    Great vid. My rotor arm was broken off when i got the car, but was in the back seat. I superglued them back together, but i really want to replace it, because you know, superglue 😂
    Did not see that screw, and my guess is neither did the guy before me breaking it off trying to remove it.

    To replace wires on new cap all you have to do is remove each wire while matching the new cap to old cap as it lays then switch them that's it easy then just lay new cap with wires aside until you are ready to replace it. Really simple method

    With the grommet in the spark plug socket just push the spark plug in just a little and gently screw it in a few turns then remove the spark plug
    take out the grommet and finish tightening the spark plug works every time. I have to do this on my tundra and it works like a charm.

    Ive searched all over youtube for a 88-91 cap and rotor video and finally found this one. I must say this is a great video. Its a shame you weren't more specific with the title as I would think you could of had many more hits. O well...thanks again.

    To turn the engine all you need to do is put it in neutral then use a socket ratchet to turn engine by turning the belt pulley or any other unit like the alternator this way you don't need to struggle trying to turn it by cranking it

    It does matter you need to put the right firing order for spark plugs

    Thank you for the video, What happen if does not have the shield ?

    • @A_Renaissance_Man
      @A_Renaissance_Man  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure has been a while since I had a look a this but, a shield either directs the flow of cooling air in or around something or the shield protects something on one side or the other from the heat for various reasons.

    Yes, what is, "bumping the engine," and how is that accomplished?? Dying to know, since it is essential to this procedure, and I am right about to change these parts on my EF. Please respond.

      "Bumping the engine" in the mechanic world is tapping your ignition in to the start position to get everything spinning but not holding down long enough to allow the starter's bendix to turn over the engine. You "bump" the key for a second....."bumping the engine"

    why is my engine shaking a lot and has no power

  • @tommyogrady8244
    @tommyogrady8244 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    does the distributor turn counterclockwise

    • @A_Renaissance_Man
      @A_Renaissance_Man  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The distributor movement is based on where it is in the lock. More important of the year models shown 88-91 the distributor rotor can be installed upside down so make sure you know the number one cylinder's position. Specifically top dead center.

    What does bump the engine mean?

    • @cdoublejj
      @cdoublejj 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      use the key start to make the engine ALMOST turn over like your going to start it. if done right the engine will only turn a partial turn.

    The gutless DPFI DX?

    • @journeyquest1
      @journeyquest1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont think they came with allen head screw from factory. My 90 CRX DX had philips screw type.

    • @A_Renaissance_Man
      @A_Renaissance_Man  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@journeyquest1 Correct. The allen head was installed because the screw would be easier to loosen and tighten without damaging the head. Lock tight is needed in this model or it will walk out and the car will not start.

    • @blkcrappyescorts
      @blkcrappyescorts 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      journeyquest1 factory OEM comes with the Allen head. Aftermarket comes with a cheap Phillips head screw

    I had a spring pop out with a little tube fuse you don't have that...

    • @A_Renaissance_Man
      @A_Renaissance_Man  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the distributor cap has the spring and carbon tip that connects to the rotor.

    Turn over the engine slightly with the key.
