OUTSTANDING Nelson your orchid collection is looking fantastic as usual, here's a tip for you with feeding your orchids and pretty much everything is a sheep and cow manure tea using a bag made from 90% shade cloth and a plastic garbage 🗑 bin ,put 50% sheep and 50% cow in the bag and put it in the bin filled with water and leave it to stew for at least two weeks (give it a gille every now and then), then add 2 cups per 8 litres of water and spray all over the plants, another good fertiliser and pest deterrent is malicious add 2 table spoons to 8 litres of water but use a bit of hot water in the bottom of the sprayer to devolve the malicious it also smells nice when you spray it hope this is helpful to you, thanks again Nelson for your videos Mitch from Australia 🇦🇺

Wonderful! Your bulbophyllum are amazing! I saw a couple orchids in your collection (or 3 or 4 or more!) that I am going to be on the look out for. I have 3 young Samarai that are starting to flower for the first time. I think they are supposed to have a fragrance. Thank you! Everything is doing really good aside the crazy heat. You meant to say Vandocostylis Liam Sing. It’s an absolutely gorgeous Vanda. And it has a beautiful fragrance. A must have in any collection. My kitties love avocado. I heard it’s very dangerous for cats. But I do grow everything natural and free of any gmo or chemicals. So the fact that they eat my organic avocado for many years and they are healthy cats, makes you think what’s the real reason for commercial avocados being so dangerous to pets. My neighbors dogs always eat avocados as well and they are very healthy and happy.🥑🐈🐩💚
Wow, your orchids are magnificent 🎉🎉🎉. I think my favorite these days are the cattleya x brassavola... There are so many different ones... I would love to get more. Even the Encyclia (excuse the spelling) so many different ones. Love,love, love them......omw you. Definitely have the touch when it comes to Bobo's , I find them hard to bloom. They grow well but don't bloom that much for me. Your are stunning. Thank you for sharing😊

It does sound amazing. But they still haven’t done a thing about the focusing and overheated issues. 😢 Allot of people who do TH-cam and use the iPhone complain about the same things. The transition from macro to regular is awful. It glitches on the change of lenses. The video looks like it skips. Hopefully if Apple hears enough unsatisfactory comments on this issue, they’ll finally do something about it.

hi Nelson.. love your orchids... if I'm not mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong...one way of telling stanhopeas and gongoras apart is stanhopeas have one leaf, gongoras have two. I heard this somewhere..hope that helps.

I really enjoy watching your videos. Up here in PA we have had tremendous heat and humidity this year, in fact the humidity broke all kinds of records for how high and how long we suffered from it. My plants, being outside in a GH, really complained. Especially the cool growing ones. Now today we moved right into winter! Seems like we're down to two seasons now, summer and winter! It'll be in the high 50 tonight. The plants are saying thank you! Thank you too, for these great videos and letting us experience all those blooms. Stay well....
It’s a never ending care battle with the heat, the cold, and the heavy rains. It never ends. The ideal way of keeping orchids is in an enclosed environment with controlled light and temperatures. I wish we would start cooling down a bit. 🥵

Yes. Growing them outside has great advantages. We just have to be on the lookout for pest. Also weather changes can cause interruptions to the orchids health and growth. But living in Miami it is allot easier due to the constant humidity and warm weather.

Thank you so much! I usually gravitate to Krull-Smith cattleyas. They are so amazing there. Plus allot are award winning clones. So you are getting amazing quality in a bloom and plant. Also SVO in California have great Cattleyas too.
Do you have humming bird at your ranch? When our Tricoglotis blooms, the humming birds visit it. I need to be more vigilant and film it one day. 😊
I do but they come by seasonly. They are super tiny and love to feed from my bromeliad flowers.

Great stuff. I add it to all my feeding in Spring and Summer. I slow down a bit in Fall and Winter. I do it only once a month during the off season of growth. Spring and Summer it’s almost weekly.
It is September and I only have one dendrobium in bloom 🙁, can you say what is your watering regime for the phals?
I water my Phals to the eye and feel. They are in moss so I go by how the moss feels and what I see. If the moss is moist, I avoid watering. Understand that orchids have to be observed based on your environment. Watering is always adjusted to your environment. There is no “ one size fits all” in the care of orchids. If you follow my watering regimen and your environment is not as hot as mine, you may just kill your Phals due to over moisture. Phals can handle to dry out a bit. They don’t need to be moist all the time. In fall and winter I water them less.
What’s the best way to order from Hamlyn? Don’t they require a $500min?
I only buy from Hamlyn when they come to Miami. That’s why I like to get as many from them as possible cause they don’t ship to Miami.

Epson salt is a very loose proportion. Some people use 2 teaspoons to a gallon and others use 3 teaspoon to a gallon. I use Cal-Mag 1 tsp. To a gallon of water that already had magnesium. So I add 2 tsps. To the mix instead of 3.

You can do 2 to 3 teaspoon a gallon. I do 2 teaspoons to a gallon because I also add 1 teaspoon of Cal-Mag. This also has magnesium so it makes up for the 3rd teaspoon of epson salt.
