The manual describes the Serial Ports as 1 & 2. The Serial Port DB-25 for connecting to your computer. The DB-9 serial port is for connecting the Radio.
Great video! I have a KPC3+ I have only ever really used for WinLink. But I’d like to setup a personal BBS mailbox on it as we have some VHF BBS activity in our area. Thanks again for sharing!!
The additional memoand battery ry lets the bbs to handle more users and more messages. The real time clock prevents the need from resetting the date and time with every restart. All the upgrades together allow the KPC 3++ to run stand alone with just a radio and no computer required.
It can get a little confusing at times setting these tnc's up. The Tarpn Nino looks like a fun kit. I may have to get one for myself. Thank you for the comment.

@k6kwi Thank you for the comment. At some point when my tower is up, I'm going to get this thing in the air 24/7 as a pbbs.

@seanedwards569 Thanks for the comment and the info. I haven't gotten the clock upgrade yet, but it's on my list.
I went for the Tarpn Nino Tnc. I have no idea what im going into. I never used old school ax.25 packet, besides a wx3in1 1k2 APRS.

A woodworker and a ham radio operator?!?! Is there anything you don’t do?
