      Thing I don't get is how Starmer can say she'll be Chancellor for the entire length of this parliament, so however bad things get, slow growth, rising inflation, etc he's going to keep her however bad she is, I know he's probably not being honest but such a comment just defies common sense.

      ​@@jablot5054 To be fair the royals that actually do something can stay, sometimes having a permanent ambassador on standby who's face doesn't change every 4-5 years or depending on a leaders mood that morning is a good thing, foreigners love them and they do pretty well at promoting the brand that is the UK and so do actually generate more in tourism than they cost us, the rest that are total leaches and don't do anything useful yes they can go 100% agree on that.

    I would have more sympathy for Labour in general if £8 million a day wasn't being pissed away on migrant hotels, and even more on benefits post the probable asylum acceptance.

    A country that is indebted to the point of the UK can no longer do what it wants, it needs the money of others. Thus, it is they who are calling the shots now. Starmer can talk all he wants, but if the bond markets don't agree, he's going to be spanked hard by them, and the country will pay the price.

    Tax going up? A Dutch report estimated that the net cost of each “asylum migrant” to the country was €475,000 (£400,000). 35000 illegals came in this year (equating to £14 billion) but the worst is legal migration which is off the scale hence net migration of 800k plus

    Successive Norwegian Governments have built up trillions in sovereign wealth funds, while successive British Governments have built up trillions in national debt.

    Of course she’s feeling out of her depth! If I’d have lied on my cv and said I was a qualified heart surgeon, when really I’d done a summer with the St John ambulance, I’d probably feel a bit out of my depth when I was stood over a patient on the operating table and a nurse passed me a scalpel.     Bit of a stretch from Kamal there. I'm no fan of Liz Truss and have never voted for the Tories but current government borrowing costs are the highest since 2008 so higher than when Liz Truss was at the height of her problems. Also before Labour took office the economy was growing and inflation was falling so the current economic situation is down to the Labour budget.

      @@afiogem Said she was an 'economist' for HBOS but she worked in retail banking. Claimed she was an economist at the Bank Of England for 10 years. It was actually just over 6 years, one year of which was spent studying at LSE.
