When I reluctantly paid $2k for my Hobie Revolution I had grand plans to go offshopre and catch monsters every weekend, little did I realise I would need to wait months for weather windows with acceptable wind and swell.
In summer of 2025 I found a great weather window and decided to go for it! Head to the FAD and get onto some real sport fish!
Heading 8ks offshore is no small feat and with equipment failure way offshore I was exceptionally worried I wouldnt make it back!

Safety procedure
-Weather conditions need to have sub 2m swell and wind needs to be low or blowing inshore.
-I have the NSW maritime App and put the details of the trip in that
-I tell my partner where I am going and when I will check in next (you have phone signal 4k offshore)
attached to my life jacket:
-I take a 2/5w radio that could be used to call boats for help nearby.
-I have a GME PLB
-Waterproof torch to wave at the helicopter when the rescue me
Basically if I need rescuing I want it to be easy for someone to find me, and no one to say "I cant believe that fool went out in those conditions"
