Sorry about not making a video in a while. I was in the process of making quite a big one, but had to take a break to make a short video so that everyone didn't think I was dead.
As an East Coaster I disagree. I think the West and Midwest are each amazing in their own way. People just tend to become desensitized to their surroundings, but any time I get to travel out West it feels like the wilderness is such a treat.
I have a theory we would out compete everyone in the west coast and thrive if only we'd move. Like a plant. That is surviving when it's not quite in the correct spot. It wont die but its prob not flowering or whatever either. Then you give it the correct conditions and it out competes the other plants. Grows the biggest the fastest....cause the roots are so strong from surviving.
Depends, really. Christianity isn't the only religion with a concept of demons or hell. And since those in Doom are really more alien than biblical, I daresay it's pretty secular.
Don't undersell the Midwest! Some truly gorgeous forests and mountains there! Loved your "upside down" basing, definitely might mix it up a little for my eventual chaos army.
If you don't want to buy expensive diamond plate plasticard go to a Home Depot or any lumber store and see if they have any scraps of hard plastic banding from the lumber or ladder freight. The stuff has an industrial texture that easily pass for treadplate or expanded metal. They'll give it to you for free if you ask!
Scott you have amazing timing! I just, today, brought a bunch of greenstuff putty and self-drying clay but was super frustrated because I didn't know where to start. So thanks ! :)
These are GREAT, I'm not really a gamer in this Field But I LOVE to make some of these! What is the best 2 sizes for these! Next I needs to learn how to use an air brush!!! Love Your Work of Art!! great Job!
4:00 my friend did base like that, but he just freehanded it, kinda looked like it was painted with blood using a corpse dragged across the floor, came out really cool.
I did almost message you to see if you were alive, but then I questioned whether or not that was any of my business, and BAM! Basing video. Glad you're alive!
Hey! Great to see a video! Your bases are some of my favorites, they always look so bang on. The next time we see some bases could we see some water bases? Beaches or uses for water effects?
When I first started my bases, some texture paint and dry brushing was me being bold. Now it’s plants, debris, and sand bags. I gotta up my game now though!
I think being able to wing it when basing models is a pretty essential skill really, since you never know what kind of crazy mini you're gonna be basing next. Case in point, I recently 3d printed an elf rogue with a really cool dynamic stance. Unfortunately when I came to mount it on a regulation size DnD base, I realised that the stance was so wide that it was impossible to actually fit both feet on the base... No worries though, I cracked out my basing materials and managed to improvise a rocky outcrop using some cork, stones and texture paste. I made it overhang the base slightly at the edges, just enough to fit the model but not so much that it looked silly. That base would suck if you tried to mount any other model on it, but it worked great for the one I printed. A bit of creativity solves any problem.
great video, i was gonna do a snow trench mix for my orks but now im gonna do a tundra one. luckly I live in the rockies area of the usa so I have alot of tundra near me. (its all just tundra or Steppe)
I have been wanting to improve my base game, but how do you attach the mini to the base? Some of these bases make it seem difficult to attach the mini I want to do some WW2 minis on grassy fields, but I worry that glueing metal minis to static grass is just going to give me minis with grass glued to them and bases with bald patches haha
I didn't know alcohol takes away the paint to leave a nice base till now, or i forgot? I always worry i'm gonna f up and get black on the top part of my base so will try this when I can!
Where did you get the tufts you show off that is the second one? The full white sheet with brown, its whispy and amazing, I looked at your links and couldnt find it :( maybe their picture of the product sucks compared to yours that makes me wonder where it's been my whole life?
First and foremost - great video and tutorial. Regarding the demon base, did you think about painting the base in reverse? For example airbrush the white; then fluorescent red, mask the pentagram/outer rim and airbrush the black and corresponding highlight? Would you mind sharing why you took the approach you took? Again, great video; love your work!
Great Video, really liked the bases. I think you have great skills for terrain and bases, that just add up to your painting skills. Please more of this. Also Stranger things Synth music is cool was hoping for a bit more hahaha.

@@Miniac and warlord games is giving me a 404 Perhaps because I'm on mobile(I've yet to try these from my desktop, give me a bit and I'll check from there)
Hey Scott, thanks for another bases video. Just one Question. You often use super glue for the dirt, earth and so on to seal the stuff on the base. Did you ever had the problem that the glue starts frosting? Is it nor really that problem when you prime the base afterwards, but for adding the tufts it would be really anoying.
It looks like you got some airbrush paint into that open wound on your thumb? I think you might want to clean that off and stick a bandaid on it before you get anything else in there.
I would recommend to always paint your tufts and any other basing materials, as well as the rim of the base, to keep the finish unified with the model itself. Unpainted grass tufts etc. stick out like a sore thumb from a painted model and tge rest of the base due to their plasticy look, which makes them look much less realistic. Using washes is an easy way to achieve that, just add a bit of a highlight at the top of the tufts to make them pop and you are done.
Do you think a model would look out of place on the stranger things base without similar lighting? Think it could be a cool way to rebase some chaos marines , but maybe a different colour scheme :)
It all depends on what your story is. If the world is a blue world because of the flora/fauna have eaten a certain bacteria in the water, then it's fine. Ultimately, if you think it looks cool, go for it!
@@Miniac really looking forward to giving it a try! Will decide if it's a lighting thing or just the colours of the vegetation themselves, thanks for replying! Been thinking bout rebasing them for a loooong time!

As a person from the Midwest, I appreciate how you took the time to point out how unspectacular we are. It is very bland here

Doom is the most Christian game ever, can't be a more Christain activity then slaying demons. XD
I actually think this is true. Christianity is way more hard core than people give it credit for.
Do you know the truth of the Emperor of Mankind, Heretic?

Slaying demons and fiddling underage boys. Ah Christianity the most noble of religions. Great video though.
Love the basing videos, feel free to make as many of em as you want.
Using the same method of base four, inspired to have arms and hands reaching out from the dark abyss to try and grab a sorcerer. Great vid!

what did you use to seal at the start? really thin superglue?
Yeah, "super glue thin"
Why do you clean the rims instead of painting black? Seems like a hassle to me but maybe a more durable finish as theres no paint to scratch off?
