    I spent 100% of my life paying attention to others, often without realising and mostly unintentionally. Apparently my personality type is INFJ. I think Sociology is definitely for me. I think I'm going to dig it, lol. I work with excellence only when I know what I'm doing, I like it, and I have a goal.
    Edit: I also can't watch the news, I mean I don't want to. It's overwhelming because I'm an INFJ. But I think Sociology is a good way to still learn and be more conscious instead of getting smacked hard by news on TV (because it's sudden, random, and not progressive). Idk if I made sense but yeah.
    Edit: I chose Sociology as my Major and I'm going to start Uni soon. UwU

      I don't really understand why psychology and sociology requires to be socialist, I mean, I don't really care about an specific individual feels about its own problems, but at the same time I like to study this behavior, I like to learn how this system works and how its applied in society, like cultures, and what experiences make us unique, but not to be mean, I just want to learn and not pretend am interested in somebody else problems when am not, I really like it but am so introvert and analitic, I just want to observe but no connect, and thats so frustrating, I want to do something that I can't do :(

      Mini T hi!! whoever is telling you that is SORELY mistaken and i’m very sorry it’s stressing you. sociology is one of the most versatile majors, because you get the opportunity to learn a wide range of issues plaguing societies! keep in mind too, that a LOT of people do not go into the field they majored in. just bc you major in sociology does not mean u have to be a sociologist. so why not take the time in college to do something YOU LOVE!! forget what other people say. and you will come to learn in the major it’s a very marketable degree because you can apply it to any sector of society. if you need help coming up with ideas let me know! i’m considering many different career paths bc sociology is so versatile! and it will set you apart from other competition in the field. good luck 🤩

    • @CarolannJane

      Mini T that’s a really amazing idea!!! sociology would work super well in that field. most social workers majored in sociology! in my sociology classes we also talk a lot about psychology and rehabilitation. you could definitely pair art and soc together to make you a qualified candidate. i’ve been at some different mental health/behavioral hospitals that offer art therapy and ur right it’s a growing demand for more people in the therapy field!

    I do have a question, how do you improve complex writing skills? I don't have any trouble when it comes to reading, analyzing, or critical thinking. However, I do find myself struggling to write and explain topics. I'm not a horrible writer, but I would say there is a need for improvement. Especially if I do wish to major in Sociology where I would have to write tons of pages for researches/projects. Once again, excellent job on the video! I really appreciate it a lot!!

    I'm SO late but would a double major in history and sociology be a good idea? I love history first and foremost but the reason I love it is because I love studying how people interact with each other and how to approach things in future. I also love so many topics and I've gone from nursing to poli sci to geology and I just figured that I love history so much that I might as well go for that but I think a sociology/history double major would give me a well rounded viewpoint on the injustices of the past. I think it would help me understand how we can use history to under how people interact now or even in the future and just in general give me a better understanding of the past

    I want to say something about going to college to better your life. I have not one but two college degrees and work as a Security Guard patrolling floors. A degree is not needed to be a guard.
    Look Here:
    1. Sociology B. A. (Lehman College)
    2. Liberal Arts & Sciences A. A. (City Tech)
    All this academic training for nothing. I'm not knocking education and college. For example, if you like Sociology, don't stop at the four-year degree level. Sociology can lead to a decent job if you earn a Master's Degree or beyond. Otherwise, you are truly wasting your time and money. I hope this helps.

    • @CarolannJane
      @CarolannJane  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i agree that college is not for everyone and is not always the best or most cost-efficient path. however, that is not what this video is about or who this video is for. this is for people already majoring in sociology or who want to major in sociology. each person's situation is very different and unique, you can't make a blanket statement that otherwise it is a waste of time or money. it also depends on how you use your time in undergrad to maximize your resume and portfolio, so again it's not always a waste of time and deterring people because of just your individual experience might be doing someone a disservice!

    Is it me or do most sociology majors tend out to be women? Is it me or do many engineers tend out to be men?

    • @CarolannJane
      @CarolannJane  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol interesting observation! i think it would make sense as women have been socialized in a society to be more emotional and empathic and i think sociology definitely requires one to have that kind of quality or characteristic to be successful

      . It's more a biological thing, than a cultural one.
      It's demostrated that man and women brains work differently, as the first ones have a more rational intelligence and the second an emotional intelligence, because of different levels of testosterone and extrogen.
      Btw that's make sense in and old social environment, where the man go hunt and the woman stays home raising childrens. In today society we don't need that (debatable), but we still have that aspect that differentiate both sexes, because society has changed too fast to lead also a biological change.

      Eric Ancuta i’m sorry you’ve been raised to think that, but it’s very wrong. any differences in subject preference are due to social conditioning. it’s no surprise you have the impression male and female brains have different skills, as gender roles have been enforced for thousands of years and are just being rejected today. i hope you open your mind and realize how deeply these social norms have affected you.

    Is it true that it is one of the easiest majors to study?

    • @CarolannJane
      @CarolannJane  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sah Kouyaté i wouldn’t say its “easy” because it really depends on how your brain works. for example i was talking to a student at the STEM college next to us and he told me writing anything is really difficult and challenging for him. he would suffer in my major because all we do is write paper after paper. but if you have a social science brain then it could be quite easy! it really depends on your own skills and what you bring to the table. i would not say that my major, even though my brain is oriented this way, is easy. it’s taken me a lot of hard work!

    I am in my second year in college and I change my major to Sociology. The porblem is that people are telling my that is not going to get a job so I real need this. I also in thinking in minor in Psychology and wanted to know will this work for sociology?

    • @CarolannJane
      @CarolannJane  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sociology is very versatile and your major is not the most important thing for getting a job. There are many other factors that are important for getting a job. Psychology pairs very well with sociology as well! I think that is a great idea.

      @@jazminreyes2813 there are so many jobs, you can be a social worker either in or out of schools and any job that requires psych also accepts social science majors as a (related field). Good luck! If you enjoy it go for it, SOC 100 atleast for me displayed what jobs you can get with a degree in Sociology.

    • @CarolannJane
      @CarolannJane  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ???? first of all, don't shame people who work at the moving theater. there is nothing shameful about working class jobs. period. they do honorable work and if you're not willing to do it yourself but still demand the service then gtfo. and finally, there is valuable education in sociology. clearly you're a troll, but for anyone reading this comment who gets deterred by this comment: DON'T BE. there is IMPORTANT WORK being done in sociology and the fields related. period again.

    Is sociology an easy degree ?

    • @CarolannJane
      @CarolannJane  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      it really depends! if you are strong at writing, critical thinking, reading comprehension, and research skills then it can be fairly easy! i know many people though that are much more math/science oriented and find sociology difficult because of the massive amounts of writing it requires. overall, whatever major you are going to bit all takes work and perseverance but if i had to sum it down for me it is not too difficult given my similar skill sets to the major.

      Depends on the school and if you are taking Physical or Online. I am currently a junior in Sociology-Deviance but I take it 100% online. My papers are about 2-3 pages plus works cited, plus discussion board with topics such as "would the events of The Purge reduce violence, why or why not?". I love Sociology-Deviance and it is so diverse!
