Brilliant! Who'd have thought a simple plastic bottle would work so well. Thank you both for this post - the commentary at the beginning did make me smile 🥰
Our pleasure! I had to reposition the bottle on the shepherds hook because one squirrel figured out how to jump above it. But 90% of the time it keeps them off. Thanks for watching.
God bless you from Atlanta. Thanks for saving me some money to get the slinky. I haven't had problems with squirrels for several years on a bird feeder that hangs from a hook and has a baffle on top, but the squirrels this year have figured out how to hang from the baffle with two back legs and then drop down to hang from the perches to eat. So I will try the bottle baffle upside down above the normal baffle. Jesus is Lord.
Thanks for stopping by. Good luck. Squirrels are smart little critters. I keep having to change mine up to keep them off. 2 baffles seems to do the trick so far.
Thanks. We prefer to keep it in Chattanooga. If we get too far out of the south we start getting comments with terms like mansplaining that we have to Google. 😂 Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Chastity & Steve, Bobby Jo, and other pups. OMGOSH Steve's cometary cracked me up. 🤣🤣It was funny when the squirrel jumped on the slinky and went for a ride back down. I wonder if the squirrel that made it to the top was the same one that tried and failed the first time. TFS! Blessings to you! ✝🕊🙏🏼💖
LOL I am cracking up at you and Steve. Squirrels will eat the whole feeder. They are persistent boogers though and will find a way to get into the feeders. I used to have one that would jump from the tree branch on top of the feeder and sit inside it lol. So much for the slinky. 🤣
I had one squirrel get over the plastic bottle. I had to move the poles apart more. It keeps most of them off but every now and then I get a squirrel that can jump above the bottle.
Thanks for this. This is exc. the bottle Is something I’m going to try. When the squirrel jumped up on the slinky and slid back down/ it was very comical. 😅
Thank you dearly!!! I ❤ ❤ ❤ this. These squirrels are determined and absolutely persistent. Enjoyed your commentary too😂😅. I need to find my slinky and stop Vaseline 'ing our pole. Will a round soda bottle work as well?
Every now and then a squirrel will get around it. I've tried 2 liter bottles and a gallon milk jug and they both work. I haven't tried any others. A slinky and plastic bottle together works and is entertaining to watch. Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks for sharing this, i shall try the bottle idea! The squirrel baffle i had before worked but it cost over £20 so this would be a lot cheaper 😊 i do love squirrels but they are gready sods! 😂
I have another video where I used a plastic coke bottle. It worked but I had the feeders too close to the fence and the squirrels bypassed it by jumping 😆 so I moved them away from the fence. The plastic bottle has worked great. I was curious about the slinky so decided to give it a try. Thanks for stopping by this week.
It doesn't take them long to figure out the slinky. I had to move my plastic bottle higher up because they were jumping from the ground on top of the plastic bottle and enjoying the seed. I am going to try cutting a bottle in half and placing it on the pole that I have the slinky on. Maybe duck tape the top together or zip tie. I'm not sure if it will work but I will video it.
Slinky didn't work for me either. Not only did it not stop them, they chewed the zip-ties in to. Slinky is still out there. Not going to unwrap the thing from the pole!
Great now address those dang African Violets before it's to late. They'll travel to your neighbors yard, you'll get rid of them then they'll creep back in your yard. And if that's also Creeping Charlie, you're double whammied. I'll buy the slinky tho

Squirrels are the ninjas of the animal world. lol
Yes they are!
Squirrel baffle to baffle the squirrels. I love it.
Squirrels are smart.
Y'all are funny!!! Thanks for these ideas, my Shepard hooks are tall and screw together in pieces so it will be easy to try these!!!
We like giving each other a hard time. Thanks for stopping by. The plastic bottle definitely works much better than the slinky.
I enjoyed your commentary. My husband and I were cracking up
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by.
You two should take your show on the road!
Great video, thanks.

I love this video! You two should have a comedy show!
Thank you. Thanks for stopping by.
That was so cool Chastity, I actually felt bad for the squirrels
Don't feel bad for them. I'll show you their feeders in the next video. 😆
🤣🤣🤣

So true! They haven't gotten past the bottle baffle yet though.
Awesome i needed this video
Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you thank you for this...
You're so welcome!
DIY Squirrel Stuff Award.
Thanks!
Great video, I’m going to try this

I thought the slinky was funny. I left it up a couple weeks for entertainment. 😂 Thanks for stopping by.

Works awesome! I’m going to make this! How long is your pole you think? Mine is about 5 feet
About 5 1/2 ft. I have 1 squirrel that always gets past the baffle. It keeps most of them away though.
@@BobbiJo thanks, I will probably have that same one squirrel lol
Slinky seems like a ladder for the squirrels
Really like the plastic bottle idea, will try it...The slinky didn't work for me either.

My Dad said to just slather some petroleum jelly on the pole...they slide right down...LOL!!
Yes I've done that too. 😂
I have a pole is there anyway of making the plastic bottle a wraparound they've already figures out the slinky

The bottle wins!!!!

@@mikemitchem4846 they are persistent little rodents.
the slinky worked for about a month.
Mine worked for 2 hours 😆
I love mansplainers...
I love my man very much. We love giving each other a hard time and enjoy being together. I womansplain him too.
the bottle worked but not the slinky lol
At one point it sounded like the squirrel was trying to turn over the tripod and camera 😆
@@BobbiJo omg you ae welcome honey
‘Compromised’ slinky- full slinky seemed to work. But bottle seems to be a better deterrent.
You're overthinking the whole securement all you have to do is bend the end of the slinky back on itself and twist it together
Thanks. It didn't work at keeping the squirrels away anyway. We turned it into peanut wreath feeder for the birds.

They are all over this neighborhood but they go away when the weather gets hot.
