- With the Splatoon 3 Grand Festival Splatfest almost upon us, many Splatoon fans within the community are hyped. From the official social media posts and marketing all the way to the wonderful trailer and Three Wishes music video, this final Splatfest truly feels like a proper send off to this era of the franchise. Given the sheer amount of speculation, theories and discussions surrounding the potential winning team along with the influence they can have on Splatoon 4 or future DLC Expansion pass/waves, I've come up with a few ideas and predictions on the possible outcomes regarding the victory of Team Past, Team Present and Team Future. Expect another Splatoon 3 video soon.

The art featured in the thumbnail was made by P.rat (prat_rat) on Twitter/X. They make some of the best Splatoon art pieces I've ever seen and I highly recommend checking it out. They put tons of love, care and attention within each artwork and I'm sure you'll be a fan as well. Considering supporting their art!

Even though a Great Turf War theme would be great, I'm moreso hoping that we'll get an Octarian Underground side of Splatoon 1.
@@R4TS_KZZK Oooo that's an excellent idea! Now that would truly be awesome to see since the developers have never explored that option before.
Hopefully, Splatoon 1 Remastered...
@@James-g7z8f Hoping for this, never got to experience the great beauty that is Splatoon 1 for the WiiU 😔
@@James-g7z8f That would be perfect for the 10 year anniversary
@@DecadoPrime one problem with that is even if we get the spatoon 1 story mode remaster what else are we gonna do
I think regardless of which team wins, we’re going to see an entirely new setting. Like a new country that’s outside of what we currently know about the map, which is implied to be on the landmass where Japan used to be. I’d love to see more countries in the Splatoon world!
@@Corgipon That's what I'm hoping for in order to expand the world and offer new, limitless ideas and possibilities
@@DecadoPrime exactly! I’d love to see them pull a Pokemon and make new regions based on other countries.
@Corgipon Yes I'd love that too! Whenever Pokémon did it, we get so many cool locations to explore so Splatoon should definitely take some inspiration from the concept and apply it for future entries
I think this will be fhe case too!
@@RadiantBlazeVA Me too
these ideas are really cool!! i can’t wait to see whatever happens in the next game depending on who wins
@@sharky_xanderrrr Thank you Sharky! I know many of them are from my original DLC ideas video, but the concepts were just too good to ignore. Plus, it gave me a chance to flesh them out more and update them. Regardless, I wish you and you're team the best of luck and hope you enjoy the event!
@@DecadoPrime yeah i understand! and thank you so much! i hope you enjoy it too!!
@@sharky_xanderrrr Thank you! This will truly be the best Splatfest ever!
I have a distinct feeling that team Present might win by sheer numbers, but I’m happy with whatever team wins. Whatever they do next it’s gonna be wild. They did so much lore in this game that something really cool is probably coming next, whoever wins :)
@@Snofia565 Facts. I'm excited for the future of the series and can't wait to see what the developers have planned for the next entry
Easily my new favorite video from you so far this year! Love how you put the animated 2D portions as the transition slides. Excellent touch. These ideas are pretty good for Splatoon 4 so here's hoping one of them comes true. Even though I am choosing Team Past for the event, just wanna tell you good luck
@@jeffcapri313 Thank you for the kind words! When I first saw that footage in the trailer, I immediately knew I had to use it for this video. I'm glad you liked it along with the ideas I presented. This video took awhile to produce so it brings a smile to my face hearing these kind words. Btw, cool choice for your team and hope you enjoy the event!
Amazing! Inkredible editing and ideas!
@@nickstein8552 Thank you for the kind words!
Hopefully Splatoon 4 will come in the future, if who ever wins the Grand Festival. I love to play Splatoon 3 again sense 2023 and 2024 I haven’t grind a lot at all. So, hope I am back to Splatoon 3 by 2025 in peace.
@@sawsandra_ I too am looking forward to Splatoon 4 and good luck on getting to play more Splatoon 3!
If future wins the next splatoon should be called Splatoon 2077
(Just kidding :> )
@crazycatcrazycat8186 hehe good comment you made

We won't be seeing John Splatterhands 😔
Okay this might be a stretch but Present could totally have a time travel gimmick.
Hear me out, the thing with Past and Future is that both focus on only one point in time, however Present is in a interesting spot where they influence the future and are shaped by the past, and thus have infinite potential. Time travel as a theme will be very fitting for this festival, but will not work nearly as well with either future or past since both are very focused on one end of the timeline. Present allows for potential to be all across the timeline to save the present day.
Gameplay wise I am thinking something similar to the time travel level of Titanfall 2, where you could jump in time to solve puzzles in the same environment, just in a different time.
Perhaps the villain of the campaign went to the past for their agenda, and when we go back to fix it and plan to return to the original time, we go overboard and go far into the future, then returning to the present, a moment of infinite potential, to save the world!
That would be so awesome and totally incorporate the themes of cherishing the present and also incorporate themes of time and the other teams as well.
Aesthetically the square can almost be like the standard splat 2 and 3 square, but maybe after the campaign it morphs!!!
@gameralica I never thought of it that way, but after reading your explanation this would be the perfect route to take as your given more freedom to jump between each time period with ease. Plus each era does technically get represented which is all I could ever ask for. I like the callback to Titanfall 2 as it would definitely spice up the gameplay
I would always say:
If past wins: The next game will take place will be during the Great Turf War
If present wins: We stick with the Squidbeak Splatoon story
If future wins: We start a new story with new characters
Except you said my ideas and even mine about if present wins, it could be a salmoid story mode( with mine being Splatsville losing a Big Run and the plot is being thief’s and stealing back Splatville with Deep Cut)
@@jackclancy5529 Cool that we had similar ideas. Although I like your Deep Cut idea a lot as it fits with the characters
A Team Past win could also explore the origins of Kamabo Co, Alterna in its prime, and a proper background on the Professor.
@@NintenDan.2005 Really good ideas you put here!
@@DecadoPrime Thanks! Team Past FTW!
@@NintenDan.2005 Good luck to your team!
Whatever the outcome, Deep Cut will most likely be in Splatoon 4. Remember the Shiver vs Frye vs Big Man splatfest? Shiver won, meaning there's a big chance that Deep Cut will be in the next Splatoon game.
@fiercedeitymidna5781 I do hope they return as there's plenty of options the developers can take when it comes to making a story campaign featuring them.
If team future wins I think they might add many more weapon classes and new specials as it could take place hundreds of years in the future
@@YOUDONOTKNOWME999 Hopefully they give them a futuristic look
@@DecadoPrime I was thinking maybe gloves/gauntlets and a laser
@@YOUDONOTKNOWME999 That's exactly what I want
@@DecadoPrime if that happens someones gonna make a super laser piss joke with yellow ink
@@TCK7890 For sure. I wouldn't be surprised if that does happen
Team Past:
Splatoon 1 remake
Past aesthetic
Great Turf War spinoff
Too much nostalgia
Team Present:
Similar aesthetic
Deep Cut DLC
Splatoon 4
Too safe an option
Team Future (My Team):
Futuristic aesthetic
Slightly risky, as it could be too ambitious/have rushed development, but could attract a new group of players and breathe life into the franchise for years to come
Soft reboots
Splatoon: Urban Pursuit (my idea for the spinoff)
2-player local or online multiplayer (for the campaign, no battles), fully focused on story
Spinoff, happens 20 years post-Grand Festival
As the world of the Inklings keeps moving into the future, nothing can stop the constant cycle of creation as the Inkling society keeps advancing. All of the previous idol groups have moved on from music, every weapon is essentially redesigned from the ground up, and even those who wanted change are changing themselves, defecting to the side of order. It's your job to stop them. Prowl new renditions of cities you know and love, using your weapons to catch these rebels and pull off some epic stunts. This game introduces more combat elements to the franchise.
Eventually, you end up defecting to their side and the final boss is the one man who started all of this rapid change and reliance on technology: Glen Fiddler. Honestly, I think that this is the only way that he could be introduced as an ACTUAL villain. I'm saving Lil' Judd and the Marigolds for Splatoon 4.
@CorviKid999 Overall solid ideas and I like how you brought up the pros and cons of each option. For me I still want Team Future to win, but honestly each team has great potential
Team present because of DLC I want a past and future DLC so bad and the base game to be normal Splatoon
@@Max_Pikmin That would be awesome if it does happen
3 dlc for Splatoon 3?
@@Unexpectedzoomer8 Yes. I'd love it as it fits the whole 3 theming the game encompasses
I planned on making a video of my own this topic but I ended up going way too into detail with it so I wouldn't have been able to finish it in time lol. My general thoughts are that no matter who ends up winning, we'll be going to a completely new location in the next entry rather than be in what is implied to be Splatoon's version of Japan that we see with the previous titles. My guesses for location where:
Team Past: Hawai'i (very closely tied to Japan and has culture based around tradition)
Team Present: NYC (Bustling city that's always on the move and is in constant change)
Team Future: Futuristic landscape with no one particular culture it takes cues from
I also think we'll see 4 idols, either all together as one group of as two sets of duos.
Story mode wise, my thoughts were that the main campaign will focus mainly on the stuff alluded to in Splat 3's campaign, with the cloning and Li'l Judd. Then we'll see two story mode campaigns based on the losing teams. The Great Turf War makes sense for Past but it could also be more stuff on humans the Professor perhaps. P
With present, if you've ever played Xenoblade Chronicles 3, I think a lighter version of what that game's plotline would make for a very good story based around the Present. Stopping the Endless Now so you can pursue your future. For Future, I think I can see a villain who thinks the future is doomed for one reason or another and tries to change aspects of the present for the worse in their idea of "fixing" it, but the ultimate conclusion is that the future is ours to make, no one elses.
Long winded comment sorry, but I love speculating about stuff like this!
@RadiantBlazeVA Nah don't be sorry. I love hearing everyone's ideas and boi are these amazing. I love the locations you chose for eacb team, especially Team Past since I love Hawaii. I could definitely see us getting 4 idol members and the idea of them being separated in 2 groups is a unique approach. Maybe we could have a split campaign focused on each one. Either way these are some cool ideas and keel up the good work!
The future villain idea just sounds like Chairman Rose from Pokemon Sword
@@CorviKid999 I'll admit he was a bit of an inspiration lol
all i want is a rhythm game spinoff. i want to be in a splatband
@glowstickspinalfluid I want that too. I make that prediction in my prevoius video, but I'd like for it to be inspired by the Hatsune Miku games
@@DecadoPrime and i said in the previous video that a dlc with squid beats might be better

@willoesd2449 Hope you enjoyed it! The artist who made it is in the description. I highly recommend checking it out and supporting their work!
if present wins, we get to permanently live in the now. so no more splatoon games, ever.
@JustAGoomba Oof that would suck unless Splatoon 3 continues to get support through DLC waves
i reallt do not think theyre doing a timeskip, it being in the same time as the real world, following changes in our culture, is pretty important to the franchise
@Lucassaur0 Yeah that is ultimately what the developers would likely stick with
@@DecadoPrime I really hope they do, there was mention somewhere in an official source of a secondary theming for each of these groups, past being harmony, present being destruction and future being rebirth and I think this is what they mean by past present and future
@Lucassaur0 Now those are the type of hidden details I like. Personally, I always viewed the theming as encompassing the whole series. Sorry for the shameless plug, but I made a video describing how Splatoon 3 brought back tons of past elements into the present and were going to use the new innovations to bring forth a new future for the series
Totally off the mark, people. The question they posed isn't a "Hey what time is cooler". It's a "What do you rely on for growth".
@@andreaquadrati You right
Or my movie could be if Team Past wins (& I hope it does).
@jamiegameplaythrough9485 True. Your ideas are excellent and good luck on the event. While I'm on Team Future, I cannot deny how amazing the Squid Sisters are, especially in their new outfits.
@@DecadoPrime wooooooooooooooooooo you made up your mind finally
This is strange, but I don't know if splatoon 3 has changed🤔 Have anyone noticed about the game? And what has Nintendo been doing? Like may in this year the seasons came and the grand festival came early in splatoon 3?🤔
@@wintercj Yeah I've noticed that too
@@DecadoPrime Splatoon 3 is not the same, but now, I wonder if there's something hidden in splatoon 3🤔
@@wintercj I'm still hoping we get more DLC for Splatoon 3 to explore untapped ideas like with Deep Cut's family clans
@DecadoPrime That would be interesting, but I don't know if they'll do that. It may be a disappointment that we didn't get Wave 3 and Wave 4, but I would rather not get mad about it. What if salmon run have its own splatoon spin-off as a new splatoon spin-off game.
@@DecadoPrime Have you already chosen a team?
Not gonna lie, I really want to know what will become of Salmon Run, sooner or later, the war between Inklings/Octolings and Salmonids must end, so no point on keeping it, kinda sad that the only multiplayer mode I'm good at it (Splatoon speaking) has to dissapear because of story reasons.
@@megabeynic2659 I'd like to know. I'm positive they'll keep the mode around. If not with Salmonids then probably another species to take their place
Hey, do you know where you got the picture for the video pin art with Shiver?

Thought it was JT for a second there. Ouch.
i feel like the only reason why team present is "winning" is because of the idols linked to it, if that didn't happen then it'll onlt be teams future/past that would be in the lead
