29:38 all the hooks are highlighted red through walls when holding a survivor similar to the generators. It was quite funny seeing you walk past 3 hooks before saying you can't find any 😂.
42:37 the killer just left, lol. Also the bloodweb is your "character upgrade" thing. You get bloodpoints by just playing the game, at the end of every match. In the bloodweb you can buy and upgrade various things like items, addons and perks which you can then equip in the loadout section. Selecting perks, addons and items is always better than not equiping anything at all, so you better spend those bloodpoints on characters you want to play to make your life easier.
I do recommend watching mint skull's all killers explained video to understand what each killer does, the channel Not otzdarva also has videos explaining all survivor and killer perk which are separate from the character themselves
as a survivor, there's a setting in the accessibility tab that allows you to see your heartbeat (indicates how close the killer is), really useful for newer players who have trouble with that
I recommend turning on the visual heartbeat in the settings to make it easier for you to know how close the killer is because some terror radiuses are pretty hard to recognize for new players
I still remember my first time playing this game, one of my friends at the time got me to download it and threw me into a match without telling me what it was, I saw the killer and went "oh hey, is that a bear trap?" And it was indeed a bear trap. I spent like 5 minutes sprinting away from him screaming "what do I do?" 😂😂 good video
I know I commented earlier, but I only finished the video now, and thought I’d offer some tips if you want them (3.5k hours) General tips: 1. There’s a LOT information being thrown at you right at the gate, and most of it through reading. If you really see yourself investing a lot of hours in this game then you better buckle up. Each character has their own 3 unique perks, and there’s general perks too for both sides. Each killer’s power has lot of differences that intricacies that might confuse you if you don’t read them too. After that there’s the descriptions for items, offerings, and add-ons. (-Not to mention the background and lore of the game itself and the characters, if you’re interested in those-) 2. A good headset is what I highly recommend for playing both sides 3. You can equip perks in the middle tab. Right now since you’re starting only the character’s personal perks are available to them, but you’ll be able to level them up and get more over time. Get ready to grind. Survivor tips: 1. Move your camera around, while doing anything. You never know if the killer is gonna be creeping up soon without you noticing. You can even look behind you in chase to see what the killer is doing, because a lot of time the killer can react to what you’re doing (like dropping a pallet, so they walk around), so in turn you can react to what they’re doing (delay dropping the pallet). 2. Also related to the above tip, a lot of killers specialize in stealth, so you won’t be able to hear the music that gets louder and louder when they approach (called a terror radius). So looking around will help with not being caught off guard. Also the headphones thing, you can still hear them a lot of times (like their clothes fluttering) 3. When you’re on hook (or downed on the ground) you can also look around! Which means while you’re waiting for rescue you can take note of your teammates’ locations, or even see if any of them are being chased by the killer (also look at your teammates’ icons on the hud at the left side, it’ll tell you what they’re doing even if you don’t know where they are exactly) 4. When the fifth gen is finished repairing, the location of the exit gates is revealed to you. Try to take note of them since they only stay for a few seconds. Killer tips: 1. The Clown isn’t really that newbie friendly of a killer. I recommend Wraith or Trapper, quite easy to get the hang of . 2. You can track the survivors by noise (again going back to the headphones) if the scratch marks confuse you. 3. Both generators and hooks are highlighted in red to you. However you can only see the hooks while carrying a survivor, so don’t get confused. There’s almost always a hook nearby, so you can move your camera around to check for hooks close to your position even while carrying survivor. 4. The hooks that you saw highlighted that seemed to be under the floor are the basement hooks (you see the entrance to the basement in front of you when you downed the Lara at 58:22). The basement can be a good advantage for you, because it takes longer for the survivors to go in to rescue while there’s only one exit. The basement spawns in one of two places on most maps, either the main building (which would be the largest structure on the map), or the killer shack (a smaller structure that’s guaranteed to spawn on most maps, it has a window and 2 doorways) That should be good for basic tips. Any other info you can learn by playing the game. Just remember to have fun!
There's a reason even seasoned dead by daylight players call this the least friendly game for new players. It's really an abundance of information in the beginning with all the killer powers, perks, items and mechanics. It's a really great game once you get into it though, with many players sinking well over thousands of hours into it because of this depth.
ikr, Im kinda shocked i got into it, considering 2021 had so much info. It seems to get harder the later you get into it. I mainly focused on mastering just 1 thing to not be overwhelmed, and when feeling comfortable just expanding It was a ballsy move to play Trickster and only him for 200 hours when buying the game xD Mostly iri bought killers to feed Trickster perks I also lucked out that Trickster had great perks for a beginner
"aim where they're going, not where they are" -Soldier 76. Also, there are seven generators on every map. If you down someone and don't know where the next hook is, you should spin around immediately to find hooks when you pick someone up, they'll be in red like the generators, except for ones in your line of sight.
The tool tip does tell you which killer you're facing, but only for the first three times you face them. So, you got Chucky once, it'll tell you two more times. All other killers you can run into will still have 3. If any of those players who were against your Clown were new, they'd get the one telling them it's Clown. As of this moment, there are 37 killers. It could be months or longer, even with constant survivor games before you got through all 111 warnings due to some killers being more popular to play than others. The characters don't automatically have those perks equipped. That's what the loadout is for. Same for the add ons that you were purchasing in the blood web. Anything in the blood web is not 'pay to win' because anyone can get those. Blood points are plentiful now a days. What can be considered 'paid to win' though is buying any character that isn't in the base game, since one that character is leveled, their perks are available for any other character to use. It's actually good to go in without perks to know what you're character is capable at base, especially killers. You can go into custom games to practice killers you own.
I’d recommend playing as survivor first just so you can get familiar with the mechanics of the game and get familiar with the maps (where the hooks are lol) and seeing the different killer abilities. The killers are a bit more challenging to master
Killer easier to learn but harder to master. Even if more killer players have mastered the role than survivors, the game isn’t killer sided but most survivors are really bad compared to how good they could be, if everyone played to their maximum potential survivors would be overpowered.
Don't feel bad if you miss skillchecks, they come when you least expect it. Even hardcore survivors miss them. Me, it's usually if i want to scratch my nose or let go of the gen. I love it that the survivor bots in the tutorial are already toxic. They kept teabagging you. 😂 And the tutorial doesn't even explain what totems are. There are 5 throughout the maps. They're in the shape of a skull on top of a few bones, usually hidden. You can undo them, mostly for extra points, but if they are lit, you really should undo them because it means the killer is using a totem perk to his advantage. And there are a ton of totem-related perks.
Oh boy, why have you done this to yourself?! Run away before this game consumes you! In all seriousness though, this game takes a while to get the feel of. People with 600 hours are still considered new to the game, and there’s a lot of micro gameplay that takes time to understand fully. So if you’re really interested in DBD, just take your time and play how you want. Watch the videos of dbd content creators to see some insight if you really want to. But enjoy yourself most of all.
@@SolitarySaturn Yes, because there are a lot of chapters, they had to sweeten the deal for new players. Me, I have been buying them one by one as they came out.
As someone with over 8,000 hrs in this game please avoid it for now lol, its in a miserable state especially for beginners, devs are kinda delusional and the steep learning curve is not worth the payoff. Stick with overwatch its still a lot more consistent and less toxic
When they see me as survivor they just disconnect... ;)
@@SolitarySaturn In this game, they disconnect for everything. I had a survivor DC just because I turned on my chainsaw, right at the beginning. 😆
29:38 all the hooks are highlighted red through walls when holding a survivor similar to the generators. It was quite funny seeing you walk past 3 hooks before saying you can't find any 😂.
Those hooks were invisible I swear! lol!
@@SolitarySaturn Dw I had the same problem lol
That and trying to hit finished generators

Its really fun seeing someone learn the game from basics, I hope you will like dbd enough to keep playing it and learning :)

What a good gameplay, so much fun!!😂
For the survival round, yes the killer left. This is also indicated if you look at their status at the end screen (that the plugs are seperated)

This game looks fun i have to try it out❤
You, trying it now= Fun
You, playing it in about 1year = Love/hate relationship.

@VBSuper :)
I recommend look at what the killer power does in the lobby screen
You should react to all the memento moris (they are the executions of each killers)

The clown, not the easiest killer to play first.
guys im new at the game can someone explain to me how he already got clown, doctor, spirit and pyramid head unlocked?
He probably bought them at the store. Every chapter is available for purchase.
He said he bought the Silent Hill version, which includes all of those.
I bought the silent hill version on steam it was on sale for the same price as the base game.
