- For all of you asking, we're finally putting out some Xbox reviews, starting with The Ascent. We had a blast with this game but a lot of that fun comes with a big caveat. Tune in to learn why!

I fully agree with this review, other review videos on youtube only focus on the single player experience, thats why the game`s rating is higher, personally finished the game in online coop yesterday, i played from the cloud (xbox series x) while my friend was on his xbox one (older gen), this game is very buggy we had a lot of hard crashes, disconnects and LONG load times, especially in the elevators and while loading the game from scratch, maybe was the slower hardrive from the xbox one because my friend was hosting the game since the beggining. we kinda enjoy it but ended up calling this game TRASH due all the time we lost with all the problems i mentioned. I think people should say in which platform they played coop mode because aparently the game experience varies depending on the hardware you use, GOOD REVIEW I LIKED YOUR VIDEO

Good video! Question - when you say the guest player loses progress, do you mean story progress only ? Or story progress as well as any levels they earned during their coop session? Cheers.
Listen, I got my wife to start playing video games with me. She kind of liked Diablo, Castle crashers, some other common couch Co op recommendations, but she absolutely loved the assent. She would ask me, "you wanna play the game?" And I would just smile because I didn't have to push it on her. Glitchy? Yes. But so fun and actually requires some thought at times.

A year later on pc having a blast playing for the first time with my bestie but nearly every bug you mentioned we seen lol

Bought the game on steam, no issues playing with my gf so far, but we did crash during character customization and the game pad, an xbox controller, had buttons temporarily stop responding while on the main menu. It turns out they were loading in the buttons, I had to wait for them to activate. So weird...
Been considering this as its coming out on ps5 soon. Hopefully in a better condition, but this looks awesome
Yeah hoping the multiplayer bugs are fixed for this edition, good buy nonetheless!

7:06 You instantly equip gear that you pick up by holding down the pick up button. So you were sometimes accidentally holding down the button instead of tapping.
It's not technically a bug but a poor design choice. Hold-to-equip should just be removed because no one knows that it exists and only do it by accident, and the times when you should do it deliberately are extremely rare.
Huh, thanks for mentioned that. That’s super weird cause Andrew experienced that on regular while Gabe never had that happen to him once during our play trough. Regardless, poor design choice haha
I see, then the game must be sending the button down and up states separately, so when there is lag, the host can interpret a button tap as a hold.
Yeah that could be it! Super weird issue honestly hahah
@@TheCoOpBros I had the auto-equip issue only during co-op as well. Solo it never happened, so it's probably that lag!

Well much like The Ascent, we’re willing to put up with some jankiness, we’ll look into it! But love that shortlist!! Andrew’s actually playing Unsighted right now, we might play co-op sometime. We’d love to play Phasmaphobia if it comes to consoles sometime. And we’re planning on playing through the We Were Here series when the 4th game comes out!! A lot of the rest of those games have been on our backlog for a minute haha One day !

As of today (10/23/22), In local co-op, p2 definitely loses progress on top of other issues. So I would steer clear if anyone was planning on buying it for that. Lazy devs still hasn't fixed it!
Was player 2 logged into their account or playing as guest?
Have you guys tried minecraft dungeons? and Grounded? or dying light? last one has true coop story
We haven’t tried Minecraft Dungeons or Grounded, looking to play Grounded sometime this year though! We were going to play Dying Light 2 when it released a couple weeks ago but read reports of some bugs and connectivity issues with the co-op. We will be playing it in a couple months so we’ll have a review of that out soon!
Dying light 1 is still a good game if you guys are waiting for the sequel to be fixed

Yeah I know!! We were wondering if online would be better after we saw your local co-op coverage. But it seems like their about the same :/ Hopefully they get this over the finish sometime

I'm pretty bummed because seven months after this review the game is still basically unplayable in coop. Are the developers even still working on it at all?
Apparently there is DLC coming, maybe by then they’ll have fixed it

I can't recommend it. I've been trying to play online, but fail to join online every time. No major explanation to why my online game fails, but doesn't happen for my friends. This genre of game isn't my favorite, so I won't play it locally by myself. Being free on gamepass, I'm not spending money on it, but extremely frustrated from not joining on this game. The game has been out for nearly a year with some patches, but if I can't play it online, but my friends can, I can't support this game. Its giving me "Sonic 2006" vibes of promise but no delivery

How come the couch coop is just duplicates of player 1? Why can't I take my lvl 14 character and someone elses character and play on the same fucking screen? Why? Diablo 3 got this right back with PS3 for fucks sake. What am I doing wrong? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Surely the developers aren't stupid enough to do this to us. So what am I doing wrong? I cannot imagine why someone would want to play as someone elses character for coop.
