I’m no aerodynamicist but I think The Race is wrong here. The side pod design clearly show a nuanced evolution of the design, not simply some size savings. If you look at the paint, you see that the air is being pulled into the middle of the sidepod where the indent is. This is because the indent creates suction and possibly extra air volume into the coke bottle. It’s a similar idea as Ferrari used last year in its slide design which was used to create a lower pressure area and pull more air down into the coke bottle. Red Bull is already trying some of this on the top but now they seem to be using the same idea on the side of the sidepod. Which again, leads me to believe they are fully understanding their design and will be deadly this year
Most teams are focusing on managing the body downforce with the ground effects. Which looks like a quick win. Mercedes has chosen to focus on the ground effects because of the rules focusing on ground effects. Ground effects relies a lot on how the suspension can control it. Mercedes switched to a different suspension setup this year. Will see how that pays off. Ferrari & Mercedes will be the new battle this year.

Yup. This is certainly the way to bring the car to full maturity. Evolving the basic concept over time just makes it more refined and I believe easier to tune and adjust for different circuits and weather conditions. I don't think the RB 19 will be as dominant as 2022 but I do believe Red Bull will certainly be the one their competitors will be looking to for "inspiration" as the season progresses. The real difference is characteristics of the car and why it suits Max Verstappen's driving style so well. @@gadboyz3705 my question was not about Merc or Ferrari. Those are just examples to explain what I mean. Can't be the same behind every car if every car is built different. And that is an advantage or disadvantage.
There was a lot of research done about dirty air hence the rules of ground effect being reintroduced, headed by Ross Brawn. The rules seem to have worked for being able to follow but largely depends on how much outwash cars can generate. That is what was a large factor in dirty air. I imagine with some of the innovative front wing designs (Haas, Mercedes and Ferrari) the latter with the slot gap separator vanes/ elements may generate a little more outwash than last year but not massively so according to Kyle engineers. The other air from the rear wing is thrown upwards and over the car following so should still have good ability to follow theoretically. I hope I don't jinx the racing now!
that means you can be heaver then the minimum weight but not lighter. if car and driver are under the minimum then the team must install a extra ballast to get too the correct weight
Will it be enough? Ferrari had the fastest car last year when the engine was running 100%, hence the majority of poles and this year they should be able to do so also during the races.

@@TorqueFormulaWon Thanks for that
Give a Honda a credit they deserve, look you can have a square car but if you have a fast and reliable engine you can still dominate.
guess there won't be a title fight this year. yay
Its hilarious how everyone copied Red Bull. But I think its great If it makes the races more close.
It’s not over yet
Hopefully they won't have another DNF because of the fuel pump like last year...
Unlikely, but I don't think they'll have as clean a season as 2022. Almost no crash related DNFs last year. Can't see them repeating that feat.
When you get a head start...

Why is it called minimum weight when all teams have to be below it? shouldn't it be called maximum weight? or am I reading it wrong?
No, you need to be above it, hence minimum weight
that means you can be heaver then the minimum weight but not lighter. if car and driver are under the minimum then the team must install a extra ballast to get too the correct weight
Will it be enough? Ferrari had the fastest car last year when the engine was running 100%, hence the majority of poles and this year they should be able to do so also during the races.
They need to fix their tyre deg. One lap pace is all well and good but the Red bull is/was the better race car.
There going to crush everyone
I don't understand. When your under the minimal weigth limit, thats not good right? Thats not legal..
Wait, didn't Max say he's going back to 33 even if he won last year?
Nope
Aston moved more towards Red Bull, so RB decided to copy some of Aston Martin's launch car's identities: a massive undercut and a flat nose...
All of their budget cap went to Alonso salary
Arhl... The budget cap doesn't even include driver's salaries.
"An oversteery car will be quicker"
You know who you are.
Take it up with The Race if you still disagree.
Obviously we're talking about fine margins, not terminal.
what is red bull cookin
What a team! So incredible powerful and Unbeatable
Best team, best car, best driver
Go Max get your third
Not so much change as we'd expected...
Start taking note’s Mercedes!!! Send over Lewis to take pictures and go back and tell you guys everything you doing wrong hahahaha!!!
Idk if this is legal or would be good but couldnt they add a venturi tunnel in that undercut in the side pods?
the actual venturi tunnels are afaik very very tightly regulated so I would say no.
There’s just no way they don’t win this year
Mercedes soon to cry about the double under floor once they start getting their asses kicked
