  • Welcome back everyone! In this video we are showing how to relearn the TPMS sensors that came with my 2014 Silverado's new tire and wheel setup. This process should apply to most GM vehicles from the same generation including:
    Suburban, Yukon, Sierra, Tahoe, and more!

    Glad I watched your video. My truck had hell picking up that tool. Took several times but I took off the orange rubber cover and it seemed to help.

      The correct place to aim the tool is below the valve stem where the wheel and the tire meet. That's where the sensor is located and that's where the instructions for the tool says to aim it. You can clearly see in the video that the first wheel he does he is pointing the tool at the valve stem but toward the TPMS sensor and then the horn blows. The reason why the second wheel doesn't respond right away is that he's aiming the tool at the valve stem but away from the sensor. If you do it correctly there's no need to remove the orange rubber cover of the tool.

    I bought the relearn tool (EL-50448) from Amazon for a little bit less than 10 bucks. It worked perfectly on my 2014 Chevy Silverado. In the video he keeps pointing the tool at the valve stem. The correct place to aim the tool is below the valve stem where the wheel and the tire meet. The sensor is below the valve stem.

    Those wheels and tires look great! Thanks for the quick video! Just had 2 sensors go bad after about 3 years so I had the shop change them but for some reason they couldn’t program them 🤨 I have pretty much the same tool you got, but couldn’t remember how to get to the relearn mode. Gotta love the excessive honks that go with it 🤣

      @@TheSundaeDrive so I got the new sensors installed but one of them won’t communicate with my scan tool, so I’m gonna return them and try a different brand. Always something! That TPMS light is driving me nuts 🤣

      @@TheSundaeDrive definitely, my buddy told me to just set each new sensor on each wheel and then go around and do the relearn and have them pair up to the truck and then mark what sensor went to what wheel and have the shop install them accordingly

    Hey, Cliff and watchers. I've got a 2014 silverado LTZ. I had to have the truck running to get learning mode activated.
    I'm going to try the deflation method Doug Anderson mentioned before I seek buying that tool. Seems like a tool that will rarely be used, unless some friends need it.
    That said, I'll venmo someone for the tool if you ship it to me. Then keep it as a rotating tool all viewers can use if they want. Overzealous on that I'm sure. 😂
    Thanks for another informative video!

    If you don’t have a tool you can let air out of each tire until the horn blows. Then fill them back up when you’re done

      I believe so. Lowering the pressure activates the sensor just like the tool does.

      @wildbluyonder11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check out Scotty Kilmer's TH-cam channel. If you don't know who he is, he's a well respected mechanic who pretty much knows everything automotive and doesn't pull any punches. He says Sea Foam is worthless

    • @wildbluyonder11
      @wildbluyonder11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joshua Thomas, I think we're talking about two different things. I'm talking about, and I'm assuming Jorge is also talking about, Sea Foam, the oil and fuel additive. Otherwise, why would he mention the engine type and mileage?

    • @marine070318
      @marine070318 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i use Sea Foam in all my gad engines... not really concerned about what Scotty says my dad was a aircraft mechanic for 35 years in the USAF... I've been using seafoam for 30 years keeps my plugs clean in all my vehicles keeps it flushed out from ethanol gas and also cleans my injectors pretty good as well

    • @wildbluyonder11
      @wildbluyonder11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Mike, from what I understand, it may be helpful in older gas engines, like from the 80's and earlier and, of course, things like lawn mowers and outboard engines. It doesn't do much for the newer computer controlled engines but people still believe in the advertising and the placebo effect of it. To each their own. I guess if you believe in it, keep using it.

    • @jessicalacosse5998

      Really any additive is bad and I wouldnt use for a Silverado with that few miles on it. I would only use if youre trying to buy some time out of a vehicle until its replaced

    just checked that out through the Amazon link you have in your description. this one got a poor rating. I don't mind paying money for something if it works but there were some cheaper ones that look similar that had four plus Stars.

      I also linked to a cheaper one in the description. This happened to be the one I got when ordering from tire rack so I know it works but I agree, there are better rated ones which is why I included another that seems to work from the ratings.

    On a side note. This doesn't work with the newer Silverado wheels/tires.
    I threw on some 18" Trailboss wheels on my '14 and tried to reset. The newer '19+ have new sensors that do not work with 14-18 trucks. You'll have to get new sensors or have your old ones transfered over.

      On Amazon. I bought the vxdas gl-50448 TPMS reset tool and it works with the sensors that are on the new gen 2019 Chevy Silverados. I just checked it out and I resets the sensors perfect.

    • @ryandelannoy2198
      @ryandelannoy2198 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HowtowithPaulHenderson I bought that one too and was unsuccessful in reprogramming the sensors. I'm just saying that information from the dealer and my experience, the sensors from a 2019+ will not communicate with the 2014-2018 trucks computer. The sensors were changed and the frequency that the new sensors run on vs the frequency the 14-18's are programmed for are different.

    • @HowtowithPaulHenderson
      @HowtowithPaulHenderson 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryandelannoy2198 I was looking at a new sensors on Amazon to get some idea of which ones they say will work with my truck and which ones. gets kind of confusing c some say they're programmed for the Chevy Silverados,so I wonder if this tool would work with one of the aftermarket TPMS and will thise sensors communicate with the computer. so I'm going to stop by the dealership today to see which ones they put on my truck and see what the frequency is.... The tool I had bought did it very fast I was surprised,
