I'm a Canadian from Vancouver, but this song brings back such great memories from the summer of 88-89 when I worked and lived in Australia. A few years later, I had it played at my wedding back home up north in Cranbrook BC. Everyone said..."Love that! Who is it?" Great song, great band.
greg you speak a truth that brings back so many memories and creates a bond between us because we are 1. 1927 fans and 2. canadians and Australians that resonate with a natural connection that’s obvious from the experiences of so many of us Australians overseas and plain from the words you write.
When I was a teenager and lived on a farm in outback Australia, I had a crush on a boy named Andy. The singer in 1927 reminds me of him. I imagine he's singing to me personally. Now I'm in my early 60's and I still feel like I'm that teenager each time I hear their songs.
G'day Greg hello from Australia 🇦🇺 yes mate this is 1 of my favourite songs and a bloody hell of a good band.....I sea my baby she's a master piece of art she's my main squeeze we dance fast then slow I say nice ass we're in a dream cool as can be the master show yeah she's first class she makes my mind blast it blows. 🇦🇺🇨🇦

Sorry to hear of your loss. My father died from liver cancer in 2014 so I can relate. However, it's nice that your family chose such a beautiful, meaningful song as part of his sendoff - really great choice. :)
Erized Thank you for your message. I'm sorry for your loss.Cancer is so quick and mean. It makes you realise your mortality. I hope you and your family are doing okay after your Dads death. 🌹
NorthernUnion13 Thank you for your message. You must be a very nice person to send those thoughts to a person you haven’t met before on the internet. That is as sweet as it can get really 😊. It does get a bit easier for me. For my Mum who is still around and may live for another 20 or 30 years it’s a lot harder. Life stops though hey.
I love Australia ,I spend there 10 years ,have ,great memories 80 -90 year .I'm 68 now and feel like my time past . That time I came back to Poland where I was born but I have Australia and Bondi Beach in my heart love this music ! memories coming back , Australia ! love ya for all thinks a can remember ! Marcel
It was the evening of 16 Feb 1996. I was playing this on cassette in my parent's 1990 VN Commodore. I was driving this lovely girl home from a social outing we had with mutual friends. It was with this song playing when I asked her out. We have been married 27 years :)
1927 the quintessential iconic Australian rock group. Of all their greatest hits this was their signature song. One of the greatest love songs of all time. Brings back so many great memories of my childhood. The 80s the best era to grow up as a kid in Australia.
My Nana passed away today, 97 years of age , makes her born in 1927, so that immediately prompted me to listen to this amazing song !!!! 🎵 my mind asking if she is ok.... then a nana gets up and starts dancing in the video clip of this beautiful song ❤️ that's my sign , she is happy and will be dancing in heaven xxx
I immigrated to Australia in 90 at age 34....fell in love with their music (lived in Melbourne). This was one of my favorite bands. Never realized how much great music from Ozzie never gets to USA....this is such a beautiful song.
The US think us Aussie's are all backward yobbo bogans that live in grass huts, with no technology or electricity. This is our own music genre, Aussie Pub Rock & all our bands were so underated & never given a chance. Look at Cold Chisel... That's why they wrote the song You Got Nothing I Want & was aimed at America lol

That being said although not culturally authentic persay,Oub Rock wad h8gyly distinct and unique in how ot mixed and oricwssed these ideas. I can always tell that I'm listening to Australian Crawl and not Ultravox,Ijahman Levvy,or Lynyrd Skynyrd. I guess the same is true for some Canadian Media. Still my favourite song after first hearing it as a 16-year old in 1988. That's more than 30 years. Great songs never get old and stay with you like a warm embrace whenever you need it.
I'm Indonesian living in Canberra. Watched Noiseworks, The Script, Conrad Sewell, RHCP etc. Heard this song coincidentally on 106.3fm....LOVE IT!!! Bought their ticket for May 23 concert in Queanbeyan.....see you there guys...cheers
Had a memory of my dad coming home (in 1988) and showing me this Album he just bought. And then we listened to the whole Album...I miss you my dad (RIP)

The song is one of the best songs of the 80s, what I never understood is the meaning of the video, what is the message if there is one...saludos desde el sur del mundo 🇺🇾
Oohh boy did I have a giant 80s-sized teenage crush on the lead singer of 1927. Absolutely loved this band. So fortunate I was able to see them perform live at the Royal Easter Show one year....SWOOOON.
Grown up in Australia listening to this good music in 1988 my cousin she passed away she loves this song for ever I'm an central Australian an I love this song for ever ♥️♥️🇦🇺♥️💛🖤
I grew up in a small beach side town in Northern New South Wales, Australia. How did I miss this great group in the 1980s? I may be in the States but I knew all of 'Ice House', and his many albums by heart. The one treat is finding them now and its all new to me. I get to find a great band with great songs from the 80's and its all new music to me. 1927 Wow.
Watching this video makes me time travel to simpler times where a lot of our grand parents were growing up in country Australia. Everyone knew one another; weekends were times for spending with family and neighbours; mothers raised children and sowed their own dresses while fathers worked hard, grew vegetables and raised chooks. Holidays like Christmas and Easter weren't commercial back then and had an extra layer of magic and respect. Ballroom dances with actual bands were common then too. It is here that some of our grand parents, then teenagers, might've awkwardly eyed one another in a different sense for the first time.
I first listened to this song when I was studying in Adelaide back in 2017. Fell in love instantly when it came on Cruise 1323. Now everytime I listen to this, it just takes me back to Adelaide and Australia in general. So many fond memories of that place 🥰
No clue how I found this amazing band here from Brazil, but I can't stop loving listening to them. I've always loved this song. It always brings a tear to my eyes.
Australia really gave the world some of the most wonderful and soul stirring music. Men at work, Midnight oil, Split Enz, Crowded house(tho from New Zealand),1927 etc... And this song is pure poetry.
hey scarleg - so is this ....i think my bands new song is JUST as good - i am the guitar player -plz give a thumbs up if you like it th-cam.com/video/SAXCthbzLBI/w-d-xo.html
After 31 years I still love this song and video. It just hits me to the core. If you haven't experience loving somebody like this then you haven't live your life yet.
I had a huge giggle to find you on here and then put that song on and lost the plot. . Blubbering like an idiot. . Scotty you are (despite all your fucked up ways! ) beautiful. ..
I am from Malaysia..be into 80's music since age 8 listening music from UK top ten /Top of the pops from echo & the Bunny man, Tracy lemon,Heaven 17 so many many more BUT...going to my cousins place in Down Under...WOW.....aussie bands are GREAT!!!!.....Cherished memories...1927...iCE house..INXS....Crowded she...Noiseworks...GREAt Country great music
I just cried. Please bring back the 80's. I'd do anything to get in a time machine and go back to never return to this absolute mess.
I often feel exactly the same way. Just give thanks that we lived in the 80s.
Oh boy, haven’t seen this before 😮
Take me there too please!!!😢
Same! 👍
I can't agree more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We mourn like mourning death

This is such a powerful song, so many beautiful words. Can't believe its 34 years old. Missing the 80's.
So true 💪☝️
Australia really gave the world some of the most wonderful and soul stirring music. Men at work, Midnight oil, Split Enz, Crowded house(tho from New Zealand),1927 etc... And this song is pure poetry.
I loved how any song by 1927 was so heartfelt & uniquely Australian just music straight from the heart ❤
