- as the weather warms up, everyone is out for kings on the harbour, not this guy...
I thought it would be a good idea to head out for sunrise and catch my dream Flathead on the other hand.on my first cast i lost my large belligerent lure and basically didn't have a good back up plan.
the sounder was telling me there was bait, so I decided to move onto yakka collection... which did not go to plan catching the highly desired kingfish!
it was a great test for my knotts and 8lb set up, showing great quality of the shimano stradic's drag and the daiwa rebellion rod.
this is the jig i mentioned that got the king!
Click&Buy:s.click.aliexp...
they are awesome value and the hooks are good for up to 20lb by my testing (so far)
the setups used,
light gear
Shimano Stradic 2500 fl
Daiwa Rebellion 742 MLFS 2-5kg
Berkley x8 braid 8lb
Daiwa Jthread FC - 10lb
medium gear
Penn Slammer 3 3500
Shimano Anthem 762 - 40g max cast
15lb platypus 9 carrier braid
Daiwa Jthread FC - 30lb
Nice spots. Lovely.
temu lure doing the job
Hey mate. I have been trying to locate the landbased spot where the guy you throw the lure fishing. Whereabouts is it?
Love that spot, good to see the baitfish are still there. Mate you're a champ for handing that guy the metal.
2 wks ago. I got a salmon and 3 kingies around 55cm each. Same setup as you. So much fun.
Keep up the good vids and hope to see out on the water sometime 👍
thanks Phalanx. not too hard to let them go when you find a spot to get them cheaply! ill keep at it. the harbour seems to get more interesting as you spend more time on it!!
one interesting thing, Ive never had luck there land based
Where’s the spot
@@cballzoutdoorsI've not had any luck land fishing there either. I've tried a couple of times. Have you had any luck at those stairs in between the two beaches?
@harrybanner2876 I have! I've actually landed a nice king in that area. One issue land based is that the there are innumerable snags and drop off's so you kindof have to pick your spot carefully
Like the new logo!
thanks! it's only appropriation of others work! font iss REEY and i copied colours for cyber punk video game :P
looking good hope to get out this weekend .
it's surely firing! summer and warm water is here
Well done on that😁, it's amazing what hits the lines sometimes
Thanks Dave :)
Hey what sounder or fish finder do u have and can u put it on a tinny
I have a Garmin striker 4, its the cheapest one you can get with a map and they come with a kit to attach to the bottom of the motor for tinnies/motor boats and you could probably get away with a cheap lead acid battery vs a waterproof lithium Ion
been here yesterday mate, after i saw your previous video. Also tried my new fish finder. Amazing spot, not a single bite but, maybe the wind and the time was not good.
I think the bite dies with the rising of the sun. I literally think after 7am it turns into a wasteland. Hope the fish finder went well, i just started trying to use mine more effectively and i am getting results. especially on the mapping feature on my striker 4
Where exactly was that? I’m going kayaking this Sunday looking for my first king and would love to have some advice
Was that at the bottom of Willis road? I’ve been there on land in the afternoon and got nothing. Is the morning better?
I am no expert on chasing down kings, this exact spot is here and I would say rat kings are a 1 in 50 chance there - goo.gl/maps/L5bZ5hwSDhSGEfgt8 youll likely be able to see some in the shallows but getting them to bit is hard.
I would go and catch live squid and try to troll for them slowly... but I cant really catch squid consistently so am yet to try it
@@cballzoutdoors thanks for the advice. I’ll check it out and see if it works. Good luck on your adventures and I can’t wait till the next vid!
@@declancarroll668 I'll hopefully out on the Yak more soon! the wind has been a killer for un-powered boaters the past month or so!
how the hell you launch there? you carry your yak all the way down the track all at once?
well.. i have a trolley that gets you to the stairs but I got really annoyed because it tipped so i carried it the last 20m to avoid frigging around with the stairs. I have been with a friend and the last carry bit is easy with two people
The most original fishing content on TH-cam. I mean, who else has home-made plastic vibes made out of a milk bottle that catch fish. You really are getting into a grove and I really hope you keep going with it. Also love the humour in the post-production commentary. "The birds are not as annoying if you think of them as a cheer squad" is going to make me laugh for years to come every time I hear the birds - pure gold
thanks heaps, I really love fishing and fiddling around with images and editing + I have no real agenda so I am sure ill keep making vids as long as I have recreation time with work and sport! the bird thing actually makes seagull harassment less annoying 👍
