He better. Metacritic needs to be entirely discredited and thrown out as a measuring stick for devs and I hope Phil understands that by now. This is my favourite new IP in gaming in...probably 10+ years. I've been playing every moment I can for days - I just need more. Familiarity with other games due to being isometric aside, this is something completely new and unique when you play it yourself. There's so much room to build out loot systems/open world content/NPCs/etc here it's incredible, because the foundation is so damn solid. Blown away by this dev team.
I was worried about whether this game could live up to the what people expected from it. You can't imagine how happy I was to see the title of the video. Granted, I haven't played it yet but I usually agree with your reviews. Can't wait to load this up with my friends!
This is why I love this channel: getting turned on to cool-looking games like this, which I probably wouldn’t have found otherwise. Keep the awesome reviews coming!
I largely ignore the big review sites anymore. I have a selection of people (bloggers, content creators, podcasts, etc.) who tend to enjoy the same things i do, that i use for reviews when a game comes out. There actually seems to be a number of common themes about this game i keep seeing. It is apparently buggy, janky as hell in some cases, thin on some systems and has some stutter issues, etc. with the graphics. It is also apparently fun as hell to play. Not to mention gorgeous and with a nice soundtrack. I think i'm buying this one. I'd like to get it on console but i'm still trying for a Series X. If i don't get one in the next month or two, though, i'll just say screw it and buy it on steam. Cheers man :)
I also found the navigation to need some work. We selected 1 side quest to track and I couldn't see any icon or navigation marks, but then as we moved a marker showed up, so we followed it only to find out this was the other side quest that wasn't active or selected. The side quests areas locked behind locked areas was also annoying and I had 3 crashes while playing or stuck on menus I couldn't exit. Aside from that I had a lot of fun playing it and will keep going. Pretty much the same positive comments you had were my experience too. Thanks for another great review!
Camera in the better God of Wars were like this and it felt epic. The new God Of War felt like a scaled down version of the old one but people were all over it for some reason
Right! I hated the new one. I missed the fast n Furious game play of the old ones where you felt like a god slayer. The new one felt more like the witcher.

Holy shit at some of the major pub reviews for this - absolutely hilarious. "Bland and forgettable characters"...what? Poone is one of the funniest and most well voiced NPCs I've encountered in years. The dialogue all around is sharp and mature, while not taking some modern political stance or attempting to grandstand in any way. I think that's why it pisses off game journos, the latter is all they're looking for. Far from flawless, but this is my favourite new IP in years. Definitely a killer app. Thank you for continuing to be a voice of reason and giving dev studios like this the review they deserve. Everything about this game screams quality.
Bruh, the freaking remastered is made by Blizzard. The same one who made Warcraft 3 Reforged? The same one that announces Diablo Immortal? The same one that layoff 800 employees? The same one that ban Blitzchung? The same one that destroy Nostalrius? The same one that is freaking under lawsuit by California right now? You sure that same company made you interested in gaming again? Think wisely.
Vicarious Visions is the studio doing the remake and they have an amazing track record. I won’t argue that it’s nostalgia bait but I think it’ll be significantly better than reforged
Don't bother... I Canceled my D2R preorder and deleted all COD games off my ps5, because all of Activision/blizzard is full of shitty devs and corrupted by shit management that would fire people to protect their paychecks and keep on raping women in their "Cosby Suite"... Game is amazing. It's very rare a game comes along anymore that just pulls me in like this one does. Also the big one that seems to be missing from so many games today, is that it's just fun! No politics, no social bs...just a straight forward fun game from beginning to end. Thank you to the developers and look forward to future projects! P.s. send CDPR your notes ,they need them so badly! 🤣💯
Love Skill Up's reviews! I played the game yesterday with buddies online. I used the series x and my buddies were on pc. I was really liking the game but there are a bunch of bugs and glitches! Audio bugs, spawn bugs, UI disappearing, crashes, and joining a game mid match doesn't work most of the time. Since we were on different systems, we encountered different bugs but it seemed like I had the most issues on the series x. It looks fantastic and while I’ll have it due to GamePass, it sounds like it’s worth financially supporting the devs by buying the game too.
Never heard of it before this video, bought it before the video even ended.
As always Ralph, appreciate you taking the time to provide excellent reviews. Keep up the great work mate. The game is really fucking good.
I wouldn't be surprised if uncle Phil watches this 😂
Can't wait to try this on the weekend
This is why I love this channel: getting turned on to cool-looking games like this, which I probably wouldn’t have found otherwise. Keep the awesome reviews coming!
Been hyped for this game since the first time I saw it!
This pleases me! Xbox are absolutely killing it
their triumphant comeback is a great thing for all of us gamers :)
"I didn't have anyone to play couch co-op"
feelsbadman
the game just came out on steam less then 20m and my boi already highly recommended it
I'm so hype to download it now
Camera in the better God of Wars were like this and it felt epic. The new God Of War felt like a scaled down version of the old one but people were all over it for some reason
Right! I hated the new one. I missed the fast n Furious game play of the old ones where you felt like a god slayer. The new one felt more like the witcher.
@@jagerbombed2725 exactly!
Playing Ascent on PS5 graphically it's amazing, the mood is dark and the gameplay is literally a blast. This game toatally surprised me!!!
Dude, if it had a fallout like rpg system and narrative design it would be a Legend tier game.
Definitely!
Then play wasteland 3
@@MegaMerdeux do I need to play previous Wasteland games before Wasteland 3? I'm not familiar with the franchise but I heard it's a good game. So, I would like to try it out since it's on Game Pass.
@@chinsaka5346 I jumped straight to play Wasteland 3 without play other Wasteland😂 its really good. Still thinking to try Wasteland 2
@@chinsaka5346 playing previous Wasteland games will give you more insight into certain characters in Wasteland 3, but it isn't really necessary. The setting and story are drastically different from previous Wasteland titles, so it's a great starting point.
I am glad that I found this channel some time ago, this and ACG are the channels I go to for game reviews. Used to be three, when AJS actually reviewed games.
I can't wait to get home to start this, Game Pass for the win.
playing on game pass as well but im stuck with couple of side missions since I cannot access the NODE wtf? :D
@@matony19 there are a couple of missions that are unfortunately bugged, but for the Node, you have to advance the main mission enough to access it, that got me also.
@@terrelldowns6432 cool, thanks, will give it a try :)
Lol xbox trash
@@NeverQuit87 lol ok MadBoi
Excellent looking game. I only watched a few minutes if your review, but not down to quality or my appreciation of it, I just want to experience this game for myself. Also, adding the comment here for the algorithm. Keep up the good work.
Finally something that doesn’t disappoint!
Feels like it's been so long man. What a breath of fresh air
Seriously almost every game I been waiting on this year turnt out to be ass except this one. Here’s hoping the second half of games won’t be as worse as the first.
Scarlett nexus is dope too second half of the year is off to a good start
Except it does. It is beyond broken in coop and unplayable with game breaking bugs. It also screws up your single player save. We got 5 hours in and it broke. We have to restart.
@@RetroMonger Played it solo for 15 hours and had 0 problems. No single player save problems either
Came to check out your channel after I saw a major outlet say the game was too hard and gave it a 7 as a result. Thanks for the deep and engaging review!

This kinda reminds me when Contra try to get into 3D
Holy shit at some of the major pub reviews for this - absolutely hilarious. "Bland and forgettable characters"...what? Poone is one of the funniest and most well voiced NPCs I've encountered in years. The dialogue all around is sharp and mature, while not taking some modern political stance or attempting to grandstand in any way. I think that's why it pisses off game journos, the latter is all they're looking for.
Far from flawless, but this is my favourite new IP in years. Definitely a killer app. Thank you for continuing to be a voice of reason and giving dev studios like this the review they deserve. Everything about this game screams quality.
first time since "Crusader: No Regret" that i'm interested in a game like this
You've been waiting a while then haven't you!
@@SixFootTurkey_ well, i wouldn't particularly say "waited", but yeah, its been a while since then
This looks great. Thanks SkillUp, yet another game I would never have tried except for your endorsement
This and Diablo II Remastered has made me interested in gaming again :)
@@Geechi_ "Blizzard Entertainment Vicarious Visions" It's still a studio un der blizzard , wich is affected by everything that's happenned/happening
Don't bother... I Canceled my D2R preorder and deleted all COD games off my ps5, because all of Activision/blizzard is full of shitty devs and corrupted by shit management that would fire people to protect their paychecks and keep on raping women in their "Cosby Suite"...
Sick sexist hypocritical pigs...
Seriously... best game from blizzard in 20 years is a remake of a game that's 20 years old.... SAD AF
GG
Gaming in 2020 is still absolute shit and you're nothing but a number for investors these publishers like to show off... they are gaming dictators...
I think my takeaway from the sponsor message was actually that we definitely need a setup tour video. Damn, man - that's a fine-looking studio.
As someone that has been living through some decades of games this gives me so many Loaded vibes and those who know this game understand what i mean.
That game brings back some great memories.
Fantastic review, as always! Been looking forward to this for a while now, day one on GP!
My playstation owning heart breaks as I realize I won't be able to play this one. Sad day💔
Same :(
Gotta have both!
But Sony has a handful of 10 to 20 hour single player only blockbusters. Life is full of decisions
you could stream it from xCloud at least! on a computer, phone, and they're working on a tv stick.
@@Harold1986 i mean, ps for their exclusives and pc for other exclusives here for me xD
Your reviews are so good. It really shows your appreciation for gaming. Thank you.
I really hope this gets patched up quick since online coop is the main appeal for this game.
Thank you Skill Upp for all the fantastic content you always brings us. I appreciate your takes greatly 👍
got this after watching this video, this looks awesome. Love your reviews btw whenever I'm hesitant on a game I check your channel for a review, keep up the good work!
Anyone else notice that there were no weights on any of the weightlifter's bars?
If you interact with the weightlifters, it adds them.
It’s a warm up set lolz
Warm up sets lol
people are just too strong , they just pick them up and lift while they walk
You can actually press X to add weights, small things like this make immersion even better. I mean I just got the Hygene award for using a toilet and sink after each other haha
I've been waiting for you to review this and I was hoping you praised it. Thank Gosh - now I'm even more excited
"TH-cam's shit-tier compression." Lmfao
Rarely is there ever a review of yours that I diagree with. Enjoying the heck out of this title, especially because it’s a game I normally wouldn’t play (thank you gamepass). Great review and thanks for your hard work.
"Enemies are clever" - no, they just rush you. Every single type does.
I've been eagerly awaiting this one - can't wait to play later today! Glad to see your comment on the Death's Door video about the exclusivity and that it isn't included here. Props!
ok three and a half hours to go and i can finally play this
Such odd timing for the release date lol. Nonetheless...I'm hype!
@@ThePokestopPapi sure is, but damn i cant wait to play it haha
Dude, you literally make the best reviews. I'm always so excited when you have a video out... for a game review!! I think thats crazy. Keep it up man 😁👍
This looks like the cyberpunk game we wish we had.
Nah. I mean it looks great, but nah.
I love your videos bro. You put your thoughts together in such a beautiful way. I really enjoy your content bro. This game looks fantastic, and perfect for a couple of friends and I.
Debating getting a Series S just for this game haha. Use my PS5 for most games but I want this game bad
Go for it, Microsoft Flight Simulator will blow you away, even on the S. It's graphically the most impressive next-gen game. I've both consoles spend a lot more time on my XSX due to gamepass. I use my PS5 for exclusives only.
It's only timed exclusive. Just play something else for now. Or of course buy a Series S, but you don't technically need it
@@teehundeart Based on the confidential leaks of MS documents during the Epic v Apple trial, this game seems to be an exception in being a permanent exclusive. We'll have to see if that's true.
@@teehundeart Have you seen the upcoming gamepass lineup? Forza 5, Psychonauts 2, Hades, Halo Infinite, Stalker 2, trust me you're missing out by not having both consoles.
@@ishaansaral502 oh, maybe my information is outdated then. The last I heard they had purchased timed exclusivity similar to Final Fantasy on PS5
Excellent review! Doing awesome work in the editing room, and also supporting indie devs who put out absolute banger games.
So much fun and so pretty. It's insane how big some of the levels are and how many ai there can be.
Why can't cyberpunk 2077 look this good, have this much ai, run this good, and be this optimized with a:
-AAA budget
-10x staff
-7 years dev time
this looks AWESOME and i didn't really know about it. Shillup should be an indie channel forever
