Unfortunately I don't expect them, but I definitely want them. I hear people call for Dogs of War, Araby, Nippon, and Ind... like cool, more humans, but Khuresh seems to be the last untouched full monster faction, and would be a great expansion to the Lizardman lore.
Well people felt gameworkshop should get fancy with it. Like the Cathayan dragons existed when the warhammer world was where the apex predators lived in. This means there should be powerful figures still hidden away which means descendants of this powerful creatures can exist.
@@alecshockowitz8385 The more I think of Dogs of War, I would really just want a custom Lord creator for minor factions like what we got for Daniel. Creating, and ruling a ancient Naga Empire really has captured my imagination. I really hope they do have a DLC for Khoresh and their struggles to expand against the Ind and Cathay. Tapping into South East Asian mythology is something that has really not be done in any detail and is a rich tapestry that could easily be woven into Warhammer adding a new and unique race while tapping into work already done in 3 Kingdoms with a snake twist.
I fell instantly in love with the “Naga” introduced in Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne. That cutscene where Illidan summons them from the depths…. Still gives me chills. Anyway, I’m super down for snakemen in Warhammer
The orobogor is based off the tikbalang of Filipino mythology in appearance they are identical and in lore they are similar also im glad they added a spitting Cobra style because not many people know about that species of cobra.
Give us a “Burrowing” or tunneling option on the battlefield!!! Like flying but beneath the ground, maybe make them un-targetable/invisible until they surface 😈
I'm no modder, but I wonder if a modder could simulate burrowing by creating a dust cloud, deleting the unit, and spawning the unit with a dust could elsewhere like a "summon" spell
Honestly a stance switching caster hero sounds cool, instead having to pick between the two lores just recruit one of the hero’s and depending if they are in “horizontal whirling” they get access to buff/fire spells and vice versa
So, ok. I took a look at the Kuresh fan project and I gotta say, it IS really cool. The art, the attention to detail, and the focus on Indian and SEA mythology is great. BUT... I also get the feeling it's too much, unrestrained. So many units have so many gifts or traits, that while thematic or fulfilling a vision, end up adding excess kibble/bloat to units. if transformed into a real army it would need to be honed down to it's essential constituent components - what are essentially Chaos Lizardmen continuing the work of the Old Ones in their own evil and twisted way via bio-sorcerous manipulation and experiments. Grand Cathay's concept art was made by the same guy who made most of these: Cobol Yu.
I’ve been following this project both her and on World Anvil, and much as I marvel at the creativity and variety of this faction, they strike me as very OP. To be expected in a lot of fan-made works, I know, but looking over all the units and formations, it’s really hard to see their weaknesses. Even their baseline troops make Saurus and Chaos Warriors look like State Spearmen. And they have human auxiliaries and bioengineered freaks and supernatural entities that easily compensate for their lack of numbers… despite them not seeming to have that problem, anyway. Can I get some insight on this? I’d love to see these guys make an appearance in the game, even just as a mod, but right now, seems like there’s be no reason they wouldn’t conquer the world pretty easily.
To be fair, every faction seems OP from their respective lore. If you read anything for say the High Elves -- their spearmen are the fastest, more accurate, brilliant spearmen in the entire world. It's just the general "propaganda" that fills each army book. The authors took this same beat to make the Khuresh army book FEEL like a tried and true 8th edition, with each description sounding extremely over powered. Essentially every army book establishes a baseline profile for the race that is then improved upon with each unit. Take again, for example, the High Elf Spearmen. They have very low toughness and strength relative to a lot of the other humanoid factions, but have high movement skill, high initiative, and good leadership. These values are not broken mechanically, they're just "better." It's a game of percentages and dice rolling, so even being one point better in a specific stat line makes you %XX better than others for that specific test. Does this help sort of put things into perspective? :)
I actually had the pleasure of receiving a message from a member of the team and we discussed about the potential weaknesses. Many of the Snakemen Units, except the Pannaga Rasaka, don’t wear much armour and rely more on physical resistances. Most of the units would also be pretty expensive except for the Fang Thralls who are more like meat shields. Ranged would also be an issue. Yes they have the Naja and Fang Thrall blowpipers but that’s about it. Adding to that is the lack of light cavalry. Of course the fan project isn’t finished yet so we’ll have to see until then!
I can see a big weakness. Their unit sizes are small and they make up for this with magic and big monster units. The only large number units so far are human fangthralls. Pretty sure most lore is written is from the perspective of the faction or an Empire scholar. Explained out of game by bias being a plenty.
They also will Probaly have the same problem the ogres do in that they have a weakness to anti large and really suffer against missle heavy armies like the empire or high elves.
Listened to this a few days ago and was excited to see you keeping up with this series. I hope they really bring this faction in and bring it to life, but this might not be possible either sadly. Regardless keep up with this series as you always do good representing the people who are putting together this nice rich lore. I really enjoy this and ur leader speculation/discussion! Good work Italian!
the one thing I don't like about this lore is making them failed Old One Experiments. I'd rather they be their own species, like they existed in the Warhammer World long before the Old ones and were driven underground (Naga are said to live in underground kingdoms) and courted darker powers. When Chaos came they rose up and conquered the lands of khuresh defiling the Old ones temples for their purposes. Hell could give them their own dedicated Chaos God like Hashut and the Horned Rat.
There's basically a lot of Beastmen like creatures in other parts of the world but because it's a different biome with different species you get other types of Beastmen. Like Snake, monkey, and Tiger people
I believe that Khuresh is likely going to feature in the Old World at some point (Assuming it doesn’t Flop financially), since Cathay is getting a full Table Top Army and one of their major central characters is likely to be Li Dao, who defends the southern Border of Cathay from Ind and Khuresh. Whether Khuresh shows up in Game 3 is going to depend a lot the timeframe that it takes for GW to develop an actual Khuresh Army and how long CA decides to support Game 3. Fortunately as we’ve seen with Kislev and Cathay an army can show in Warhammer 3 before their Table Models are released or even announced.
We need Kuresh, Ind, Nippon and the blatantly obvious Chaos Dwarves. While I'm a fan of Estallia i don't care about Estallia nearly as much as i care about those three. Ind because all the Gods walk among us type stuff and the mix with Beastmen. Nippon for all the Yokai and Samurai BS. And Kuresh because they honestly are perfect for another solid evil faction and with Blood Bowl recently getting a snakeman and Amazons seeing Kuresh Naga's and Snakes vs Amazons and their Snakes would be a awesome match up...and this is from a guy whose scared of snakes.

Great artwork and lore But I dislike that they basically invented the dark versions of Lizardmen/Dark elves/ Chais Dwarfs thats been done and done over and over again.... I think they should have gone with a race that already lived there before the arrival of the Old Ones somewhat related to the Fimir. Also while they used chaos brieftly, they don't serve it and mutated them somewhat from their original form. Their agenda is completly neutral, Humans serve them as servants. We need more neutral factions.

Same! Ind and Nippon seem particularly boring for WH3, roster wise, and they step too much territoriality on other good start positions for factions.
