I worked with Bernie on his 2016 campaign, he is genuinely one of the kindest, most empathetic people I have ever met. He never brushed off a conversation even though we weren’t incredibly important people. He doesn’t want to be a hero, he actually does the work to be one.
Bernie sold you out. Bernie is nothing but a shill for the establishment. He is a coward and left his supporters high and dry. Bernie is full of shit but you keep buying the same bullshit from him. He use to be against these wars and now he is all in giving away over $100 billion to Ukraine and the military industrial complex. If he had any balls he would come out against this proxy war, but he won't because he is a fraud.
People on the right in the US bang on about Bernie being a millionaire due to the success of his book as if he's being hypocritical. He's not though because he includes himself in the wealth taxes he proposes. He has no problem with success, no problem with someone getting rich. He just wants everyone to pay their fair share in order to ensure that everyone in the country gets the same opportunities and has their basic needs met.
I went to a Bernie rally back in September 2019 at Queensbridge, NYC. People were lined up outside the park for blocks just to hear him talk. It was absolutely magical to see him standing up at the podium, talking about real problems and how we can solve them. I've never before or since seen an American politician end a speech with, "Turn to the person on your left, now turn to the person on your right. If you're willing to defend that person's rights as a fellow citizen, I want you to tell them 'I will fight for you.' " And everyone did. It was very moving.
As an American, Bernie's continued fight for the ACTUAL "American Dream" which was meant for all citizens is a ray of hope in all the political muck. 👏👏👏👍👍👍

So I looked up how long & how much it would cost today (OK, next Saturday ... seemed like a good plan) 19hr 55m and $98. I don't know the route the bus takes, but Google driving directions suggest it is approx 700 miles and a 10 to 13 hr journey. Of course, a bus is always slower than a car. 20 hrs on a bus nowadays would be uncomfortable - surely it was at least 24 hrs in 1968?

As a local volunteer, I worked so hard to get Bernie elected in both of his presidential campaigns. One of the things I have come to appreciate is that Bernie never, ever gives up. He rebounds from disappointment and makes the best of the hand he has been dealt. Local organization is hard because most people are not that resilient. They are struggling with all the structural issues that Bernie has always described. We have been so lucky to have a leader to show us how it’s done. I dread the day we have him among us no more.
I wish like crazy that Bernie Sanders had won the presidential election. He's the type of person that we see all too rarely, and he's the type of person we need to be in charge

I absolutely love Bernie and I learn more from U Tube than any other news media. I am so sick of being sick and tired and having to work til I die. I remember when life wasn't so hard. The media doesn't address struggling Americans. We show growth and profit by the rich and then say we are all doing well. More people than ever use food shelves and cannot afford healthcare.
I think it's random he's interviewing an American politician, but I'm glad Bernie is a living example to the rest of the world that not all Americans are ignorant or selfish. Americans, and the world, need more Bernies!

We love our Bernie! Thank you for showing that we have some genuinely bright and caring individuals in U.S. politics (albeit not enough). As an American I can tell you all that Bernie said is 100% true and that America is no longer a place where the future generation will live better than the last. Our country is in REAL trouble. I know several people who have moved away from America and my family are considering it as well. BTW...I've never seen Bernie blush...LOL...too funny!
What an excellent interview , never really heard Bernie speak before , I will be digging out some of his speeches , many times I've tried to get people to stand up and be counted , the trouble is as soon as you ask a 'keyboard warrior' to do more than type their disgruntled feelings they either make up excuses or go quiet , this has been going on for decades(maybe more) I used to be chairman of the regional CND in the 80s and I remember some of the pathetic excuses people used to use to not go on a demonstration , " it was raining " was the classic one or " my cats missing " These people were so apathetic it used infuriate me , I used to say " Yes they won't fire the nukes if it's raining " I can hear the same apathetic people now on TH-cam , don't believe me , then find some disgruntled people and try to motivate them to do something more than type how unhappy they are , then ask them to demonstrate , I guarantee you'll get either no response or excuses from the ' keyboard warriors ' This seems to be drummed into people from a young age , don't demonstrate and be happy with your sh*t life , I say people of the world unite , there are more of us than billionaires .
I'm watching this with tears in my eyes. Some minutes tears of joy, because Russell's such a good interviewer and generates some genuine moments of happiness, but many other minutes of sadness, because so many politicians want to make the world a legitimately better place, and are ridiculed for it. Bernie, in America, is the most tireless of them, quite literally, and the most articulate. But beyond the pettiness of culture wars, there needs to be an effort made for people who are struggling and people who are left behind. We have too much to do otherwise.
When you speak out against massive corporate interests, they going to want to use every trick they can to shut you up. Right up to TH-cam's head and sponsors.

@@jessieb7290 But we don't have to worry about paying for prescriptions or a possible accident or illness that would financially cripple us. It's utter shit here at the minute, and yet we still have some safety nets that a US citizen doesn't even have.
@@zyncwargaming179 I'm so sorry, madame. It appears that you have become lost. The eugenicist side of TH-cam is all the way over, well... I suppose anywhere else but here. Please be careful while crossing to the other side of the tracks.
Mother, father and three children. Do the math.
This was wonderful. I appreciate that Russell let's his guests speak. But also how he sometimes interjects a joke but it doesn't ruin the flow.
Also, the crowd was really great. Not clapping at every word but showing they were engaged and appreciative.
Great interview.
He is more valuable as a senetor and comittee lead
I cried when the DNC chose Hillary over him. I voted for Hillary and cried again when the nasty orange pervert won.
AMEN!
Here is a comment because I want to tell the algorithm I liked this content, maybe it will show it to more people, everyone needs to hear this kind of talk. I don't know will this help with impressions but... amazing, viral, epic, truth, mind blown, more please, I love it, this is great, good, super, satisfying, hope, kindness, love, unity, stand together.
I totally agree with you
I think it's random he's interviewing an American politician, but I'm glad Bernie is a living example to the rest of the world that not all Americans are ignorant or selfish. Americans, and the world, need more Bernies!
Yes!
This man is an actual blessing, also such a captivating and intelligent speaker
What a fantastic, intriguing and inspiring interview. Bernie really talked from an average persons point of view regarding the state of world and politics. So refreshing to hear from a politician's mouth. I hope he can run for presidency in America one day.
This is the best interview I've seen with him, so nice to see him joke around and laugh. Love this guy! Off to buy his book asap.
I love both of them.
Bernie is precious! No matter how many times I watch interviews with him, I can't help but get inspired and hopeful! ☀️
@Eli Ellingtononly if you believe in kremlin BS and putin's bloody war. I have no sympathy for murderers and tyrants.
I'm in Australia & I bloody love Bernie. Politicians of his strength, calibre & conviction are very thin on the ground here 😢
What a geniunely lovely man Bernie is, so glad I watched this interview.
Its really something that this man really does see us all and he truly cares great interview
Fantastic interview. What a great man.
"buy another island" 🤔
Nah but bernie is the one politician who you genuinely believe every word that comes out of his mouth. He truly wants the best for the people and to do whats morally right. More politicians like him this earth would be a fantastic place to raise our kids
Greetings from the non-voting District of Columbia. Thank you very much for interviewing the Senator and for sharing the full interview with us. Your mixture of humor and seriousness and intelligence truly shows more about the interviewee than most media do.
Thank you for bringing this talk forward at this time. We appreciate this conversation.
You made me Progressive, in the last year. I am new to this, but I am a believer, and am surrounded by many others like me.
Actually, a surprising number are following this path! I expect the going to be slow, but I feel a change. It is there. Thank you, Bernie.
This man is a walking evidence that if you are genuinely a good person then nothing can corrupt you!
Which also says a lot about the characters of the majority of politicians, who are mostly corrupt to some degree.
He’s not perfect, but no one is, and he is a truly amazing man and a great politician.
The interview I didn't know I needed but was ecstatic to hear. I. Love. Bernie. I. Love. Russell.
Okay, this is the 2nd interview with amazing people in the UK that have both given way more time and attention to my man Bernie Sanders than just about anyone in the United States of America - why is that, hmmm? 🤔🤨😘🥰 Love you Bernie!💪☺️👍
Bernie is a unicorn amongst politicians. He absolutely cares about people
That was GREAT! Thanks for having him as a guest.
"How can I sleep at night knowing that some of my fellow citizens are hungry?" (Icelandic woman in response to question about paying higher taxes in her country)
Round of applause 👏 ❤
Fair play to Russell, a funny yet really powerful interview with currently one of the world's great leaders and proponents of true and desperately needed change. Using humour to highlight the deeper issues gives us all hope. 👍
I went to one of his rallies in 2016. Voted for him in two primaries.
Forgot how much I love Bernie, one of a kind politician this man
Thank you for doing this interview. I note that your show, not the American media, is where I learned about Mr. Sanders’s book (I live in the US). I love your show!
was thinking about the same
Stephen Colbert had him on and plugged the book
so well spoken
Brilliant interview. Thank you, Russell.
Blessings Blessings Blessings Bernie. A true humanitarian💖💖💖
Two awesome humans in a room! Love it 💜
If a standing ovation in front of my screen meant anything, I would have done one. 👏👏👏
should be an example for everyone. Bernie is a real superhero
Well done Russell for continually holding those in power to account.
What an inspiration this man is... No wonder at the age of 81 he is still so active...
Best Bernie Sanders interview ever done.
Right up to TH-cam's head and sponsors.
we (UK) need one of him over here and in power
He summed up the importance of the NHS beautifully
Bernie sanders ...... such a sport ..... "RESPECT" ..... 😎😎😎
This was really enlightening to watch! Thank you
Amazing Love you Bernie! The most honest and caring politician in America!
I friggin' love Bernie Sanders. He's my spirit animal
I think this is the best of the recent Bernie interviews I have seen, the light hearted bits didn't rely entirely on mittens and memes. Also perhaps we should encourage Derren Brown to at least have a go.
I like these sit downs. Love the set, always a pleasure watching Bernie.
Unity as one!!! We must all stick together
Thank you Russell, good show. Love Bernie
Hell yes sir Bernie as usual amazing
Compulsory viewing. A deeply serious show.
Wow!!
That is the only Russell Howard interview that I've watched, where I've had a lump in my throat, and tears in my eyes virtually all the way through!! 🥺🥺
I'm a Brit, so I don't know THAT much about Berney Sanders, although I knew he was one of the good guys. I remember watching him speak in 2016.
Hearing him speak so frankly and so passionately about not only the problems in America, but problems around the world, really touched me, so deeply.
What an incredible gentleman. So knowledgeable, so compassionate, and yet so grounded.
America.....you are so incredibly lucky to have this man, as a politician!!
Cherish him!!
Thanks Russel, for a fantastic interview 💜
Thanks for spending the time to create and share this content/perspectives 🙏🏾
As Molly Ivans said, poverty is not caused by a lack of character. It is caused by a lack of cash! Redistribute the wealth.
"You've been in American politics for a LONG time & somehow you are still Ben Kenobi" is absolutely exactly correct! 💙
I love Bernie and his ideas!!❤️
Bernie really is a good guy its a shame more Americans don't see that.
We have Jeremy Corbyyn in the UK who reminds me if Bernie. The media will find any (even tiny) piece of scandal to bring him down. As I imagine the US media do to Bernie.
Both Bernie and Jeremy are dangerous to the status quo.
What an amazing bloke! We could use more like him in the UK imo!
This is an almost identical interview to one he did earlier that day on PoliticsJoe. But nonetheless, Bernie Sanders is a legend! Protect that man
Thank you both
Russell, such a great idea to have a sit-down with Bernie. Although you two are vastly different in personality, you are dedicated to the same fundamental principles, which I call common sense in whatever we do, and no matter how much money you have to do it ! Bernie tries to make life palatable for everyone, and your humour makes many people's lives palatable. Thank you.
I love both of them
There aren't many people out there like Russell that are both an amazing comedian and perfect interview host.
Finally!! 😅 I was getting tired of only seeing snippets of the interview.
Thank you Russ ❤️
✊️our world needs this way of thinking ASAP.
This man knows what needs to be done and he is the one of a few Americans I can trust and hats off to the man for speaking the actual truth may he live a long life 👍
