  • What I eat on a day running 20 miles on a plant based diet!

    Energy Gel Recipe (makes 4)
    4 Medjool Dates (soaked in water for an hour)
    1 tbsp Chia Seeds
    2 tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice - about 1/2 lemon
    2 tbsp Agave Nectar
    Pinch Himalayan Salt
    1 tbsp Raw Cacao Powder
    4 tbsp Water - from the water the dates were soaking in
    2 tsp Black Strap Molasses
    1. Cover the dates in water in a bowl and soak for an hour. Set the water aside for later.
    2. Use 4 tbsp of the water that the dates were soaking in to blend with all the ingredients. Blend until smooth in a nutribullet or something similar.
    3. Spoon into 4 sandwich bags and keep in the fridge or freezer.
    4. Use during high endurance running or workouts. I used one energy gel after 12 miles and then another after 17 miles.
    Electrolyte Water (makes 2 bottles)
    1.5 litres Water
    1/4 cup lemon Juice - about 1 1/2 lemons
    1/4 cup Lime Juice - about 2 1/2 limes
    1/2 tsp Himalayan Salt
    1 Orange, Juice
    1. Squeeze the juice from the lemons, limes and orange and mix well into the water with the salt.
    2. Pour into two bottles, and keep in the fridge. Shake well before drinking.
    3. I started sipping on mine slowly after about 10 miles. Try not to drink it too quickly.

      Naomi is plantbased not vegan, she wears fur and leather. I prefer listen to freelee, she can be mean but at least she doesn't have dead bodies in her weardrope

    I'm a nutrition and dietetics graduate student in the US and one of my professors does ultra marathons and Ironman races. Like yourself, she's very conscious of what she puts in her body as fuel. She uses a homemade fuel on her longer runs that consists of 1 banana, 1 small, cooked sweet potato, 1 Tbsp of peanut butter (heated in the microwave for ~20 second), 1 Tbsp of chia seeds, 1/4 tsp. cinnamon and a drizzle of honey. Mash all the ingredients together and there you go! It seems like you've got your fuel for this marathon set, but I thought I'd share this with you, in case you decide you want to mix it up if you do another distance race! Good luck!

      Saaaame. It worries me when so many people seem worried to eat "large-looking" amounts of food and usually eat So little! Especially if it's vegan, the less there's to be worried about!

    I watched your video yesterday and today i started to do yoga and jogged for an hour after i stopped working out for MONTHS. Thanks for always being a motivation.       +Beth Roger i know...it made me wonder if some people would view what I eat as a ridiculous amount, cause I don't exercise at all and I eat way more. I guess we should't compare, but it's a bit odd that she was saying that. Maybe she meant it was a lot for her personally, but it worries me a lot that it might fuel disordered eating in people watching it, who might eat a perfectly reasonable amount for their body, compare it to this, and think they're eating a ton. It's a bit how I felt, and I know I eat a good amount for me, so it worries me that younger, more impressionable girls will see it and take it more to heart.

    Good luck on the marathon! Looks like you're doing everything right. Few suggestions from my marathon experience: bring an extra hair tie, Epsom salt baths will be your best friend, and even if you don't think you'll need it, bring some pain relievers for the run. They may help you get thru the last mile or so if you are aching. Good luck and rock it girl!!

    home made energy gels can also go into baby home made fruit squeeze packets! they are also reusable. It might be easier for you to hold the gels than in a bag.

    Must be such an incredible feeling knowing you just RAN for 20 miles in 3 hours and a bit. So, so good! I did a 22 mile walk once and that took 8 and a half hours and I was recovering for days after that! You're superwoman :D

    LOVE this! It's SO important for us runners to remember to adjust our food intake to make sure we are fueling our bodies properly -- and I love that you're still conscious of taking care of your digeston while eating appropriately for your training!     RECIPE
    Choco Chia Seed Puddin
    1¼ cup coconut milk
    1Tbsp maple syrup
    pinch sea salt
    3 Tbsp cocoa powder
    ¼ cup chia seeds
    Mix all ingredients together in a mason jar and shake to combine to a pudding consistency. Let rest for 20 minutes

    I can't believe you went out after a 20 mile run, that's a perfect excuse to lie on the sofa for the rest of the day binge watching something! I felt so sick after my half marathon I couldn't even eat a proper meal, and my shins killed! I can't imagine doing a full one.. majorly impressed! xx

    really enjoy your what i eat in a day videos! coconut water is naturally super high in electrolytes, maybe you could use that in your home made electrolyte drink instead of water for the marathon? :)

      I think it might be because remember how she said she walked around for a bit and tried doing lunges after the run? That may of cooled her down, plus it was raining outside. So yeah possibly that :) Im a tomato after 1 mile 😹

    Niomi I was wondering if you could do a video on "going vegan", like how you became a vegan, your struggles, how you over came them. I am super inspired to make this life change for myself for my health as I am only 25 diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Anytime I eat anything that isn't plant based I feel unhealthy. tips?!
