    Got mine just like that from Hong Kong the other day. Ripped up my old gaming laptop and a desktop to fill it up with a 1TB NVME and 32 gigs of RAM. It was unstable during the first day (not starting up nor restarting properly). But it has become more stable on day two (I wonder if the algorhythms of the neural network are kicking in). I like it. I was using my gaming laptop as a work center since the pandemic started. I thought it would only be temporary. It ended up being my main work station from home (rather than the desktop I have upstairs that I built between last and this year). I was using an external monitor and keyboard anyway with my gaming laptop since early 2020, so I figured I would get something along these lines and make it official. Ever since the start of the pandemic, I have been moving toward the mini PC. The desktop is big and bulky. This NUC takes little space, is quiet and powerful. Desktops are not needed like they were back in the day. I have been building and rebuilding desktops since the mid 90's. The last desktop I built in 2021-2022 may be the last one I ever build. I get a pangue of nostalgia when I realize a PC era (desktop) may be coming to an end.

  • @GoodOldGamer
    @GoodOldGamer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    People in the comments are complaining that this doesn't have the screen and battery and keyboard that laptops have, but seem to forget that all of those add extra heat that this won't. That's a plus in my book.
    When are you going to be gaming on a laptop and not have it plugged in? Do you enjoy playing games at minimal setting for half an hour on the battery?
    If you wanna play on a 40" monitor, when are you ever using the laptop screen that's half the size? To check email that you can and will do on your phone instead?
    Do you have a Smart TV? Are you upgrading from an older PC? Then you have a monitor. Would you hook up a full keyboard and mouse to a laptop? Then you'd have to have those either way. You probably already do.
    I have a feeling that if you compared this mini PC and a laptop with the same specs over the long term, this mini PC would last longer. It doesn't have to carry the weight, heat or power for a monitor. It doesn't have to be blocked or heated up by the thick brick of a battery. It's better ventilated (because it's never on your lap, for one, and standing upright for another).
    And if you wanna upgrade or need to switch out the SSDs or ram, it's all of what, three screws to get the case off and plug and play the new bits in?
    I think the laptop lovers in the comments are underestimating this. Maybe they feel threatened, I dunno. I had a gaming laptop awhile back. Heat is always the biggest factor in how long they're gonna last you.

  • @nightbirdds

      On top of that, if you want to game on the go like on a train, sleeper bus, hometown, college dorm, etc. a gaming laptop will be FAR better suited to it. More than even the steam deck. Especially when you use DLSS and FG together.
      A chromebook is a not that cheap simple laptop. For saving like $200 to $300 you give up a better keyboard, upgradability, cooling, longevity, etc. Not to mention getting something MUCH weaker and less versatile. How? The chrome book cannot act as a gaming desktop. The gaming laptop can.

      @CodyCLI ปีที่แล้ว

      @@siyzerix I like to do a lot of AI upscaling and that works the best with Nvidia. I do like the Ryzen processors but compatability is spotty with AI.
      I live in Canada so the MSI Bravo while nice, is $1,884.99 Canadian, This mini PC is $1,449.00, I already have a monitor, mouse and keyboard. I also bought a Chromebook from someone in my building for a $100 its actually really quick with only a Pentium mobile processor, which was originally worth $400 when released. I mostly only use it to search things or watch videos. What I personally think laptops should be for. I just personally don't like the concept of gaming laptops.
      I think I mentioned moonlight which is a browser extention that allows you to locally stream from a computer instead of paying for a streaming service. It works very well, and I'm picky with latency. The 6 hour claim would depend on what you're doing with that laptop too.

    Mentioned using this next to a tv with steam big picture mode, this is something I think a lot of people overlook because it’s ideal for that kind of gaming, all the benefit of PC games mods add ons and graphical settings with all the comfort of console gaming big screen controller and a sofa
    Optional: throw a 4k projector in and do a custom resolution of 1440p@120 hdr on, with dlss fsr2 you won’t look back, even this nuc would be better than any console

      @@RandomGaminginHD it really is, any 4k projector that can do 1080@120 should do custom resolution 1440@120 with hdr and a good 80 plus projector screen, games like shadow of the tomb raider or faster pace games like doom eternal or destiny 2 just doesn’t look the same again, if you want competitive always go traditional monitor setup but chilled relaxing gaming there’s nothing like it well except for a 4k@120 projector but those are pricey but a poor man’s setup could be done for about £2k easily and you get a 4k home theatre movie setup too minus the speakers but I have a hack for that too
      But systems like the one you showed today can go a long way to helping out with setups like these

      both setups are good for playing at 1080p mid-high setting and provide a 2-4 year performance guarantee for the latest games, I assume video editing to be a consideration besides the gaming aspect, they can do smooth playback and render quickly 1:1 duration with heavy editing lots of effects, grading, layering with 1080p output, but RTX will be faster because of the CUDA engine, and for 4k editing the rtx 3070 is an absolute winner in terms of rendering speed and smooth playback from light to medium editing, the rx6600m also can do it with ryzen 9 brings better multicore performance due to experience while editing but its not quite pleasing with rendering time, a good standard rendering time is at least 1:1 with the duration of the video, assuming premiere pro as main software not davinci, but if you see the hx90g price is very tempting, I personally will wait for the intel 13th version
