Kösem is being sent to the old palace! With the death of Sultan Ahmed, the great apocalypse breaks out! While Ahmed's death is kept secret, Kösem writes an edict that will change everything for his children!
Kösem unites with Halime Sultan and ensures that Mustafa ascends the throne! Halime, on the other hand, ignores the agreement made when her son became sultan. When Kösem goes to the old palace, they put all of Kösem's children in a cage! Osman blames Kösem Sultan for what happened to him! There is great tension between his mother and son. Halime gives orders to kill Kösem, who is planning to dethrone Mustafa. Trying to escape from the cage, Osman is under great threat, and Kösem is one step closer to death!
Magnificent Century: Kosem is about Kosem Sultan married to the "State-i Aliyya", when her six-year-old son ascended to the throne, having the position of "Regent of the Sultanate", as well as the power gained by defeating all her enemies and becoming a sultan who brought the world to her knees with her regency. The power of Kosem Sultan became the greatest authority of the state through Murad IV, will be shaken by the iron fist of Sultan Murad, who wants to seize power. With his determination and might, Murad will give the Ottoman Empire its strongest period after Suleiman the Magnificent. The defeats of the state inside and outside will close the era.

It was so so so brave of Kosem to pull off her brave front when the love of her life, her husband is lying lifeless on that bed .. Oh Man, i cried and cried and cried so much for kind hearted Sultan Ahmed and Kosem Sultan ..
Changed laws because she didn't want her own sons kill each other for throne, but she had no hesitation killing Iskander n thought of changing laws never occurred then...
Nothing would have stopped Iskender from wiping out her children.

She wants to change system, the oldest prince (whoever son he is) take the throne. In this case, mustafa must sit on the thrones. If Osman directly take the throne while mustafa is alive, she can not change that stupid ancient rules where brother should kill brothers. And if she push to change rules (oldest prince become Sultan) while osman is on the throne, Halime can claim the throne. Making mustafa a sultan is a must.

Safiye keep blaming her daughter for Iskender, she cannot see her own traitor's actions. She helped to poison Ahmed with Jasmine. Osman's mother was killed when Safiye tried to take over. Ahmed was too kind to her. He should have finished choking her back before he put her in the Tower.

Mustafa's sister, I knew would be problem later on but her mothers acting so cruel to Kosem when Kosem saved all of their lives multiple times and trying to help her sneak in to see her son was just so low. I really like Halime's character except for this episode.

Oh I didn't get it before, it was Prince Mehmet who got his brother Osman caught on purpose!!! Waouw... There's no unity between them. And Kösem took the wrong decisions, I guess she was not in her right mind considering the grief, fear, pressure since years and now to it's highest point once again in a different way. She blew it
While I wait for the adult Murat, I'm seeing some things that I missed before, like that Guard who wants to kill Kosem. I noticed he rarely lift his head up, but just looks up with his eyes. That's scary. He looks so evil.
Halime and Dilruba tried to kill Kosem and the princes, had them locked up, and sent to the old palace, but they are still around when Osman gets the throne. How is that when Sayhia was sent to the middle of the sea to a dungeon with chains on her ankles for doing less than that.

There is not enough evidence in history to establish that Mustafa was mentally imbalanced when he came to the throne. It is assumed that his mental illness were rumours.
When Mustafa took the throne for the first time it was the first time an Ottoman Sultan was succeeded by his brother instead of his son. His mother Halime became Valide Sultan as well as regent and had great powers. Due to Mustafa's mental conditions Valide Sultan acted as regent and exercised direct power.
Yet Mustafa was a tool of court cliques at the palace. After ruling for a short time a palace faction deposed him in favour of his young nephew Osman II and Osman was sent to the Old Palace. But the Jannissaries rebelled and assassinated Osman II.
Then Mustafa commenced a second reign years after. He accomplished this by executing all those who had taken part in the murder of Osman II. Yet Mustafa's mental state got worse and was a puppet controlled by his mother and brother in law Grand Vizier Kara Davud Pasha.
There are different stories about Mustafa's death. One story is he was executed by his nephew Sultan Murad IV to end Ottoman dynasty rule and prevent giving powers to Kosem Sultan. Another story is he died of epilepsy which was caused by being imprisoned for 34 years. Mustafa is buried in the courtyard of Hagia Sophia.
You did not state the reason why the Janissaries rebelled and decided to execute Osman.
@Lillie Halumi the jannissaries were opposed to planned corps reform. Osman attempted to discipline the jannissaries and cut their pay which led to his execution.
When young Osman ascended the throne he dismissed the people assigned by his uncle and appointed others instead. This situation caused Osman to gain enemies in the palace.
Then Osman had his brother Prince Mehmet strangled and killed as he saw him as his rival. Yet, this execution event had a great impact in the society and the people cursed Osman.
At the same time there was a severe snowstorm and an unbelievable cold and since no ship could enter the strait under these conditions famine arose.
Despite the negatives Osman endured he did not give up and went on his expedition to Poland but the Ottoman soldiers could not defeat the Polish soldiers and ended the war by signing a Peace Treaty . After this time Osman thought that the Janisseries were no longer useful and he decided to change the military system, he even planned to abolish the Jannisary Corps.
Osman was an innovative Sultan he changed the custom of marrying concubines and he married the daughter Seyhulislam Esad Efendi. In the same period, the sultan stated that he wanted to go on a pilgrimage. Now this was the last straw as it was not common for sultans to leave their duties and go on a pilgrimage as it would put the state in danger. Also, rumours spread that Osman would set up a new army in Anatolia using the pretext of going on a pilgrimage.
After all these experiences Osman was declared irreligious and dangerous. Then Janissary revolts , including the Ulema class emerged. The rebels demanded the killing of several state officials but the Sultan did not give it to the rebels and he tore up the fatwa prepared by the ulema class.
Thereupon, the rebels wanted to put Mustafa I on the throne and they raided the palace. Then Mustafa was declared Sultan by the rebels. Meanwhile, Osman was dragged , subjected to humiliation and various persecutions before the townspeople. Later he was taken to Yedikule dungeons where he was later strangled.
You start by saying that there's no proof Mustafa had mental illness when he came to the throne, and then proceed to tell us how this and that person ruled in his stead because of his mental illness and his mental illness getting worse. Which is it?

We have had the oldest child of the King or Queen succeeds to the throne in Europe since it all started. After Queen Elizabeth died Charles became King even though a lot of people don't like him, after him it's William then his sons by age. Although I think it's the beginning of the end for them.
And the most wicked queen/sultana award goes to grandma....boy o boy talk about generational sins bring visited on the 3rd and 4th generations..multiplied.
