    If I was holding that sword, I don’t think I could resist yelling at the top of my lungs,
    “ This is Sparta !!! “ I would probably get some strange looks but totally worth it! Great review btw!

    No doubt that Tops makes great knives. As a comparison for those on a budget look at Ontario's 18" military machete and sheath at $25 and $15 respectively. Not nearly as good a handle and sheath but it's 1095 steel and military grade.

    So Ive got one for big jobs.....and a tops bob fieldcraft....a bk7, apache dawn rockies, bk2, and operator7. Ive used the bk7 extensively on oak and it did great! Except for some pieces I had to use the bk2. Edc a sak, ferro,nail clippers....so here's my question: havent really used my op7 much, I was surprised at how well it diced an onion....but which in your opinion is better all around? Bk7 vs Operator7 vs Apache Dawn vs Bk2?

    Tops makes high quality tools. Well in this case it appears to be a great Tops design. Hope they are around next year as things are tight money wise till then. Unless you want to do an GAW to me on it LOL. Like the saying goes the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. This is definitely an short sword that proves the point. Thank you so much for showing this. I definitely need one. Love that they didn't skimp on the sheath.

      Same here..I mean,I could take it camping with me but I doubt I would very often..I usually carry my ESEE Junglas or my TOPS Storm Vector for a chopper.not only are they amazing choppers but they mount up perfectly on the side of my pack..as cool as this sword is,it’s just too big to carry like this plus these Junglas and Storm Vector are heavy enough,I would rather not add all that unnecessary extra weight..it would look nice hanging on my wall though and it would be fun to go out in the back yard and play bushcraft ninja but when I look at the price I can’t help but think about other knives I could buy that I would get far more use out of..or I could put that money towards another gun.either way I would get more bang for my buck..I mean,one could always buy a Cold Steel Katana machete.sure,the Cold Steel isn’t nearly as awesome but it’s a fraction of the price at around $50

    Love the design but it looks like its going to be in the $280-$300 range. A little more than I'd be willing to spend on it. I had a custom I designed that's made from Nitro-v at 61 hrc and a kydex sheath and that cost me $200. Its 12" instead of 15" but has a better handle, grind(saber convex with 0.015 at the sweet spot and 0.008 at the tip and by the handle), a finger choil and neutral balance if you hold at the choil. Nitro-v is stainless and has a higher toughness than 1095 and boy did it hold up. Used a Shrade and a Cold Steel alongside my custom which did about 70% of the chopping. Shares and Cold Steel had dull spots and a few chips but the custom was still cutting newsprint pretty clean.
    If this was about $200 I'd be all over it because I love this type of design but at around $300 I'll pass.

    • @375Cheytac
      @375Cheytac 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely. If your main purpose is clearing greenery (ferns, blackberry bushes) this is not the ideal tool (although it will do it).
      It gets tiring after a little bit to swing when cutting light brush.
      However it is still an awesome tool and what I carry for bush crafting/INCH bag.
      If I could only have one tool for all outdoor work this would be it.
      If you need something for greenery I would suggest getting a machete and a saw (something like a “silky outback big boy 2000”). You can do A LOT with that combo. Cheers!

    • @375Cheytac
      @375Cheytac 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also it depends on the person swinging. I’m average-slightly above average strength, but someone who is on the bigger side wouldn’t have much of an issue using this as a machete.
