    👌 Jet washing and full chemical deep cleaning to a tired crazy paved driveway. How to clean a driveway.
    👍 Satisfying cleaning video - Pressure washing ASMR, POV cleaning.
    Power washing with chemical (sodium hypochlorite) post treat with the X Jet M5
    Crazy paving was a massive fad during the 1970's with its unique pattern of mismatched shapes and random colours.
    ⭐️ This driveway had been left uncleaned for many years. It has started looking very tired and dirty. The trouble with crazy paving is usually the mortar joints are past their best and have started to break away. This leads to moss and weed growth and crumbling cement. It's best to clean these areas with lower pressure to avoid damage. The use of a chemical (sodium hypochlorite) can really lift out ingrained dirt enabling the use of lower pressure, thus reducing the risk of damage.
    🧰 Equipment used in this video 🧰
    X Jet M5 chemical applicator nozzle - Quick application of sodium hypochlorite solutions.
    New rotary nozzle - Super special nozzle not commonly available yet.

      I'm using a new twin jet rotary nozzle in this video. It's a lot less aggressive than singles and cleans really fast, probably as good as the falch but at much lower RPM on the motor. Got to save fuel in these hard times lol. The mortar was a bit iffy so I opted not to use the FSC as there may have been risk of damage. I'm using bear grylls video glasses, they the only ones I've tried that actual shoot 1080p. I've tried Chinese ones are they are tut. Gotta get the wrist action right 😅

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's gone up silly amount hasn't it. mines jumped nearly 50% in a year. I use 3:1 mix so 25% hypo to 75% water for general deep cleaning. You could possibly go slightly less maybe 4:1 but anything weaker and i don't think it would do much in the short space of time its usually down for. phill

    Hey Phil, Hear people say on the forums that pressure washing is relaxing? Surely it's pretty hard graft isn't it as there's plenty of sweeping up the slop involved as well as working a lance for hours at a time must surely cause ware & tear on the old limbs?

    Hi Phil, what do you do with the dirt on the pathway and do you just wash the chem down the drain?

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  ปีที่แล้ว

      The dirt gets rinsed to the drain. In the case of block pave or heavy weeds/moss, then it's scrapped up and taken away. Chem is just rinsed to a drain, the water dilutes it, and sodium hypochlorite is commonly used around the home, which gets washed down the drain/toilet, etc.

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only clean what the customer asks me to clean. If they don't want the walls doing then that's up to them. The wall tops belonged to the neighbour and the customer wasn't fussed about the walls being done.

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very hard at the moment as there seems to be a massive supply issue, combine that with the huge increase in price over the last 12 months. Some people use bonnymans online but even then I think they aren't holding stock. Due to the supply issues any local pool chem firms have hiked the price right up. I've seen drums of hypo for in excess of £60. It's the shipping that pumps the price up as its a hazardous material and needs to go special courier. If you can try and find a local supplier where you can collect. Just make sure it's fresh stuff otherwise it won't work very well.

    • @baldy8107
      @baldy8107 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DirtyDriveAway thanks Phil, how do I tell if it’s a fresh batch?

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@baldy8107 not easy, I mean if the company sells a lot it will be fresh but I've tried some of the ebay stuff and it's been watered down. I have a SH test kit that I use if I've had some for a while. I can then guage how much I can dilute by. SH has a half life of 3-6months depending how its stored.

    They say you should re-sand drives after PRESSURE washing if they are drives with sand in between the bricks. Is that true? And if so, do you also have to re-sand after doing a SOFT wash on a driveway that has sand in between the bricks

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes block pave driveways have fine sand between the joints that gets washed out when pressure cleaning. Soft wash does sod all to block paving as it won't remove moss and weeds from the joints.

    • @jman5434
      @jman5434 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DirtyDriveAway Thanks. But what if the block paved driveway had no moss, no weeds growing out of it and was not too dirty, would a soft wash with chemicals clean it sufficiently? And if so, would the sand wash out of the joints from a soft wash in the same way sand washes out after doing a pressure wash?

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jman5434 you won't loose as much. I mean even with a softwash your supposed to give it a good rinse down otherwise the dirt just sits on the blocks and looks patchy. You would be OK to not re sand if soft washing.

    People seem to have different views regarding surface cleaners. It seems a big clumsy bit of kit to carry in an average sized van. Could you happily go through the season without using it Phil? ...or maybe some jobs are cut in half with its speed and efficiency? Also does having a boiler set-up make a surface cleaner any more useful say for Indian sandstone etc..?

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Boilers only really good if you actually need hot water. All my jobs are domestic and I don't need it. Plus the fact a boiler for my machine is about £3500 plus fitting, then additional running costs. FSC's are useful but yes quite big, they are much quicker than a conventional lance if used properly.
