is TH-cam being broken again? it shows for me as posted 10 hours ago but after many scrolls I could not find it. i said sure noki mentioned about no rushing and that's amazing, but why this comment is only showing me 17 upvotes and I could not find it despite repeated trying. only found it via google doc. am I the only one?
I did the spotify chat support and repeatedly voiced how disappointed I was in bricking the car thing and was given a refund of mine torwards the premium account. If you have one absolutely voice up and let them know and get your money back. Hit them in the bottom line a little bit.
What is missing from the power supply video is information about the noise, especially a noise/load-curve and noise characteristics. The only reason I have ever returned a power supply (Corsair 1000W SFX) was because of horrible fan control, which was by far the loudest component at 40% PSU load and actually sounded broken at 60% load.
At the time of writing this comment, audio noise testing is planned. The acoustic chamber is just not completely built yet. That's written on the product page.
I was perfectly happy with BeQuiet, but decided to give a chance to Seasonic due to their good reputation. It turns out that people's definition of QUIET is not the same for everyone! I had to return the Seasonic and go back to BeQuiet!
so why even bother stating the investigation release when they say absolutely fully nothing of any interest about it and just breeze/speed over the whole matter? totally pointless.
@@RandomUser2401 Because those are the results of the investigation, the part that matters. If they were to go into detail it would be incredibly boring because every name and revealing information would be redacted
Linus, I can't believe you won't buy a floatplane for Floatplane. Think of the advertising opportunities! And when it costs too much to fly, just think of the TAX WRITE-OFFS! You literally can't afford not to buy one!
ReBoot is more important the Toy Story. The guys who made it, who were the ones who did Dire Straits "Money For Nothing" CGI and age before anyone else did that level of CG Animation, created a legacy of companies that are still setting the highest standards for CG artistry.
Three men laughing about jackets with zippers to nowhere and pockets that don’t open and basically calling it a joke should probably look in their partners closets…
They do know better, I'm surprised they didn't mention it, but it doesn't make it less funny. Don't they still exist because people still buy them? That's pretty funny to me
The issue with the artificial voice is neither that it is too slow nor too fast - it’s that it doesn’t give the usual clues to what is important. It’s an intonation problem. It’s difficult to pay attention to anything said. Honestly I would never be able to get through it.
Not to mention the blow to credibility and quality you take by deploying AI services. If Linus even predicts that this service won't be useful, and "expects it won't be profitable," why deploy it? Seriously frustrated by this decision. I defended LTT so hardcore to so many Gamer's Nexus stans, only for them to be proven right with this announcement. Hard yikes. My bad guys, I think I'm beginning to see the reality you laid out.
@@GodBlessCanada It's labs data. Data they intend to have nicely categorised and everything on their site - it should for sure be available elsewhere ;)
@@A38 Would you be willing to elaborate on what about this decision frustrates you so much? The purpose behind deploying it, the way I see it, is because they are trying to offer something genuinely useful despite it not being profitable. To this end, making the info as widely available and searchable/findable as possible makes a lot of sense. But considering limited resources, I find that this is a good demonstration of automation tools done right: employing them in parallel to humans to increase possible output so that as many people as possible can benefit from the information. And since none of the data/script is AI generated, it also isolates from the dangers of using generative models... This is my thinking at least. It's stupid to not use the tools that we have, we just need to use them responsibly, and i feel like LMG is doing just that here. Is there something that I'm missing? Would love to get some response :)
@@A38 Giving you the benefit of the doubt. Why does it matter to you whether it's profitable for LTT? That wasn't the point to begin, Neither for the LABS project itself nor these videos. Also, he didn't call it universally useless, that's a bad faith argument, buddy. They're basically a cost neutral production but with added value to any consumer who doesn't care about entertainment and just wants information (and who can't be bothered to read a wall of text). Not to mention that the use of an AI voice itself isn't unethical either. Just think about the value this brings to people with visual disabilities since they won't have to rely on their screenreader to parse information from a complex webpage. Also, speaking of Gamers Nexus, Steve does a great job of providing in-depth reviews but neither he, nor the mainline LTT channel could ever hope to cover enough power supplies to cover every unit that could be interesting for a consumer. Both can only cover the ones that they deem valuable content, this bypasses that restriction.

They probably wanted people to click on it so that they could hear the bit about getting banned from the channel, I suspect several people have already been banned by Linus
@@ScottWallace5 it is of great importance to some and this basically announces that it did get released. And because of it's importance, it's the first topic and thus the title.
It sort off annoys me the click baity title on a wan show. The summary is that wan show isn't to discuss this matter, then WHY IS IT ON THE TITLE? Completely unnecessary on a WAN Show. Just stupid.
@@V1N_574 probably didn't need to be in the title, but it is important to make sure everyone sees it on TH-cam (since it's not easily seen on Twitter unless you know to look for it or are a Twitter user). I first noticed it with Windows Vista, how they changed the names of folders so that they were the same as a Mac's At first it was just annoying, but over time they started adding all the things that make Mac bad to use
Because now that the new CEO is here they will cut anything not profitable and loose what made LTT in the first place. The convention is already gone because of profitability, it´s only a matter of time before Linus leaves the company to die

Building my next PC is going to be so much easier when LTTLabs is up and running holy moly. The entire process of researching parts always stresses me out, as a person with limited means I cannot afford to make mistakes.
I think the fact you are actively creating a channel to fill that gap for us, knowing it won't generate a buttload of views, is brilliant. Knowing it comes from yourselves, we know we can actually trust it. It's so hard to find trustworthy articles these days, as they're saturated with ads and waffle to keep you on the page longer. This is a great idea, and I hope it expands to cover more peripherals
Ok, hear me out, I don't know if you guys ever thought about this before, but wouldn't it be cool to make a "ltt asset tag sticker" sticker available on the store? Personally i'm not a stiker guy, so I could be wrong, but I think people might like it
I see what you're doing but no, the Car Thing literally is just a remote for the Mobile app on your phone. Even works offline. So they've deliberately gone out of their way to kill off a product that didn't use a back-end server outside of the app running on your phone.

Just a quick heads up about walk-in doctors. I went to my regular doctor as well as an emergency room and both parties misdiagnosed my scarlet fever. It was progressing rapidly and I went to a walk-in clinic who was able to correctly diagnose me and get me antibiotics that saved my life. There are uncaring people and there are people that do their job correctly because they want to do their job in every industry.
My bullshit metre is tuned to computer generated voices, when I'm part hunting and watching videos if a video has a TTS voice or an AI Voice and I can tell then I will click off almost guaranteed. Maybe I use it as a shorthand of low quality, maybe I'm a monkeybrain who needs (convincing) human voices to tell me information or maybe its something else entirely but I think the PSU channel might suffer because of it.
i think if it says AI that's fine, the problem is there's hundreds and hundreds of AI channels now and it absolutely infuriates me when they infest my feed. so if they come right out and say it , at least I'll KNOW so I know it's not BS.
I instantly assume basically anything AI voiced isn't worth my time. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure why myself, but I will instantly stop watching and tell youtube not to recommend it anymore. If it's already a channel I recognize, then.. maybe? I'm not sure.
@@BryanLu0 Right, and I know Labs will be quality, I'm just commenting that I immediately categorize Computer Generated voices as a non-watch, so I think others will too. Who knows if there is an overlap with the people they are targeting though
The PSU channel probably will suffer from lower quality, but that's the whole reason they're using AI. The budget for the PSU videos is basically negative, so using AI allows the channel to exist in the first place, where it otherwise wouldn't be something they could offer.
Hey team! I, like probably many other don't have an account on Twitter anymore. And if you're NOT logged in Twitter seems to sort an account's timeline by Tweet likes instead of when it was posted. Please consider direct linking the tweet to the external investigation.
Can confirm that walk in clinics tend to be pretty bad. They're just there as a stopgap, and to be fair they get a wide amount of clients who the whole STD/STI angle may be viable for. Its a good thing Wifey knows that markers and false positives are a thing in medicine.
How many walk in clinics, in how many countries have you been to? Just what is so special about your sex life that you need to go regularly enough to have a useful amount of data on this, just from personal experience? I mean... maybe go to a sex ed class and learn how to have a safe sex life by default and you won't need to go and checked for STDs quite so often?
The problem with the AI voice is the lack of range. It talks in a generally monotonous way and at the end of sentences and pauses, the tone goes down, as it should, but it never goes up. So the tone only goes from mid to low, not to high. There is no sharp high tone for "but", "in order to", "not" "while" and so on.
I think people are totally missing the point in the ML voice videos, these are not meant to be entertainment or even "watched" they exist to give the consumer concise easily accessible information. If you can't be arsed to read the article go watch this 5-10min video. I think the best way to view these videos is as literally "tools" if all you care about is say what cables the PSU comes with skip to that chapter in the video BOOM! IN
100% that is exactly what these videos are for. They aren't to make money, they aren't to entertain. They are voiced articles basically. Not to mention "The AI voice is taking someones job!" No. It isn't. If they have to have hire more people to make these, they just won't exist at all. The lab employs dozens of people, the end product having AI voice actually boosts jobs, not takes them away.
Part of the reason I don't like a few review channels is specifically the tone being too distracting. This is meant to be straightforward which I definitely prefer over something like GN Steve's tone trying to talk about every minute detail (no offense meant, but steve doesn't have the voice for it)
You're wrong about the scarjo thing. In the 80s, the producers of ghostbusters asked huey lewis to write the soundtrack to the film. They refused. So the film hired ray parker jr to do the theme instead and basically said "make this as close to huey lewis as you can". Huey lewis won the settlement. The fact that they specifically wanted scarjo to do the voice and then made a soundalike (even posting "her" on twitter") is a big problem for them
About the Spotify thing: in the EU they can't actually get away with this. Even AFTER the warranty period expires, when a product breaks and it is proven that it's the manufacturer's fault, they are still going to have to repair/replace it as if under warranty.
and lets be honest, you are correct but nothing will happen. Most of todays business practices are illegal in one way or another. Teslas with FSD for example, not to bash just a perfect example of a product that violates the law yet is legal, are illegal to park on german public roads. The reason is that its a constantly recording, unattended camera setup. And your only allowed to set one up with a permission slip from your city. For every instance you would park your car. But as of german legislation right now these types of cars violate civil laws and the dsgvo. Heck, for a couple of years its even legally required in germany and i think eu countries to have an instant cancellation button when you can 1 click sign contracts online. Most online platforms still dont give two shits and dont even care when you threaten with a lawyer. Just cost of doing business.
@@gulagamelee4804 In the EU, things will actually happen. You are pretty much guaranteed to win a court case if it comes to that, but it won't even have to with consumer union like organisations stepping in before that happens. You're probably underestimating the rate at which consumers are protected in the EU.
I am literally the only person in my friends group that has watched Reboot, I don’t even know if I’ve interacted with anyone that has watched it. Stoked as hell for this project.
for the blood test thing, I work in the field and there's so many things that can give you a false-positive in a screening test, that's why there are confirmatory tests with higher effectiveness and you dont conclude based on initial results lots of doctors are lazy and dont give a shit about patients unfortunately and they wont even know how some tests look for the anti-bodies, or for the antigens of a virus for example, it just depends on how the test is designed, let alone tell you the sensitivity or specificity stats of a test or things that might generate false-positives I hate bad doctors so fucking much I share your rage from that story, now imagine living in a country that is experiencing brain drain and interacting with the doctors here
Oh man. After getting 4hours+ long WAN Shows ... I can not live with this "short" under 3 hour anymore. How do i fill my saturday. Great Show. Sudden Ending.
Cats and technology: my dad once built a catflap into the garage to put the litterbox there with a switch that would turn on the ventilation to remove the smell. Made a hole in the wall for it and all. Once it was complete the cats went in there ONCE and then never again. Apparently just the click of the sensor put them off. Tried several variations. In the end we closed up the hole in the wall and placed the litterbox underneath the stairs again. Cat - us 1 - 0.
Best lesson I learned for not getting sick came from my NCO in the Army. He told me stop opening doors with your hands. Because of fire regulation, most doors can be opened the outside of your arm.
@@hypercringenemia I don't think he said salaries was the cause. He said that the US pays doctors more, and that the for profit care system that allowed that predatory behaviour was the issue.
1:39:00 I obviously had an ear infection one time in college. I went to the school's clinic and said, "I have an ear infection and need antibiotics." The doctor *hated* that. She had such an attitude after I said it and said, "We'll see about that. You're not a doctor. I am a doctor. You are an art student." She didn't say a word, looked in my ear. Kept grumbling to herself. Then she says, "You have an ear infection. I'm writing you a prescription for amoxicillin." Hah!
Imagine if someone came to you and said they wanted to commission a painting. And here's one they did earlier. I bet a lot of artists would be annoyed to. Depending on the type of person, they may have a learned to deal with it better, but that's not unique to doctors.
@shall_we_kindlyhonestly I can see why they are like that people come in day after day with x thing or think they are dying, or give the doctor/nurse attitude and have to deal with it all day. So seeing someone who does not have any medical degree come in and say they have x it makes sense why they act like that. They did not spend 100k if not more schooling, residency, etc to be told by someone without that degree they have something.
It's an attitude problem. "I'm pretty sure I have an ear infection. [describes observed syptoms]" would almost certainly work much better. The doctor does not want to be held liable for your amateur hour self-diagnostic.
The PSU LTT Labs post is really cool. The design is very pleasing, both the webpage and the slides. Keep it up, I’d love to see a version full of articles and data some day.
I love that Labs video because, I can only really listen to podcasts at work. So if I want to build a new PC and do a bunch of research on a ton of different parts, being able to just listen to what would otherwise be an article is outstanding.

The old Amiga computers still run and they are 39 years old now and they have recently gotten a updated Amiga OS version 3.2 together with new kickstart roms. That is what I call good length of support.
Well, not by Commodore. They went bust because they didn't know how to obliterate the IBM PC which was, as I recall, hot garbage at the time and not responsible for Babylon 5 or any good games. I do miss having one, though I don't want one now.
Spotify intentionally broke car mode on phones in order to sell you Car Thing. Except it wasn't even available in most countries. It spawned a number of wrapper apps designed to replicate the old car mode interface.
The biggest issue with the "Car Thing" is that its just a remote for your existing Spotify app, and that it requires AUX cables. My radio has neither bluetooth or aux, so i bought a $4 bluetooth to FM transmitter that connect to your phone and transmits the sound to my radio and sounds and works just as good tbh and my phone already controls Spotify JUST FINE in car mode and looks the same and all
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't The Thing a 1980's horror movie set in Antartica, where some alien life is hunting, killing, and eating living things? Not a horror fan, so I'd life to see The Thing bricked.
Considered one of the best horror (hint of sci fi I guess too) movies of all time. Incredible special effects, superb cast, and based on the premise of who can you *really* trust. The ending is genius... 👍 Def worth a watch if not just for the iconic experience but be warned, it's very graphic in terms of make up/special FX!!

The state of healthcare in Canada and the fact that doctors are moving to the US for better pay seems similar to us in Austria and Switzerland. In Austria, we used to have a very good health care system that has had its budget cut. So instead of waiting a few days for an appointment, you have to wait weeks or months. Most doctors are moving to Switzerland or becoming elective doctors because of the better rates. So GPs are becoming rarer and as almost all citizens here have health insurance, it is often better to go to an elective doctor and get a partial refund from your health insurance. This way you can get a same-day or same-week appointment and get up to 80% back
TBH, the situation in Switzerland isn't better either, because the problem is not just brain drain between countries - it's the fact that medicine is a mess everywhere: horrible work/life balance leading to massive rates of burnout and mental health issues, pay that is not appropriate.. At some point, IIRC there were reports that hospitals here were losing staff faster than they could hire/train, specially among nurses, because they were all concluding the career wasn't worth it.
It's very interesting to hear that. Bc has recently been advertising outside welsh hospitals on digital billboards suggesting staff look into their relocation schemes for better pay/working conditions.
@@weirdguybr Also interesting to here. For us it's so ridiculous as university education is free here (except a small fee for the Austrian Students' Association which is like € 300 per semester). People come here and get their degrees, yet there is little to no incentive to keep them here. So they go back to their own country while we are desperately searching for medical staff
@@michaeljones5681 I assume the health system in BC gets less and less funding to be sustained as well? I mean the peak is the NHS in the UK. Their system basically is collapsing right now
The problem with using AI voices is that AI voices are typically used by content farms trying to make money by making low quality content, and the general census of AI is that it's prone to hallucinate. As sad as it is, by using AI voices, people will think that you're an untrustworthy content farm. You can't make people trust AI voices.
as someone who is STRONGLY against stuff like AI generaterd ''art'', videos or similar, something like psu circuit is a really interesting case of Ai content automation potentially being acceptable, as linus said multiple times, theres just no way you could get this information out there if it wasnt for these kinds of cost cutting measures. really hope that other, less ethical companies wont see this and decide replacing actual staff with AI is ok though. but it's not like it isn't already happening.
Love that article about understanding the graphs and diagrams!!! It would be great if there was video going through that, maybe with the writers and tech wizards who come up with it. Please 🙏
I think a lot of users don’t understand how distros and DEs are not necessarily linked. Coming from Mac and Windows, I had no concept of the DE as an individual, replaceable component until I started using Linux.
@@Stonley890 well to be fair, the most common topic about Windows 11 is how to install a desktop environment that doesn't suck as bad as Windows 11 implementation of a previously less bad desktop environment. I mean, who is using vanilla Windows 11 long term? No-one sane.
No, the distro MASSIVELY matters. People keep recommending Ubuntu and Arch based distros over Debian Stable based distros, and then they wonder why people keep running into breakages in software. And I don't wanna hear how this one unstable distro you have "totally worked for years, bro". We're talking about new Linux users. And if we want new people to stay around, then we NEED TO STOP RECOMMENDING UNSTABLE DISTROS. Yeah, sure. There's a chance they may work totally fine. But that's the point. It's a roll of the dice. That's what unstable means. It may or may not work. And even if the distro works today, after updates, it may not work then either. Debian Stable based using Flatpaks on the side as needed is the way.
@@arnox4554 LMDE is going to be a huge jump forward for Mint, to be sure. Basing it directly off of Debian is going to do a lot for reducing the amount of work that need to go into dealing with Ubuntu's mess.
If they don’t mention the 3rd party in the title they’ll be accused of hiding it & when they do use it they’re accused of clickbait titles. I've read the comments & arguments but I stand by this comment. They can't win. They can't talk about it on WAN as it's an internal legal issue. Ive read the statement, tells you all you need to know.
Not saying LMG did not a single thing wrong, but they do the best thing they could, not persuing legal action (unless the other party intent to) And the other party has involvement of relatively younger person, it's important for younger person not get completely crushed by legal repercussion at this stage of their life, be it justified or otherwise They still have a long future ahead
Spotify story: This feels like an always online video game being taken down. Hell even pricing is about the same. Is it horrible? yes. is it surprising? no. If buying is not owning piracy is not theft.
@oxfordsparky i half agree with you because in spotify story: You bought hardware ,a physical thing unlike in video games where its completely software However, I don't think it's a strawman. @unpronouncable2442 is drawing an analogy about digital ownership between Spotify and online games. The point about piracy is a philosophical take on not owning digital purchases, not a misrepresentation of someone else's argument.
The Spotify Car thing is just a remote for the phone app. Hell it even works offline and only worked if you were a premium subscriber. There is absolutely no reason for them to kill it off. It's more like if someone released a $90 game with only Steam DRM (that being that you have a steam account) and then completely broke the game so it always crashed and nuked it off the face of the planet and told users to delete the files so that nobody could fix the game. That game having minded you was perfectly working, and worked offline.
@@Seawolf.Gaming good job no-one deleted a major game that was hugely successful because they're incapable of doing business in a mere 177 countries on the planet at all on any level because they're so bad at it they either can't, or they're so corrupt they're not welcome to. But yes, I think it's a pretty reasonable comparison. Still, on the one hand you might lose a good game. On the other, you might lose an expensive subscription to a selection of music you don't want anyway, that isn't yours, offers no advantages and doesn't pay the musicians well. It's as hard to sympathise much with Spotify or console gamers, and their self-inflicted first world problems but I do try. I mean, not hard, because first world problems and all that.
@Linus regarding painting your Motorcycle. Have you ever heard of "Lumilor"? It's paint that can light up. Can add a whole lot of safety. Might be something you wanna have a look at.
One idea that would be cool for the Reboot masters once you get the machines working try out the RTX video super resolution! Then we could see if it can scale up the master tapes to higher resolutions further increasing quality if it works well. Worth a try right?
1:39:58 I still remember a summer when I was a teenager, several fuzzy issues combined with a bad mood due to the pain. The doctor looked at my dad and was "Oh it's stress, lots of teens have it" It was the middle of summer vacation. Turns out it was a light case of food poisoning
I mean, I pay $30 whenever I see a doctor, but at least I can see a doctor easily. I would much rather pay that and be able to get my medical stuff handled quickly than wait weeks or months to get seen.
Opinion on the new channel video. 1. Personally id love if wasnt just powersupplies and was more a "tech spec" channel because this kind of info is exactly what i would want for all components that way i wasnt jumping between 3-6 different channels. 2. Agree speech cadence is off, but i am excited to see it improve. 3. Please add a F conversion to the video, i know its an american thing and the math isnt that hard but i can also see these videos being a great "audio book" style video while doing other things. 4. Glad to see you guys not being greedy and doing the needed work even if it doesnt pay the best Thanks LTT
See, this is why I support disabling automatic windows updates, and only installing select, specific, curated security updates that the user selected individually. Given the valid commentary about how 99% of users don't change settings, though, it should be the default setting that only security patches are installed, and all the rest of this crap is opt-in only.
I don't build computers, but I love tech. For me being able to pop onto YT or the website and find the information based on what my restrictions are is invaluable. Trying to find a new monitor has been difficult, I want to find a 1080p with the best colour accuracy and HDR as possible. Being able to have all that information in one place allows me to see what would fit within my budget or what ones to keep an eye on for sales.
I love the fact that you made this channel to understand a product before I buy it in video form. I have bad adhd and it's extremely hard to keep my attention when trying to read an article. If given an option to watch a video instead, I will always take that option.
Linux vs. Windows Test when? I honestly would love a vs of the Top Distros vs. the latest versions of Windows in Gaming & Software. Linux under Wine/Lutris/Proton, and so on. Head to head, including installation. Installing Windows vs. Installing Linux Mint, Ubuntu, MX Linux, and maybe other top Linux Distros, Arch? Lol Edit: Maybe even AMD Graphics Vs Nvidia on both as well!
@BurezFolfaus I have a feeling like Half Life 3, he is going to be waiting awile lol... I hope I am wrong and Steam OS will be released for Desktop systems. I wish they would make it that Windows Programs when clicked just open Steam or Wine.
Glad to see the results of the 3rd Party Investigation and that being made public. I would have not titled the WAN show like that since it seems a bit misleading since it is not talked about live for a very good reason so I do not see the need to attract viewers to the show based on that, just my opinion. For the power supply channel, I honestly think there can be money in a channel type of like that if you are able to get past the initial low amount of views. The example I like to give is Vacuum Wars and how I watch almost every video they put out even though I have no intention of purchasing or recommending a vacuum to anyone at this moment. Having a host that has some energy to them and making the content watchable and rewatchable will be key in my opinion. Like at this point where the channel is now I do not see why someone would watch the video at all instead of clicking the link in the description to go to the LABs page. Unless the entirety of the LABs page is paywalled and the only way to access this information for free is from the TH-cam channel I do not see how the channel will be successful. I appreciate what you are doing for the space and wish you all the best of luck but have a huge question about the viability of the current path taken.
As someone feeling pushed into that eco system what videos or sites would you recommend to a first time user to better prepare themselves to use that system?
Windows 8 is what caused me to switch, ages ago. I went ubuntu to arch, and now run Fedora Atomic. Running Fedora based Bazzite gaming distro on my desktop.
"reposnse"? who let metaphorical Elijah work on the merch message response banners?! (metaphorical because obviously real Elijah neither worked on this nor would make this mistake, it's just a meme.
I think the new channel is good. When I’m searching for a part or item that is the kind of info I want. But I also am to super lazy to read every detail and article to see if that one item is the one I want. Having the video give me the basics and let me then go to labs to dig further would be super helpful.
31:38 I agree with Luke that sometimes I just need to find one detail that I cannot depend on an article to cover, or that even a "Find" search on the page would have me looking through numerous instances of when it was mentioned. A lot of articles don't put a table of contents, so if this video has jump points - that COULD make it easer to get an answer you're looking for.
The issue with the Scarlett Johanson is that 1. they went to her first asking her to do it, she said no. 2. When they released the voice they tweeted it out saying only "her" implying that it is like Scarlett in the movie Her. It is clearly inspired by her possibley even using her voice to train and then pitch shifted. But the fact they went to her first and she said no, that puts them in hot water. Had they just went ahead and made it without her they would be safe. But they showed intent and then again implied it's meant to be her. And they know it is which is why they removed the voice.
1. Sky’s voice actress was already cast to do the voice before Scarlett was approached. 2. At no point was the Sky voice actress directed to or encouraged to sound like Scarlett.

8:00 I've seen it happen too often in professional work for big companies: It's likely straight up a different endpoint / service. Same database sure, but the chain of services and the query might not be the same. Could be coded by a different team/contractor, or the same team at vastly different time. Happens most often when you're not aware of every single controller and service that your app has.
I really don't like the AI voice. I'm sorry, but it's creepy. I get Labs is supposed to be informational, and not entertainment, but if I didn't know the info was from LTT, I would not trust the validity of the info based on the voice. There are so many low effort AI channels plaguing TH-cam at this point. I would probably rather go to the Labs website over watching a video like this. I really believe in Labs, so I hope you will consider a human for the voice even if the rest of the workflow is AI.
It's not going to happen, the only way the videos get made is with an AI voice. The videos will not make money and they cost money to make, even with all of the corner cutting. They are simply another way to get the same information that will be on the website.

the show starts on time and is not 4 hours long? I think we need a 3rd party investigation into the WAN show
What is missing from the power supply video is information about the noise, especially a noise/load-curve and noise characteristics.
The only reason I have ever returned a power supply (Corsair 1000W SFX) was because of horrible fan control, which was by far the loudest component at 40% PSU load and actually sounded broken at 60% load.

Gotta recommend BeQuiet!
@@vffa BeQuiet does not have any SFX PSUs above 600W. The only choice was Corsair or Asus, and the Asus one I have now is great.

The issue with the artificial voice is neither that it is too slow nor too fast - it’s that it doesn’t give the usual clues to what is important.
It’s an intonation problem. It’s difficult to pay attention to anything said.
Honestly I would never be able to get through it.
Pretty sure if it was info you're genuinely interested in that isn't available elsewhere youd get through it
Not to mention the blow to credibility and quality you take by deploying AI services.

I love that when Linus called Luke at the end, he immediately understood the assignment. 😂
You can always read the written post on the labs website
There's a youtube community post from a few days ago with the same content.
@@jonevansauthor It doesn't need to be just them, it can be their friends or acquaintances.
IN
asked...not arsed. Stop that shit
The fact that they specifically wanted scarjo to do the voice and then made a soundalike (even posting "her" on twitter") is a big problem for them
The voice doesn't stop for punctuation marks. It just steamrolls over them faster than it would to an ordinary new word within the sentence.
I grew up with ReBoot, and hearing you guys are putting in this kind of effort to save it in the original quality is incredible to me.
The Spotify Car Thing was never sold in the EU though, only the US. However my state we have nearly EU level warranty protections.
@@Seawolf.Gaming They probably saw the EU as a thread to their toxic business model. Well, good riddens from where I stand.

for the blood test thing, I work in the field and there's so many things that can give you a false-positive in a screening test, that's why there are confirmatory tests with higher effectiveness and you dont conclude based on initial results
lots of doctors are lazy and dont give a shit about patients unfortunately and they wont even know how some tests look for the anti-bodies, or for the antigens of a virus for example, it just depends on how the test is designed, let alone tell you the sensitivity or specificity stats of a test or things that might generate false-positives
I hate bad doctors so fucking much I share your rage from that story, now imagine living in a country that is experiencing brain drain and interacting with the doctors here
You got to test the tests test just to make sure

Cats and technology: my dad once built a catflap into the garage to put the litterbox there with a switch that would turn on the ventilation to remove the smell. Made a hole in the wall for it and all. Once it was complete the cats went in there ONCE and then never again. Apparently just the click of the sensor put them off. Tried several variations. In the end we closed up the hole in the wall and placed the litterbox underneath the stairs again. Cat - us 1 - 0.

Also, as an American nurse, you're exactly 1,000% correct about our healthcare system.
no, he's not. physician salaries account for 8% of medical costs in the US, so how exactly does that lead to our astronomical per Capita costs?
@@hypercringenemia I don't think he said salaries was the cause. He said that the US pays doctors more, and that the for profit care system that allowed that predatory behaviour was the issue.
@@pjp_renaissance he literally said that the US was a brain drain on Canada because of the high salaries, which results in high prices

Next time you switch put the focus on the Desktop environment instead of distros. I'd love if you guys compare Gnome, KDE, Cinnamon and COSMIC.

Spotify story: This feels like an always online video game being taken down. Hell even pricing is about the same. Is it horrible? yes. is it surprising? no. If buying is not owning piracy is not theft.
Strawman
@oxfordsparky i half agree with you because in spotify story:
You bought hardware ,a physical thing unlike in video games where its completely software
However, I don't think it's a strawman. @unpronouncable2442 is drawing an analogy about digital ownership between Spotify and online games. The point about piracy is a philosophical take on not owning digital purchases, not a misrepresentation of someone else's argument.
Copyright violations have never been theft, this has been explicitly stated by US courts.

What is wrong with the "response" image on the bottom? Missing image... Misspelling "resposnse"... Driving me insane 😂

I think the new channel is good. When I’m searching for a part or item that is the kind of info I want.

The issue with the Scarlett Johanson is that
1. they went to her first asking her to do it, she said no.
This is 100% the problem and it isn't a good look at all
They also asked her again 2 days before the announcement. They were ready to announce it as an official collab...

It's not going to happen, the only way the videos get made is with an AI voice.
The videos will not make money and they cost money to make, even with all of the corner cutting. They are simply another way to get the same information that will be on the website.
