There was a time where youtube algorithm was great, showing many channel and songs that I like, it shown your channel, and that was how I know "post rock". I was attracted by the "We Lost The Sea - Departure Songs", I was rushing my works late night, but I just cant help to stop and really listen to it and read the comment. And that was the moment that I realize music without lyric can still have the power and emotion to convey through your heart

TH-cam algorithm used to be great.
Now it does nothing but spam me with andrew tate and jesus freak videos

      Absolutely, very well put.
The algorithm has gotten terrible recently. It keeps recommending me stuff I don't care about, or that I've already seen :/ And yes, post rock is absolutely great for background music while working :)

i honestly think there is nothng that matches the sheer intensity of departure songs, except some of gybe's albums. i'm always moved to tears halfway through it, the last dive of david shaw does it for me. cathartic album.

Lyrics may be a bit freer in their use of language than prose, but they still are bound to the rules of dictionaries. Instrumental music is pure vibrations, it conveys emotion in a similar way shapes and colors do.

Departure Songs is a great intro... I had been listening to post-rock for decades when it came out but it still holds a very special place in my heart.

Thank you for this playlist, it's such a great selection !!
I would have added one of Mono's song (because they are the best !!). My first post-rock albums were Departure songs (We lost the sea) and How Lonely Sits the City (The Ascent of Everest) and god, that was the best day of my life. It was exactly what I needed at this time. Yndi Halda (especially Enjoy eternal Bliss) was also one of the greatest music in my whole life.
Thank you so much for all your playlist !

That's funny - my first post-rock album was Departure Songs (Hammock). Both Departure Songs albums are great. I use "A Gallant Gentleman" as my morning alarm, because it starts off slow and quiet, but I will DEFINITELY not sleep through the second half the piece!

God Is An Astronaut (GIAA), pg.lost, Oh Hiroshima and Sleepmakeswaves were the bands that got me free falling into the rabbit hole of Post Rock.
I recommend checking them out for those who want to hear more. You won't be disappointed!

Don't get me wrong - I like this music. It's evocative, beautiful, emotional music. But I don't think I would call it "post-rock". It's not experimental enough for that. It's mostly 4/4, minor key, standard harmony, standard chord progressions. To me, post-rock is, like, some of Gastr Del Sol's music, Brise-Glace, Slint, Don Caballero, Battles, maybe some of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Xiu Xiu, Hella, Lightning Bolt, Wolf Eyes, Orthrelm, maybe Boredoms, Hanatarash, Melt Banana... Oh! and especially You! Fantastic. You know, stuff that's so abrasive and bizarre and weird that it's hard to categorize as rock music.
