My wife is just a tad over 5' and cute as a bug. Totally mellow and approachable, so not a type-A personality. So in other words, might give some people the impression she's meek and a push over. She used to lead backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking trips, etc. She had a commercial license for 15 passenger vans and regularly drove up to the snow. You should have seen the faces of the sexist men on her trips when she jumped out, chained up and drove through the snow like a pro! She's awesome behind the wheel. An excellent driver who cut her teeth navigating a VW camper all over creation. As a mountain biker, I think it prepared her well for 4X4 driving. She had done NONE in her life up until one year we rented Jeeps in Moab, UT. These were manuals, mind you. We chose a nice 40 mile route of unfamiliar territory. But we were a party of four in two Jeeps, so we knew if disaster befell us, we had a back-up vehicle to bail out with.
Well, we encountered some truly gnarly terrain and I must say, my wife (and I 4X4'ing for the first time) charged up, around and through it all with confidence. In fact, we got through some stuff so crazy, I thought to myself, "Man, I sure hope we don't have to double-back! Not sure we'd make it the other way!" We had a great day. No mishaps, mechanicals or oopses to speak of. We emerged unscathed and got our full security deposits back! So awesome to watch her drive like a pro. So proud.
So all you deek-heads out there thinking women can't handle Harry, stuff it!
But the wife hasn't been to a track yet, so there are still a few things on the old bucket list...

Jeff the induction noise is so intoxicating it sounds soooo good; you would be pressed hard to stop driving Harry and put him to bed.
And I think Harry is more of a Roxanne as she is one Sexy beast.
Now you have to get Boxster's gizzards fixed! I can't wait to see Mrs. Jeff togged out , helmet and all, for track day. Once she got the hang of where the low speed torque would start the car rolling she did quite well- and she certainly did get it- she smiled through the entire experience. Good on ya, mate! PS; give Benny a call- he can put you in touch with Allen at the Skid Factory- he custom makes slip joints for exhaust pipes.

Mrs. Jeff is Awesome. Great conversation and glad she loves the 911. That was actually the best driving video you have posted so far of Harry. Were you able to hear any difference full throttle with the valves open and closed? I would suspect that is where you would hear it the most, not at idle.

I was enjoying watching Ms. Jeff enjoying herself behind the wheel when she finally figured out the box.
And as Ms. Jeff, non car people don't understand to take a drive just for a drive before they drive a old car with caracter.
I have a 78' Capri, and like the 911, it's a car that you have to drive, it will not drive itself.
Mine is fitted with a 2.3 V6, all my other Capris before that also featured V6 engines (either 2.8 or 3.0 ones), and I love the sound of a 6cyl engine, a straight 6 not so much.
It was amazing to watch Mrs Jeff go from stalling to becoming comfortable with Harry and really enjoying the ride 👍
She's a good sport! It didn't take long for her to discover the famous 915 shifter vagueness. I remember you changed the coupler bushes, but maybe a nice short-shifter is in order as well?

Nice to see Mrs. Jeff enjoying herself. Opinion time: If the exhaust valves were open for the shooting of this video, then you achieved the note and loudness this car should have, because it sounds perfect. No matter what position, the new exhaust from the old is like night and day. Good job.
This video is with the old exhaust, which sounds amazing. I am just worried it could be a power restriction.

She's right autos were rare in nz once upon a time, and we learnt to drive manual well as demonstrated by your good wife, cheers from Auckland...

That will improve over time as she discovers rev matching. Right now she's losing too many revs between shifts.

Jeff, you are really lucky to have a partner like her who enjoys the same things that you do. Cherish her and all the wonderful memories you make together. It will not last forever and either one of you who outlives the other will have only these videos to remember each other by. ( Missing my life partner more than you could ever know)

Maybe a nice idea now the exhaust doesnt work the way you want, to make something more lightweight and compact.
Maybe design and build the muffler yourself? This one was nicely made and thought out as all stuff you build, but it is quite big. The original is too.

Nice driving Mrs Jeff pretty smooth. Jeff you are right I never thought here in the UK we would be having any problems getting a manual but I have seen now with the Hybrid & the influx of all electric you either get fully auto or on the hybrid its an auto or flick the lever and you can use paddles.
Very true - an Auto used to be the sign of a luxo-barge or an 'old man's' car. Times are changing, but personally I'd always want a manual.

Congrats Jeff, Mrs Jeff is the best. Once you get it all dialled and tuned properly I'd love to you blast up the Mac Passor Moss Vale Rd through Barrengarry. Sounds great when driving as well.
Mrs Jeff is an excellent driver for not attending any high performance driving schools. I think she's definitely a keeper.

Can't get enough of the sound of that engine (inside or outside the car), so good. Shame dual-mode exhaust v1.0 didn't work out, but I reckon you should persevere - it's got to be worthwhile for long road trips.

The tuning is definitely making a difference Jeff car seems to be running sweetly. I know your disappointed with the flappers not making any difference but the exhaust sounds 👌🏻as it is.
I notice the rpms fall VERY quickly between changes and seem to drop to below 1000 rpm... it’s ok when pressing on or on track but makes smooth driving difficult as misses Jeff found out... should be able to ‘catch’ the rev drop at 1500-1800 rpm in the tuning- this is the region OEM’s normally ‘catch’ the rev’s after fuel cut off above for this reason. 👍
Although look at the rev counter later in the video, it is all over the shop 😂

The exhaust valve actuator control module could create electrical noise, so avoid wiring to the power supply for the Link ECU.
Also could you wire it into the ECU to open on deferent TPS sensor positions.
I actually wired it into the same fuse as the lower coil packs, not actually to the ECU.
There's an upside to a high distribution of roundabouts, lots of ability to experience cornering!
Although I think the exhaust looks like crap under the rear bumper, it's sounds really nice inside on camera. Maybe you can place some sheet metal across it to get a more OEM look?

Jeff, I have the Gundo hack on my 997. The exhaust noise only increases under reasonable load. See if yours does the same.

You mentioned that the clutch is juddery. I'd give it a few thousand k's before you judge it too much, needs to be worn in I reckon, and bedded into the flywheel

Valve's don't make a difference because they are not connected to the tube inside, only to the muffler housing.
It sounds already great though, does not need it!

When you built the mufflers last video, you said there was a pipe that went though the muffler body. You never connected to that tube. Now I understand it is probably perforated pipe inside, but that's probably partially why it isnt any louder. You need to dump before the muffler.
