Awesome, I'm so happy to see the CB500X getting some love. It was already on my short list based on price and mileage, but the Rally Raid package looks like it will just push this bike over the top. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Simpson ride with this bike on off road trim!
The Honda CB500 X, 2013, is m'y first motorcycle.. and I feel blessed for choosing this one particularly.. She is the best for young drivers, really polyvalent ! 😍
I have ridden the R model and the X. The X is the most comfy bike I have ridden. That 500 mill is so punchy down low and it's got oodles of torque that even experienced riders could have fun with. Great review, loved the wheelie over the little crest.
well i am talking about this x500 so you don t have to spend $3000 to rally raid to make it off road honda could make an africa twin from the same bike or make a 650 the 1000 is too big for my purpose I want a dualsport
I thnk this is a muscular build bike for offroad, hoping that honda will develop the front fender in a high position, and skid plate for the engine, this bike is great for adv,not too much heavier, easy to pickup when you drop in the track.
One of the best videos on the CB500X thanks guys. I wouldn't dare pushing my bike this far but how impressive the machine is under capable hands. Liked and subscribed.
I bought a 2014 version this summer. This is my 5th bike and hands down the best bike I've ever owned. It really surprised me. I never thought a sub 500cc motorcycle could be this much fun!!! The only complaint I have is that it revs quite high on the highway. If you average 100-110kph it's fine, but once you get to 120 or higher, you can feel it struggling a bit.
great review! would love to see you test the Versys 650, very interested to know how off road capable the Versys is considering its Kawa's rival to the Vstrom
Honda has the potential to dethrone the Versys 300, they could make a change to this bike and give it a 19 inch front rim, plus better suspension, but if they don't do anything for 3 more years (which it's most likely the case sin Honda doesn't give a fuck about pleasing costumers with the right thing) probably Kawasaki will upgrade the versys X to the 400cc engine, and Game Over to everyone else under 500cc.
Yep was looking at the versys 300 myself but it just isnt quite enough power for state to state riding. Now I'm looking at the cb500x but it's such a road bike I wonder if I'd be better off with a drz400. When the Ninja 400 came out, first thing i did was check to see if they made the versys a 400 too. That really would be a game changer. To me anything 650 or up is too big for serious offroading
"they could make a change to this bike and give it a 19 inch front rim, plus better suspension". Guess Honda heard you. Look at the 2019 CB500X specs...
@@jeeefthegreat7555 Suppose it all depends what type of riding you'll be doing. Me? I'll be doing no air time so the stock rims 19F & 17R will work fine for the dirt roads where I go target practice at. The suspension's been tweeked a little and the display is better as well. Only add on's is bark busters and sump and exhaust pipe protection. Tires need changing as well. So for me all is well with the 2019. Hope you enjoy your new ride as well. TY for responding back....
Great little vid, I've often wondered why Yamaha don't do a duel sport version of their TDM900, it really is a highly underrated ride with its cracking parallel twin.
***** Not sure about the standard CB500X, but the Rally Raid version which we test next time has an adjustable shock for varying loads. You see it in the last seconds of this video.
I see the new model x has a 19" front wheel since 2019,,much better for ADV riding and tire selection. Do some minor suspension mods for better valving and its light weight it would make a fun machine.
Cool video. I still have to laugh though at what ppl call "adventure" bikes today. I grew up dirt riding, on actual dirt bikes. Hill climbing was my thing. The steepest and roughest hills I could find. No waaaaaay you would ever do such a thing with a bike like this. Much, MUCH too heavy and large!! Inadequate suspension and tires. Easy offroad, okay sure. I actually just bought a '22 500X, but to me, it's going to be purely a street bike, nothing else. I have a WR250R if I want to do any offroad stuff. IMO - ANY motorcycle is an "adventure bike." But to me, the bike that would best fit today's definition of an adventure bike is one that is relatively light (350 lbs or less), with serious offroad capability, but still big and comfortable enough for highway jaunts. Something like a Honda CRF450RL (with a better seat), possibly an XR650L, or in case Yamaha is listening, a larger WR - like a WR450R. My 250R is great for offroad, but not ideal for the highway. I'd want a bigger engine for long highway stints. That's my two cents and that's what "adventure bikes" are in my world. That said, I love my new 500X!!
Are you going to vlog the converted CB? Great honest review. This could be the perfect bike if it can tour at reasonable pace on the road fully loaded but without a pillion. Think I’ll get myself down to the local Honda dealer and find out.
JoeJoe Moto No, I don't see it as that. I see it as a road biased entry level bike. BUT when we get that Rally Raid Products kit on it and get to ride it, I think I may change my views.
Slick production, man! Is Mitch's RR Adventure prototype going down under to film? or is your Au. distributor building one up? Looking forward to part II! Juan- Nevada City, CA.
I have an Honda cb500X of 2017 with a 17" , it's good for some off road? , in this video i see there is a cb500X with a 17" But is good to make off road, any suggestion? Thanks!
+hillclimber65 Not sure about that. Have a look at the test of the Rally Raid Products Honda CB 500 X Adventure. Just click on the link that in this video.
Not for the Hard Core stuff for certain. Perfect (with a couple upgrades) for the Fire roads and less traveled paths. Will get you there wherever there is, albeit at a slower pace...
why cant they just make a decent adventure bike in that 600 - 700 class. The ktm is too expensive and then you need to buy everything to upgrade (and its a ktm). The honda is nice and cheap but you would need to spend a heap of money to make it decent of road. Can crf front suspension be installed? I thinkthe tenere 660 is sitting in the middle of the two but still needs some parts. I love the new Africa Twin :) make that into a 600cc bike.
Where i Live CB 500 is one MF Premium Bike u can find Mate 😁 ... u just gave me a heart attack when u said it a entry level Touring machine hahaha Good one mate
As you can see, if you can bypass the obvious adverts, it's not good for both xD it's a roadbike! Then let's put some offroad tyres to my CBR250 R and it will do as good!
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Same year as mine, new to me bike. I would love to up grade the suspension, have already rode it off road, in sand and some very rough dirt roads. What would I need to do that, please?
amh007dude Well it depends if you want it dirt of road oriented. Yeah dirt, r400, klr650. not the bmw650 at that price. It cost half the bmw. Sorry not add, I ride KTM :)
a serteo new is 11k but you could get one for 10k i expect and less for 2nd hand i had a look on bike sales there isn't a cb500x even listed but other honda are like 8k for a cb500xa (what ever the difference is) i find this bike a odd choice of machine and how much l find your channel/views to be so good!!! this was kinda like taking a HD trail riding for a day it could do it but its not as much fun and kinda not ment for it i ride a bmw and yamaha ... would like a ktm
The Kawasaki Versys are slightly better bikes and the price does reflect it. The 1000 is very comfortable and fast when I test rode it a few months ago. If I had a choice (again) of Versys 650 or CB500X I'd go with the Versys.

Honda Europe just released the new models. Sensational improvements.

Can't wait to see this bike tackle gnarly terrain!
It'll give you just a taste of adventure?
I think you guys showed that it can go way beyond just a level dirt road!
Nice video 👍🏼 After 18 months, i still love my CB500X 2017, but i am dreaming about a brand new CB650X; Honda please create one; Thanks
Nice to see you riding in the area where I live. That outdoor cafe is right near me and its always full of bikers.
That's cool!
Do a review on the new 2019 CB500X. Seems like a good move by Honda.
Great vid. Look forward to the Rally Raid review. Thanks to Giant Loop for their sponsorship. Whoot!
I'm so tempted to get Africa Twin 1000L but then again, i have not been riding for 18 years. I guess imma take CB500x instead
Looking forward to seeing the 2021 model and its off road ability.
Great surprise that Honda... off road wheels and improved suspension ?
