  • Freewing F/A-18 Hornet High Performance 64mm EDF 4S powered review of assembly, flight performance and landings. This is a better than average RC Plane /EDF and worth the $150 I spent.

    Great review! I like the poly idea and sealing the nozzle gap. Nice flying Will. You're smooth and steady. These small EDF's are a blast.

      Thats really odd.. Not sure why thats the case. I've watched it several times from TH-cam to make sure its working and no issues... Maybe thats the reason I don't have 5k in views and 500 more subs.. :-). I've really enjoyed this plane.. I'll always have one of these 64mm's in the hanger..

    I have one and love it - but took the landing gear off so I could hand launch it as we have a grass only flying field - I do love the way they fly - I also use 30% expo, slow and on the wing is such great fun, and then open her up and you get good performance along with reasonable flying time - enjoyed your review.. thanks

      Appreciate the comments. I watched and enjoyed your flights of her too.

    Been thinking about getting into 4s EDF jets. I certainly have enough batteries.

      Well Bill, this is a cool EDF, but honestly the performance isn’t what I hoped for. I could drop the gear and shed a little weight and increase performance, but I really like touch and go’s…. Thanks for watching.

    Take a look at SMC 2800 4S, high voltage 4.35v. Same weight as 4s 2200. You get 5-6 minutes flight time and better performance with higher voltage lipo pack.

      I do need to take a look at these batteries. They could turn this so-so plane into something a little more...... Thanks for the tip.

    Great video. Sorry if I missed it, But what size 4s did you use. Also, did the Power Combo have decent power. THANKS

      I’m using a 2200 50c. The power is ok. Not unlimited vertical, but a fun plane to cruise around. It could use a bit more speed for sure…. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Will

    Would it be a good first jet?

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Blake, I don't think it's a good first jet. It flies well, looks great and affordable, but I think the Eflite Habu is a better 1st jet. Both sizes are really fun and easy to fly.. In Safe-On, you can cruise around at moderate speeds and keep out of trouble. "Safe off" and its an aerobatic, fun stable jet that will help you acclimate to the faster 6S jets out there... Good luck.. - Will

    can you fit 4s 3000 in this jet?

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think it will fit, but also this plane would suffer with the extra weight. She’s a little under powered. Fun plane though.

      @@SteffenRC found lots of guys on here use 4s 3300??

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@43rocket probably true. My experience is it’s a bit under powered and the additional weight will reduce performance. I fly for 3:30-4min and that usually fine for me. If you make it a belly lander and remove the landing gear, that will offset the extra battery weight.

      @@SteffenRC would I need to move this 3000 to back of jet then?

    • @SteffenRC
      @SteffenRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@43rocket well, the battery placement really depends on hitting the CG correctly. 4s 3000’s come in lots of shapes and weights. You’ll need to figure that out when you setup the plane.
