Trey Anastasio appeared on CBS Sunday Morning on February 18th, 2001 Recorded on a crappy VHS deck from the OTA broadcast from Philadelphia CBS Affiliate KYW-TV
Trey just oozes good energy. The way he listens and looks and smiles directly at the kids is such a beautiful thing to see. Thank you Trey for sharing yourself with this world. We are all better for it.
"First Tube" is one of the GRAMMY nominations they mention at the top of this clip (Best Rock Instrumental). Trey wrote it with Russ Lawton & Tony Markellis.
When the narration says “...[sic] they realised this was something special” YES ! What is special is MUSIC with PEOPLE together ! Stuff your autotune and producer driven drek. Sit down and listen to and learn with and from each other ! Long live music and long live Trey ❤️
the intro to my friend my friend is the original intro to guyute and when played orchestrally the dont use the lyrics part of guyute , but they do use the intro to my friend my friend
nylonsteel hey show some respect for the great musicians of our times. Neil is one of the most creative and emotional lead guitarists of all time. Listen to Like a Hurricane, Southern Man, or On the Beach. That man can do things with a guitar that sound like no other guitarist.
Loved this!! It's funny, the few times I've met a couple of the guys, they were the same as the way the girl explained them....very down to earth, normal guys. When I met them, I knew going into the conversation that they would be though.... Fish was especially cool... We talked for a good 45 minutes about drums, and though it was a little nerve racking at first, as soon as we got past, "Hi, I'm Brian....what's up, I'm Jon...good to meet you", all the jitters went away...
but when I explain to ppl my idea for music stardom, i always say like Trey. someone beloved by HIS ppl and who loves them back (used to anyway) but can still go shopping w/o harassment or pics taken, and has the musical freedom to do almost anything at a phish show, with 30,000 people (at an arena) watching Trey's every move while he does that krinkle-nose hunch-back stare when he really gets groovin.
Hey, it's remotely possible! My sister heard them on CBC in Calgary when I was at Dick's during the prairie dog plague a couple of years ago- they did a story on it and played a song.
Wow, ya know I had no idea they were together that long nor that they were nominated for 2 albums. After the or during the Fare Thee Well Tour I have become more informed and impressed with Trey. Oh and I love Phish Food!! The only thing and I know it has nothing to do with music but Ben & Jerry's ice cream co. is very anti firearm and a lot of the money made now goes to that instead of other foundations like the REX! So Along with a lot of other very large concerns I'm off B&J Ice Cream...And that sucks.
He needs to get back to working with an orchestra. The best Phish songs deserve it. Plus it would skyrocket Trey to a whole new level. It would give him the respect he deserves from the snobby music community. But most of all it would give us a bunch of new music to listen to!
Drew Binkley I just stumbled upon this video. That phish footage is kind of a mashup of clips from the movie Bittersweet Motel. The DWD is from. ROCHESTER 97 and the crowd shot with the arms waving is Contact from the Great Went 😊
OK when he comes out at the beginning of the orchestra is he playing his languedoc? because that guitar looks bulkier, more like a jazz box or gretsch...
xadly hes not that big of a star, goi ahead, walk out your front door and ask the first 20 ppl you see who Trey is, or even phish for that matter, but if you ask the right person...!!
Trey's just got such a natural ease and joy that comes across in both his demeanour and writing. A great human and a major musical genius.
Trey just oozes good energy. The way he listens and looks and smiles directly at the kids is such a beautiful thing to see. Thank you Trey for sharing yourself with this world. We are all better for it.
TheGokitchen absolutely agreed
Love that opening clip of Character Zero from Bittersweet Motel. Great choice for an opening clip.
Saw them at Dick's last night and it was a phenomenal performance! Trey is a wonderful human and a musical genius.
You know you've made it when you're allowed to skateboard inside the house. Congrats Trey lol.
I skate in my house and I have not made it 😂. Actually I don’t. I did but don’t know.
"First Tube" is one of the GRAMMY nominations they mention at the top of this clip (Best Rock Instrumental). Trey wrote it with Russ Lawton & Tony Markellis.
I was there, 2nd row, and I swear Trey looked right at me!
What a gem! Grateful to have stumbled upon this! ✨❤️✨
What a beautiful story! Restored my faith in humanity
After watching this I can safely say what I already knew... TREY IS THE MAN! love watching he practice and share ideas with the kids... top notch!
thanks for posting. this was great. never saw this before.
I don’t care what anyone says, this band is phucking awesome
Un grande !!!, que integra una gran banda !

😂 musical side show, 10 seconds later showing a crowd of 75,000 people gather to see one band😂
7:44 Jack Black and Keller Williams walk into a Trey show at the same time.
His socks arent matching at 4:40
but when I explain to ppl my idea for music stardom, i always say like Trey. someone beloved by HIS ppl and who loves them back (used to anyway) but can still go shopping w/o harassment or pics taken, and has the musical freedom to do almost anything at a phish show, with 30,000 people (at an arena) watching Trey's every move while he does that krinkle-nose hunch-back stare when he really gets groovin.
Heard them on the radio 😆
Hey, it's remotely possible! My sister heard them on CBC in Calgary when I was at Dick's during the prairie dog plague a couple of years ago- they did a story on it and played a song.
What's with Trey's socks at 4:34?
They filled a gap....
Dude looked like Patrick Leahy walking into the theatre
Wow, ya know I had no idea they were together that long nor that they were nominated for 2 albums. After the or during the Fare Thee Well Tour I have become more informed and impressed with Trey. The Rescue Squad Quartet has been my favorite part of the Beacon Jams :-)
Can we get a "where are they now?"?
which is the original intro to guyute and in this case is guyute not my friend my friend
I don't think that was Guyute. I think that was My Friend, My Friend.

Drew Binkley I just stumbled upon this video. That phish footage is kind of a mashup of clips from the movie Bittersweet Motel. The DWD is from. ROCHESTER 97 and the crowd shot with the arms waving is Contact from the Great Went 😊
