    Although I've watched every episode of your Porsche 911 RS tribute build, Datsun 240 Z build and your ongoing Alphararri build, in my estimation, this may have been your most satisfying episode I've watched. That’s saying a lot! I absolutely love watching you fabricate, and problem solve. Not only were you able to implement the bimodal exhaust feature, you made it look great too. Congratulations.

    Two comments related to my custom exhaust setup in my 911: 1. I have similar setup as you with 2 big baffled mufflers. They tend to get hot, so keep in mind potential problem of ruining the paint in your fibreglas bumper. My setup drones a lot. 2. The electric cutouts do get broken, due heat and vibration. The OEM quality vacuum operated are much better. ! - Good luck with your build! . I have too a 105 and a 911, both hotrods!

    Great work, love watching the process.......that said (in my opinion) it looks goofy! Pipes far to wide and boxes hang to low. I’d put the old one back on or just put smaller single pass boxes on. Or GT3 centre pipes would look more fitting on Harry plus its easier to utilise the bypass motors.

    To be honerst I doubt the old muffler was restricting the powder, but it was a bit nasty.
    Common Porsche knowlege, x-pipe doesnt do anything other than lower the noice, can even decrease power.
    X pipes might be benefical in a uneven fire engine like an american V8. But ever that is debateable.

    Your workmanship and attention to detail is right up there Jeff - nice job. Can’t wait to see it through to completion. I’m thinking it would look good with a set of quad oval tailpipes as per many 997 upgrades. Just my 2cents.

  • @hotdognr12323
    @hotdognr12323 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a great looking exhaust, I can't wait to hear it roar!
    The only thing I'd do different is to (as someone mentioned before me) add some bracing between the mufflers to take some stress off the x-pipe. I'd also consider adding a flex bellows thing on one of the sections between the header and the muffler to compensate for thermal expansion. It could wear the header bolts over time with the heat cycles if not taken into account.
    Anyways, keep it up, you're the best youtuber around when it comes to DIY automotive projects!

    Man! Your level of fabrication is just admirable!
    I did something similar with ready made valved muffler (from ebay) in my XR and hooked the activation button to my Vipec (Link ECU's older brother) to also activate variable length intake valve. Currently I'm in the middle of setting a secondary ignition map to activate too - thus giving me a sport button functionality. More conservative map is used with exhaust valve closed and more aggressive map is used when the valve is open. I bet you could play with dual ignition maps with Link ECU too, should you wish to do so.

    I know it's a taste thing, but you could switch to a central exhaust tip.
    Easier if a twin pass muffler exist (I don't know). Straight pipe to muffle with one button. ^^
