    I though he would talk about it at the end, but another very important tip is to check the hook states of your team, and sometimes deliberately throw yourself at the killer. Hooks are also a resource, and spreading them between the team if possible is a good thing. Also, you can easily check if the killer has interest in chasing you and go back to a game goal if that’s not the case.

      So true. Sometimes depending on the context I deliberately run into the killer’s POV so they could hopefully chase me who has no hook or one hook. And save whoever is on death hook from being chased

    • @thefear420
      @thefear420 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Was about to comment this, hook stages are crucial. Can't tell you how many times the entire team is death hook and the only person with 0 hooks is still on a gen when anyone else could do that.

    • @AzalofForossa
      @AzalofForossa ปีที่แล้ว +9

      The bad part is when you're good at looping, the killer will intentionally ignore you, because they know they'll waste too much time trying to chase you. I try to save my best loops for when I'm on death hook, if you go down normally the first and second time, they'll usually overchase because they think you're just getting lucky on that last chase, little do they know they're being played like a fiddle. Just sucks when I try really hard on the first chase, and I literally stop existing after that, so I am stuck on gen duty bc the killer won't do anything beyond pushing me off a gen.

      Sometimes I fail at it but I personally often try to help my teammates who're about to be hooked the third time, if I wasn't hooked at all, and sometimes even when I already WAS hooked once. The amount of times I've run past my teammates who're just sitting on their gens with 0 hooks while I'm about to die and not even bothering to help me in any way is beyond me. With just one teammate out of the match, everything usually starts falling apart...

    To add on: Reassurance, Rebecca's perk, is exetremly strong in Solo Queue. Since the introduction of the Anti FACECAMP mechanic, killers stay out of the anti hook range and wait for the unhook. Running up with Reassurance, applying it to a hooked teammate, then running away, depending on the situation, tends to be a better play.
    I've gotten many killers to leave the Reassured survivor time and time again, to chase me instead.
    I haven't taken off Reassurance since anti face camping was introduced, it's had a ton of value.
    Scott: "If the killer intends to tunnel, the safest place for the survivor is on the hook. They can't be killed while on the hook". Paraphrased a little bit. It's absolutely true.
    In a swf, if each person has Reassurance, proxy camping becomes almost a non issue.
    Good luck gamers. Thanks for the video Scott!

  • @JustXiox
    @JustXiox ปีที่แล้ว +24

    If you've ever been absolutely destroyed by a team and they say they're solo queue, it's because everyone knows the priority. The guy who is injured dead on hook isn't going for the save, you have 1 hook stage and the other guy has 0. The guy with zero knows he's the best person to go save, you know that - he knows that - so you do a gen. You now have two people doing gens (or resetting) and a guy going for a save with absolutely no downtime. Even if your teammate goes down kind of fast, if they know just to split up and run away to a corner that's already so much more helpful than looping a pallet right next to a gen. There's an order of operations and the closer you follow it the smoother your games will go. Being on a team where everyone knows what to do, the solo queue god squad, is a thing of beauty.

    • @Rye-jl2fk
      @Rye-jl2fk ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I only destroy baby killers. Idk how a solo queue team destroys competent killers unless they're just really skilled because sometimes you do everything right and the killer is just too skilled.

      @@Rye-jl2fk 1000% this. Both you and @JustXiox nailed it. I have 2500+ hours of playing survivor exactly as Scott describes, and I kid you not, 90/100 games would end in a 4k; leaving 5/100 1k - 3k games, 4/100 baby killer games, then 1/100 being the glorious solo god squad.

    I find that putting on some music at medium to low volume while playing makes the game so much more fun for me (especially if its goofy aaa music), that and silly builds makes solo q great as well. my favorite build is (Head on, Background player, Flashbang, Blast Mine.)- I've ran that build overall for probably 150 hours and I'm still not bored. Most of all I think its the mindset you have when coming into a solo q game - probably sounds stupid but when I go into games with a positive attitude I do 1,000 times better than if I had come into a match tired or upset. Watching some TH-cam when searching for matches also helps me reset and clear my mind. (you should always be taking breaks as well) any game will become frustrating after playing it straight for to long. Anyways I wish you all the best in enjoying your games more

    I disagree that the HUD is "as good as comms", but I do think it's underutilized. It gives you a LOT more information than people may realize. It can even help you determine if a Killer is camping, AFK, or is possibly trying to set up a 3 gen from refusing to commit to chases. You can also anticipate when your adrenaline goes off, you can pre-run to exit gates, and you can even prolong someone's life by looking at hook states.

    • @eliasar5051
      @eliasar5051 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scott is not saying that HUD is as good as comms generally, but in many situations like those showcased, it is just as good because everyone knows what other people are doing and can act accordingly. Then he talked about the limitations of HUD too.
      Personally, I too think the HUD is getting overlooked a lot and then we see complaints about no info bad info and general solo queue salt most of which could be avoided if people paid attention.

    • @Rye-jl2fk

    This is helpful, but I feel like for most people who are attuned to the game enough to be watching a Scott Jund video, they know a lot of this stuff. The only way to make solo queue bearable is psychological. Constantly manage expectations. Assume you’re not going to escape any of your matches, but always re-evaluate that assumption. Have you loaded into an advantageous map with a novice killer? Adjust your expectations upwards to a possible escape. Are you going up against MomoSeventh? Consider that even doing one generator is a massive success. Is the game going badly, quickly? At least you’re earning bloodpoints. Prioritize tome challenges. Don’t be afraid to carry and set the tempo of the match, but only if you want to. It’s your time and it’s your game: you can choose to derive fun and satisfaction from it, or you can choose not to.

    • @LuckyKat89TV
      @LuckyKat89TV ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh please, it’s very obvious that this is a team game and that two people should not pull the weight of four because at the end of the day it’s just not possible for very long. All anyone is asking is that you do your part get out of the locker get out of the corner. Hook states are resource that one person that ran killer all match could use one hit to get out the door for crying out loud.
      Nothing like running the killer the whole match only to get down right in front of the gate with everyone else healthy with no hooks. You really mean to tell me you couldn’t take a hit. ?
      This is a team game so I expect team effort. It’s really not rocket science.
      From now on once I get frustrated I bond with diversion. Best of luck, hiding in the corner while the rest of us do all the work lol.

      @superdazed I have no idea why the guy above replied the way he did lmao. Everything you said is completely true. I've been saying this for so damn long, I genuinely think for survivor specifically, the mindset of many is really off. A lot of people think that if you die, you just lose. That's not necessarily the case though.
      Like for me, even if I get hard tunneled out of the game, as long as I play solid in loops, don't use every single pallet on the map and run the killer for a while, that's a dub in my book. I gave my team a shit ton of time to get gens done and stuff, ya know.
      Same thing if I get camped. I actually genuinely love when I get camped. I have a collection of screenshots saved on my steam of every time I'm camped. Feels like an accomplishment to me. Especially if they're camping me after I ran them for a long chase lol.
      The only thing that gets on my nerves sometimes, these days, are when someone's playing like blight for example and they are slugging with 5 gens left. That can be tilting sometimes. Other than that, honestly it's all good for me.
      Sorry for ranting lmao. Somewhat unrelated to your whole point, just wanted to chime in lol.

    I wish everyone would watch this and take it to heart. In my internal monologue, I call this "counting to four." As in, think about what all four survivors are doing. I frequently have scenarios where someone will be hooked, another in chase, I'm on a gen at 50%, and the last person (healthy, no hooks) does nothing for 20 seconds, then sits down on a fresh generator. My guy, did you not look at the HUD at any point?!

    1) great information perk with basically no downsides
    2) can’t be countered by survivor perks

    My tip for solo queue: NEVER bring any perk that contains the text "When you unhook a survivor". In solo queue, everyone is a goddamn unhook ninja, and while I have a safe flowchart to decide when to go save (even if at worst, it means *maybe* going for a trade), teammates are rushing it long before me (and, quite likely, getting the victim tunneled).
    I'd challenge most solo queue players to close their eyes, and take a guess when *60 seconds* have passed. It's PLENTY of time. In fact it's funny that the B-roll is Garden of Joy, since I actually got a tunnel victim out on this map thanks to a teammate using Reassurance - something I picked up on by, as Scott suggests, watching the UI (hook pausing shows through the red bar flashing). Not just using Reassurance, but then *not immediately unhooking anyway*. I ended up finishing last gen, saving the teammate at the tail end of that pause, and they got out.

I know I'm still confused about quite a few killers because I had been out of the game for a long time and this would be beneficial for both survivors and players who are thinking about getting certain killers.

    I think making Solo Que bearable only needs one thing. A Proxy Chat between Survivors. That's it. Let your teammates talk to each other....cause one of the key things teammates need to be able to do is communicate with each other. If you wanna make it interesting, maybe find a way to make it detectable by the killer if their within a certain radius and you talk too loud.

Like, it's true, a lot of people don't want to talk to randoms. But that's why there's a mute function. If you don't want to do it then just dont and let the people who do, do...
      This same argument is used in league of legends. A game that requires infinitely more macro and micro skill and it still doesn't have coms. Makes no sense to me.

      "I hate how I'm leading the killer away and my team won't touch gens!"
      A pinging system or chat, or even a messaging system in game, might be able to help with that. You can't bitch about things like that then when the solution is offered shut it down with a reason like "people don't want to talk to strangers." That's stupid. But, if the devs don't want to do it it is what it is. Personally that almost seems like a way to handicap survivors or force them to play the game in a way that the devs want them to play (kinda like the medkit "fix" imo).

    Spreading out on gens is definitely the right strategy, but I wonder what Scott's thoughts are on if you happen to be running Prove Thyself? For instance, say I'm on a gen by myself and someone else comes up and joins me, and either I or the other person have Prove Thyself, the speed bonus we both get from the perk mitigates some of the benefit of me running to a different gen.

    • @Magemali
      @Magemali ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm willing to bet Scott thinks that prove thyself is a bad soloq perk. the reason you spread out isn't because of the speed loss from multiple people on a gen, but because the killer coming over can pressure two survivors off a gen instead of just one. the idea is to be working on as many different gens as you can to keep your map pressure spread as much as possible

    @4:14. I respectfully disagree. I won’t go so far as to say healing is always a waste of time. In this case, a gen is being progressed, so it’s OK. However a chase is in progress, and I believe healing is less efficient than working on gens. Even in this case, if you two work on a gen, the injured person can stay and keep working while you get the unhook. Again, as long as a gen is progressing, it’s OK, but I think the biggest mistake Survivors make is healing at an inefficient time or healing when no gens are progressing. This is a big debate that I’d like to see discussed, but I think healing should only happen in a few situations. 1). No chase in progress, which means killers are really not making any progress. 2). The unhooked Survivor is on death hook. 3). At least one gen is being worked on, but even then I wouldn’t personally recommend it. I’d love discussion on this.

    The problem is that the people likely to watch this video are the ones who are already trying to be helpful. Great tips nonetheless that helps double down that but yeah it's preaching to the choir a little bit. See there's the dreaded thing called 'tome challenges' which is a significant part of the reason most solo queue team mates are awful. Take the example given at 3:26. The person behind you backs off, but if they had an 'unhook' challenge or a 'healing' challenge, there is a good chance they'd have tried their best to get that unhook anyway. Also applies to generators too at the start. There's a few that require you to do cooperative actions for x amount of time. Now if you are running away from a gen and that person has the challenge well...
    Those challenges are also mild examples because they are likely to occur in natural play. Sniff the killers butt (without getting caught) or whatever it is and 'cleanse totems'. Ew. Those things need to die in a fire. If you want to encourage people to interact with totems or whatever, make them 'run this generic perk (e.g small game/inner healing though that's gone now yeah? Haven't played since then) for x games'. This way it's actually helpful and doesn't encourage players to throw games for the sake of their tome challenges. If the perk comes into play, great! If it doesn't it doesn't matter, progress is still made. Sure some people might hook suicide or whatever to get it over with but you could make it time based instead. Like run x perk for 10 minutes of gameplay.

    Good. Now I just need to send this to three other survivors every game.

    Its not really having nobody to play with, some ppl like me have plenty to invite but for ALOT of complicated reasons i wanna sometimes play alone and i do find more fun in solo q than with my swf, sadly solo sucks so bad that i fall back to my friends that i don't wanna play with just to make survivor playable

      I think solo queue is alot more fun than survive with friends. Everything is more of a mystery and you have to make quick assessments on team member strengths and shortcomings which make the match much more exciting. The only time solo queue sucks is when a player or players throw the match.
