to self preservation, and profit. It is our country. we need to find a younger Bernie Sanders, someone a little bit more willing to stay in the fight. I love this man. I'm sad to see him go. We shouldn't be voting for Biden. I think this is Sanders time. Who does he have to run against? A fruit from Florida? And a pathological liar from New York City. Some backwoods redneck who nobody knows about from Arkansas? Come on. do it Bernie. Just do it. you got my vote. 14:03

Bernie, supporting Joe Biden "if he runs" (he shouldn't, but he will!!) is not really putting your energy in the best position. Seemingly you are going to be engaged in politics as we see you everyday doing that very thing here, and on many other different stages or floors trumpeting what you need to broadcast. And you're doing an incredibly good job doing it. And frankly, you're doing head and shoulders above anything that the president is doing. Not even the same league Bernie. You know that. Please Bernie, look at this one last time. If there is ever a time in which this world needs a celebrated candidate to present himself, it is NOW. Your fan base is now world famous and NOT to run is, I'm sorry to say, but almost abandonment of your grass roots base you have seeded. Please take no offence but rather hear the desperate plea which resonates throughout the entire free world and proud nation who hears you speak. The president of the USA, as you know Bernie, is an incredibly influential person in the USA and in the entire world as well. Grass roots must continue to grow from the further nurturing from a very gifted leader. Joe ain't that...at all. You have nothing to lose. Existential change is forged as it has been by key characters like FDR, Martin Luther King and JFK...to name only 3. AND Bernie Sanders will certainly share that company.
Consider with everything you have at your disposal and with this time of urgency like never before in history. You should have already been the president, but now you can show them you are the president! This job is perfect for you Bernie.
OH MY GOODNESS!! I have to say it again, ...when you here Bernie Sanders speak he immediately grabs your attention. He articulates like and professional speaker (because he is one) and makes very clear his point/s and messages with absolute ease and without the need to think or pause to conjure up ideas. He simply expresses himself very well. When someone can do this, it is a result of their knowing well the subject they are speaking on. They are engaged with the words and the message coming out of their mouth simply because they passionately believe it. Even a less versed or educated person can pull this off when a subject near to their heart or a subject they are very familiar they wish to share.
BUT, inversely, when we have to sit and watch the president of the United States, Joe Biden, say even the simplest of things or broadcast the smallest amount of any information he stumbles and stammers and takes painfully too much time to look at the ceiling or look left and right as if he's making like he's trying to engage people with eye contact where he is actually just trying to buy time to organize a tired, confused and vacant mind. It's pathetic for that person to hold such a lofty and important position. And completely unbecoming of a president of the most powerful nation on earth. So before Biden, we had Trump!!!...an abhorrent narcissist and ridiculous laughingstock with his similar but different limitations with oration or providing information through public address. Age my be a feature with Biden. Maybe!!??
Bernie Sanders is 14 months older and yet he can debate anyone or broadcast information with lucidity, crafted precision and intelligence like any well versed thoughtful person can do. It's not a special feature he has, Obama could also intelligibly pass profound thoughts similarly through public speaking. But its a feature that is very important for us voters to seek out among the other presidential features a candidate should possess. The political views and content of these clearly presented messages is obviously another extremely important part of the features of our candidates we want them to have. Its important of course, that person, the president, will have the greatest of influences on the direction of our world and lives. He must have control of profound thoughts and demonstrate clear vision. The current and and former president DO/DID NOT HAVE THIS.
Bernie, age is not a thing for you. Not even a little bit. It may have affected Biden??!! ..but personally I think he's just plain dim. But, Bernie Sanders, you are sharp AND you got this. And literally millions of "fans", "the people", will have your back more than ever before. Your name is world famous...your brand is clear...and and your influence could positively change our world direction we so desperately need. Run again Bernie Sanders for the President of the United States for 2024🗽🌍🌎🌏♥👊
    thank you
    Dave
I'm not even American, (im Canadian, and we have nobody here like you, not even close) I cant even vote for you! ...but I encourage Americans to look really hard to look to YOU. And I encourage you Bernie to look even harder at yourself with that same inspired vigor. You can not lose, even "if" you were never to get in that chair. Think about that.

Bernie is loved and the full package. And can he ever convey messages well, ...and succinctly on top of that.
