  • @briannaford9980

    When Niomi said she wants to make a quick dinner, then said it will probably take twenty minutes, then the next clip had all her from scratch food prep items, I was like WOW.
    You know what my quick meal is? It's hot pockets. If I'm feeling fancy, it'll be pizza rolls.
    Moral of the story, Niomi can freakin' cook.

    I actually think you should keep making these videos once a week! I know that everybody has different interests, and may not like these videos, but then they do not have to watch it. F.ex I don't watch your fashion videos because I am not really interested in that... It's just a thought that I wanted to share. I don't know what your main themes are on this channel, but I really think you should incoperate more food- you say you enjoy filming them too :D Also I have noticed that these kind of videos get just as many views as many of your other themed videos, so please make more of these :)

    • @andrinevedvik2807
      @andrinevedvik2807 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Andrine Vedvik And by the way, I don't think you are forcing this upon anyone! If people are interested in these videos, they watch it, and get inspired, and people who are not interested, do not watch it- that's how simple it is. I don't know if you see it this way, but when you f.ex are making lookbooks or simular videos, I think you have a bigger impact and "force" when it comes to the brand and style you wear. That's just my opinion though :D

  • @alexandradecember
    @alexandradecember 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Niomi! These videos are so so helpful. I work at a burger restaurant and I have such a tragic sleeping schedule, I literally drink no water and I don't work out at all. I eat nothing but trash all day because I support myself financially. And I used to eat so well. I've been feeling awful, and sluggish and tired and just exhausted all the time, even experiencing pain in my chest and my bones are just tighter? I normally don't watch any food videos just because they're typically really boring or they don't really teach me anything. (I have no idea how to cook.) But I LOVE that you talk us through the whole time what you're putting in and how much. I don't know, I decided to watch these videos tonight and I just decided that I'm going to start a plant-based diet as well because these just look so delicious. And really, I've just been looking for videos or proper instructions on how to even cook these meals. And because I work full-time, I love that a lot of these meals are cold so I could even take them with me to work and keep them in the fridge for my break. Props to you!! Great demonstrations of a healthy diet

    You have to boil the artichocke in salted water for about 45 minutes. After that you can first bite of the flesh from leaves and after that eat the heart and the bottom of the artichoke. They are delicious with a mayonaise dip :D

    You can eat the softer bits at the end of the leaves closest to the base. They taste quite nice dipped into a little bit of melted soya margarine (pure etc) but not the healthiest that way but can be eaten plain as well :) and with other dips. My family always have artichokes in the summer and that's how we eat them.

  • @aubreyaleah
    @aubreyaleah 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love artichokes! They do take patience since they can take a little bit of time to cook. I usually trim the leaves if they are pokey, then place in a pot of boiling water for about 45 mins depending on size. I will pull off a leave to test, if they are tender then it is done... Sometimes I will grill them after this step. Just cut the artichoke in half lengthwise, scoop out the "hairs" with the spoon, brush with olive oil, salt, pepper, and place on grill for about 10 mins. I love to dip the leaves in lemon juice or a lemon butter sauce, but I know there are other delicious dipping sauce recipes online. I saw that a few other people left good directions as well. My mom usually made artichokes for me as a kid, so I had to google directions the first few times I cooked them by myself. :) Also the avocado toast looked summery and delicious. I will have to try it. Thank you for the video!

    Artichokes are so good if you know how to cook them! Boil it in water and vinegar for 10 to 15 mins depending on the size. Take off the outer leaves as they are tough. Use your teeth to take the flesh off the leaves (don't eat them!) and then eat the heart! It's great to have with hummus or another dip (home made aioli is great for a treat!)! Dip the leaves in the hummus and then suck off the flesh and the dip! So good!

    I just don't understand how u can be so healthy! It's such an inspiration - I'm trying to make myself eat healthier to try and eat more things without being fussy and this has really helped me and motivated me! Thank you Niomi! I love you! I once did a healthy pasta chicken salad on my channel but I deleted it - it's delicious and I'm loving stir fry at the moment xx

Every time I eat breakfast I either pass out later in the day or be physically sick... I've tried this banana coffee and I was scared I would feel sick... Turns out, it made me not feel sick and gave me more energy than the few years I've never had breakfast.... I keep having it... Even though it has coffee in it, and I'm 12... I still drink it

    For the leaves of the artichoke, you can eat the very tip of it (the non-prickly bit) with a nice dipping sauce. I usually make one with mustard, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper.

    I LOVE these videos!! And no need to feel bad or guilty or preachy, this is literally just what you ate for the day! No crime there! If that feels like "forcing the lifestyle" to others, that's not something that you can help them with anyway. I'd love to see them weekly but of course it's your channel so do as you please. Either way, I will look forward to these "what i ate" videos! =)

    Niomi, have you ever thought about trying the living below the line / £5 for 5 days 'challenge' (i know its wrong to call it a challenge as it's unfortunately a way of life for some but i don't know what else to call it)? Emma Blackery recently did it and i thought her video was so inspiring, so it would be amazing if you considered it and we can see if one can maintain a healthy lifestyle food-wise while living on such a small budget. You don't have to obviously as its quite a sensitive topic but just thought i'd suggest it :) loved the video as always, have a great day

    Dear Niomi! You seem like such a genuine and lovely person, I can't believe you feel the need to make a disclaimer and apologize beforehand on these videos. As you said, you love and enjoy to make these videos and just want to inspire people. That doesn't mean that you force others to eat this way, that's just people's own twisted perception.
    Dear Niomi! You should do whatever you want to, because you can't make everybody happy. But since you care so much about other people's opinions, then maybe you can make a new channel only food related? And post once a week like you mentioned. Sincerely, your new fan

    For the artichoke the way my mom cooks it is putting it in a pot with a couple inches of water and putting a lid on it and steaming it for like 40 minutes to an hour. Then the heart is the best part, but for the leaves the fatter bits at the bottom are really yummy as well. We also put some butter on it.

    • @saramgeorge
      @saramgeorge 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mafaz Abdul Karim tbh, if you eliminate the quinoa and the B12 supplement she used, most of the other ingredients Niomi used for her daily meals were quite simple and cheap stuff cuz they were mostly just vegetables. Plus, vegetables are not only usually cheap but also in HUGE variety, so u also dont necessarily have to use the veggies she used if those are the types that are hard to get/arent as cheap in the area where you live. Going on plant based diets only gets expensive once u add the supplements that you would chose to buy, and if you decide to go out of your way to get different and supposedly "better" veggies that you've never even seen in your local market. But being healthy doesn't mean that. Just use veggies that you can get and most importantly that you actually like :). Also, being healthy doesnt necessarily mean going total veggie either. It just means buying and eating less fatty or low-cholesterol foods. But more importantly, it just means you need to be more disciplined and take an extra effort to make sure your body is getting the best food it needs :)

    Niomi, artichokes are one of my favorite summer side dishes! I'd never heard of steaming an artichoke. I typically slice it vertically down the middle, scrape out the spikey/hairy middle, and pop it into a lot of boiling water until tender, drizzle on some olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper! It never disappoints!
