    I am a late Lego bloomer (50+) and I like the build process rather than playing with them, when its finished I lose interest and it goes on the shelf. For this reason I think the gearboxes and engines are excellent value and it doesnt matter if they are unseen, I had my fun putting them together and making sure they worked.

      I'm in my 30s but have been playing with lego since I was a baby and I'm the same. I used to love playing with it when I was a kid but I guess life has crushed my imagination; nevertheless I still love building technic sets and seeing the finished product

    I purchased and built the CaDa SuperCar and am very glad I did. This car has the complexity and intricate design quite comparable to Lego sets but at a much lower price. I believe the parts quality is on par to Lego as I have no complaints about that. The set is boxed into several numbered boxes and many numbered parts bags. The build instructions are simple and clear. I have also built the Lego Bugatti and Lamborgini sets and the CaDa set is equal to them in every aspect. I highly recommend this set to anyone that likes Lego technic cars but is looking to save some money.

      The Creator Expert cars are built in a similar way; however while todays lineups both for Technic and Creator are focusing on licenced large scale passenger cars, Model Team were (mostly) trucks.

    • @DanRelayer_Ukraine
      @DanRelayer_Ukraine 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      to be fair, model team lives on, albeit in various series. I would say that Concorde qualifies 100% as a Model Team set. Or the big Double Decker from several years ago. Or the current Vespa. But yeah, would be cool to see a big licensed set so that we would have a car with actual glass in the windows. Or the green Defender.

    I've always had mixed feelings about these things... on one hand, the mechanics are impressive, but on the other - completely pointless. I much prefer complex mechanical builds that actually look good AND function, like the complex internals in the 42052 Heavy Lift Helicopter which enable four different functions using a single M motor. I don't even know about using the cars as parts donors, except for the rare stuff like the wheels, because there are so many underloved but large sets that can be bought used for much, much less.

  • @msclrhd
    @msclrhd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I like having the complex gearbox and other functions, as they add interesting elements during the build. They also add a variety of parts for use in MOCs.

    I bought the Porsche three years ago when it was on special offer as a Christmas present to myself and enjoyed every minute of the build. As other people have commented, even if the gear box is hidden and inaccurate, actually building it and getting it to work smoothly was a huge part of the enjoyment. I make scale models as well, but it's the Porsche that attracts the most interest from anyone seeing it.

      I have all 4 of the Technic sets and the Porsche is by far my favorite even though it is the "least polished". I feel like it is a more artistic rendering of the real car than the 3 later sets--a good blend of realistic body work, implied lines, and technic toy. That being said, the new Ferrari SP3 kit stepped up the game on the bodywork and closing the gaps, although it was my least favorite of the four supercars to build.

    I built the CadA supercar without any problems, so I would like Lego to stop using blue pins and yellow axles everywhere. On my Lego 1:8 supercar builds, I replaced all of the weird colors with black or grey (and also built the pimp-my-xxx version from rebrickable). These are 18+ sets, right? No need to have color everywhere. I do agree on the gearboxes. I would rather see gear-actuated doors and bonnets than a gearbox. But the gearbox is still nice to build.

    • @RacingBrick
      @RacingBrick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are not 18+ sets because of their "super expert" level, their target audience are casual adult LEGO builders. As I mentioned in the video I had the CaDA build tested with "average" builders and it was really annoying for them to build with the all black pins and interior. LEGO has a much wider target audience than CaDA, having color coding really helps a lot of people.

    • @5ch4cht3l7
      @5ch4cht3l7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RacingBrick It might help some people but neither you and I know if it is actually a significiant portion of the buyers. Some people also like more challenging builds in order to get a better result (same color). Also there are other ways to make it easier to build like making the old parts a lighter shade of the real color.

    • @RacingBrick
      @RacingBrick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@5ch4cht3l7 you are right I don't have an exact number, but based on my experience with thousands of messages and comments from the past few years, I would say that what you consider as an "experienced builder" is around 10% of the customers or even less. Remember, this is still a toy for kids, and the 18+ category is still a marketing category and not related to complexity or builder skills.
      Color coding is a core part of the balanced building experience of LEGO, and it's not only about the building instructions, it's mainly about finding the proper part during building. Shading the previous steps is an interesting attempt, but can be also misleading as you cannot easily identify the parts you've already built since the colors don't match.

    • @taker00
      @taker00 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RacingBrick It might help a lot of people but also looks bad. Using blue pins on the green Sian is pretty difficult to justify, as blue and green is one of the worst color combination to look at and finding black pins instead of blue ones shouldn't be that challenging to anyone.

    I honestly like that they have functions and gearboxes. There are certain mechanisms, like shifting gears from the front dash, that wouldn't really be possible at smaller scales (I know the older supercar set had a literal gearstick, but Lego clearly doesn't want to do that again). It just sucks that of all these supercars, the gearboxes all suck. I would personally prefer if Lego made these larger Supercar sets more hollow if they wanted to sell them as display models, this would also justify more system pieces being allocated to filling out the body and shape of the car. The functionality can instead be implemented in more cruder and cheaper Technic sets, which I prefer because 90% of the time I just want more functionality anyway.

    The Chiron's suspension is easily fixed by filing away the friction tabs on the center of the blue 3L connectors used for the pivot points. Mine has zero of the issues you mentioned. Overtime electric hypercars will solve the complex gearbox and visible engine problem :X
    Some MOCs implement actuators for doors, but then you open a manual flap to open an actuator controlled flap..... :D Maybe some expensive things like dampers+pneumatics would fit the models of expensive hypercars the best. Smooth doors, maybe smooth seat movement.... ^^
    But srsly: If Lego wants to bring new things, like they currently do a lot, 1:8 electric car with spinning coils and dampers etc. would be great I think.
    And if it's a Liebherr hypercar I would consider buying it :X

    I like CaDa "Lego" sets, special "Creator Expert" sets, better like Lego version, good mix between Creator and Technic + optional easy RC version(without custom rebuild, like Lego sets). I like CaDa sets, because CaDa create their sets, like copy other sets, MOCs, example Initial D sets(Licensed) or buy set from original designer, example nice red Porsche(unlicensed). I think the gearbox taking so much space and sitting on the shelf at the end of the day doesn't make sense. It would be cool if Lego made an actual dedicated gearbox set to minify the footprint of gearbox and make it more like real life car gearbox. And then we could think about making those cars into RC cars with RC kits and instructions from Lego for it.
    Otherwise it's like you said, better to focus on manual functions that can be played with when the model is in place/static. This brings to mind every aircraft model that obviously won't fly, so it's all static play.

    Regarding the CaDa "Italian Sportscar". Yes, the building experience is more challenging as with Lego-Sets which uses quadillions of different colors, but it is quiet doable. It would be ok to do some color coding with a small color selection, like black, dark bluish grey and light bluish grey. But it hurts my eyes to look into the Legosets which look lie a shredded parrot with 12 colors on 10 parts. So i would prefer the building experience from the CaDa "Italian Sportscar" above the Lego "Lamborghini Sian".

      You can hear my experience with CaDA quality in my review video, linked from the blog post. You can also see other CaDA set review on that channel.
      I don't have much experience with other brands, but I definitely wouldn't support manufacturers who are stealing LEGO set designs or who are using MOC designs without authorization. Whatever you see online, it is worth to do a research if it is a clone of a LEGO set or take a look at rebrickable.com if that design exists there. If the name of the MOC designer is not proudly presented on the box then there's a high chance it was stolen.

    I'm torn on these. I like the concept, but the execution of making really cool internals and then covering them up has turned me off from buying any of them. I also think if I'm going to spend the money on a set like this, it would need to be close to my dream car...say a Countach, an F40 or a McLaren F1. So I think it's more rewarding to buy an entire annual Speed Champion lineup than one of these.

      There is an MOC which uses almost all the pieces of the latest 1:8 model, the Ferrari Daytona, but turns it into the F40 instead. The stock wheels are kind of incongruent, but the the F40 MOC looks stunning. The same guy also turned the Cian into the Miura concept, and that looks dope as hell too.

    I can't help but think that the next 1:8 will come from McLaren - my money is on it being the Artura. The writing's on the wall with the delayed 1:8 release and the recent release of the Lego McLaren F1 car. I can't see any other supercar being worthy of release. Any thoughts on that?

    Why do people insist on visible pistons??? It is much better if the car is realistic in every aspect. I don't mind hidden pistons. It would be much better if they put power functions as a default so the car could drive.

    I have all of these but the white one. Of the LEGO ones I like the Porsche best, I don’t really know why. The “Italian super car” is awesome. 3 speed transmission and is radio control. But the parts quality is not very good. Parts fall off just looking at it. LEGO needs to motorize the big cars, they don’t need to drive, but it’s be nice if you could actually see the engine and gearbox work. But I got the CaDA car for free….

    • @zonoskar
      @zonoskar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The McLaren car is going to be an empty shell with suspension and a diff for the rear. It's nowhere as complicated as the Sian. It will probably also not be as satisfying to build. And the Sian has tons of MOCs on rebrickable, we'll have to see about that for the McLaren set. I'm getting one anyways.
