Thanks for including my game the Trial of Kharzoid! The footage is from a really old demo, I solved a lot of the slowdown problem and the skull is moving way faster now. The other games look great too! 2024 will be an awesome year for homebrew NES game lovers.
It's great what you're doing. Keep up your great work!
Is the Trial of Kharzoid finished ROM going to be compatible with the oryNES paddle controller that was bundled with Arkanoid? If not could you please at least think about it for a future update or sequel?
@@CannabisKiddThe problem is that I use more than one paddle, sometimes up to 5 paddles in one level! It would be impossible to control them with a single arkanoid controller. And I use all 4 buttons, and the special controller only has one. So I decided not to support it. I really tried to come up with solutions! Even creating a custom controller! But I'm just a lone small indie game dev, it was becoming too much of a project. But I will work hard to make it fun to play with a regular NES controller. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks!@@RlsIII-uz1kl
@@pacerush you should hook up with Brian at B.D. Retro Mods! In my opinion he's the Donatello of custom video game controllers, I bet if you sent him a copy of your game and asked him he could build your game it's own controller! I love homebrew games that use special controllers like Paddles and Light Guns. Keep up the great work! I am an administrator for Retro Bliss Gaming and we would love to showcase your game with you in the chat giving us tips and tricks for your game sometime. I'm sending Retro Bliss Gaming your game demo today! Check out Retro Bliss Gaming on TH-cam!
Thanks for featuring our game Steel Legion! It means a lot to us to be featured along with so many other cool games and dedicated creators. Stay tuned for our Kickstarter campaign for the physical release of Steel Legion in just a few months!
Looking forward to it! Love the game!
Awesome game guys ❤
@@stankozniewski9385 Thank you! Glad you liked it :)
Man there are some cool NES games coming out. I never expected we'd be getting ones like this through 2024. It's nice to see the interest hasn't faded.
Some great games listed!
Thanks! Still need to try Chew Chew Mimic! I've heard its pretty darn good!
Get better at China Warrior RIggs!
Awesome video! These are definitely great times to be a NES fan with so many amazing new titles coming up. Thank you very much for having our Sam in your list! :-)
Sam is fantastic! Thank you for creating it on NES!
I love storied sword and all the princess bride references. can't miss that Andre the giant boss fight!
Man of culture
Came to the comments just to see this! 😂
Had a NES when it was "new" and only just rediscovering some of the games together with my kids. It was fascinating to find out that there's still development going on for the shoebox, and not even just your average 2D Jump 'n Run game. Thank you for compiling this helpful list of new games to investigate @TheGameBeaters !
Man, listen to those songs!! These games have such amazing soundtracks!! Just listen to how great they sound!!
Thanks for showcasing the music and sounds. Sounds sooooo good 😅
Pretty great right? Lol
Hey man love your videos! Keep up the awesome work, especially the stuff you’re putting out there with the homebrew scene! But not trying to nitpick but just an FYI. In your chapters you have The Storied Sword labeled as The Storage Sword.
Appreciate it and the suggestion. I looked into it and it’s something TH-cam did and I’m not sure how to update it.
"Manic mansion meets earthbound" I had the EXACT same vibe before you mentioned it
how do you play these new nes games? do you use an emulator ? or is there a way to upload the software on a cartridge and play on an actual console?
Awesome video and a few I didn't know about here, just wish the gameplay volume was louder.
Noted! It can be hard to find the right balance. Will work on that in the future. Thanks
@@TheGameBeaters with my phone volume on max, you can just hear it. I haven't noticed this in previous videos.
I actually thought the games were all on mute until i saw this comment. This is literally my only complaint. Great video, these games all look great!
@@TheGameBeaters
i've never heard the term, "bullet hell shooter" before. Perfect description :) all of these games look fun.
Thanks Joe. The name makes perfect sense once you see it. Lol. Glad you enjoyed the vid.
NES Hype!
Always!
Can’t wait for Kingdom Crisis and Sam’s Journey! Are those coming out on physical cartridges?
Sam is, not sure about Kingdom.
Is there a way to make suggestions for game ideas with developers? I like to play some kind of strategy games like Axis and Allies, Risk, and Space Empires 4x. I have several ideas that i like to see if they can be made into Video games
The best advice I can give when it comes to this is to either reach out to a few devs or have a look at NES Maker which is way to get into making your own games.
Anyone know what the game was in the intro? Not Pelusas Saga or Shera and the 40 thieves. But the shooter at the very beginning and the platformer right before Pelusa. Was that also Pelusas Saga? I haven’t played through it yet so I wasn’t really sure. Thanks
Chaos between realms and Cat Venture I believe are the titles.
someday ill get into all of these, just still playing the games from back in fhe day, naked
Naked is the preferred way NES gamers play.
Do people play with clothes on? Like pants? What, are we like going for a hike or something after or having a dinner party? Pfffft.
@@jimjilliker2890 I HEAR YA!!!! THANK U!!!!
what was the hacker game in the outtro?
The Storied Sword is TOTALLY The Princess Bride!
The trinitron filter on your pocket dock does a lot for the video quality here, dang.
You like it? Thanks for watching!
Orange Island and Piopow should be out this year sometime I hope.
For those asking about the game with the cat, that would be Catventure: The Red Cat Quest.
What I want to know is what the game at 0:44 is.
Thanks for the help. The game in question is called Super Sunny World.
This is 🔥
Thank you!
What can you say about the game "Catventure: The red cat quest"? The video shows the game but doesn't say anything about it))) Thanks for the video review, cool selection of games!)
Its a fun one! Played through the whole demo and had a blast. Looking forward to the finished game.
Is it just me or does the protagonist in The Storage Sword look like Westley and one of the bosses Fezzik the giant from the Rob Reiner film The Princess Bride?
I think you are correct.
I always knew that those systems back in the day had some more to show, the companies didn't dried them out good enough as we can see here! I do however know as well that in some cartridges they can enhance them with extra chip power those years which wasn't possible back in the day due to nintendo's tight ass way of thinking, suppressing the developers even back then to be more creative! That's why also not many releases saw the light of day to other regions besides japan etc! One of the consoles you can say was gone to its limit was snes, with games like donkey kong country in the end of its circle! The thing is though that they could made even better arcade ports those years but the costs would be too risky & high for the companies, that's why you see in many cases butchered games we loved in those 16bit systems! I would love to play those on my nes they are and look really nice! Well done to those ppl responsible behind those games!
this kinda stuff makes me feel good.
Glad to hear it!
modern engineering and retrospect makes these games easier than they were in the day. I'm glad some of these really do look like killer apps if they had come out in 19XX or something.
0:11 game name ?
As someone who's played through Sam's Journey several times on the C64, i can say anyone who plays it is in for a treat.
I wonder how the 2 versions. compare?
@TheGameBeaters NES has better resolution obviously from what I've seen. Chip tunes seen exactly the same. I'm sure @knightsofbytes can offer more imfo than I can though.
What is the game at 0:19 ?
What is a recommended software to built these 8-bit games in?
NESmaker seems to be the most popular one.
Storage sword has a princess bride scene lol
Totally!
What are the games in the intro?
Sam's Journey was originally on the Commodore 64 before getting an NES port
You are correct! Good call!
The Storied Sword sure looks like The Princess Bride!
I feel like that’s the point of the game. They are doing a nod to it.
@13:00 am I hearing several Sunsoft songs
You could be right.
trophy support and bring to playstation 4 please. I'll buy these.
Thanks for the inclusion! So many creative games still being produced for the NES, and honored to be part of your list. PS... your bribe is in the mail...
You made a game that is really fun so it’s well deserved. As far as that bribe, I hope it’s crabbie patties.
0:00-0:10 what is the name of the game ?thank u
CRT filters never seem to work right on TH-cam unfortunately. I'm watching this on a 4K monitor with the video quality set to the highest and it still looks bad.
Yeah I would imagine at 4K they would look weird. The footage is only capped at 1080p. I try to keep a high bitrate but TH-cam compression can be ruthless.
What's that Mario clone girl at 0:43?
Super Sunny World.
How could you not mention that Storied Sword is inspired by The Princess Bride
I did in my original review of the game. Didn't want to get too redundant. th-cam.com/video/9EPPza_0b9I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WuLyvY56_9pzfciK
Cant believe you dont mention "Malasombra" a strong top 3 game for this 2024
This is the first of hearing of this game. Thanks for the heads up!
17:51 game name please i really apreciate
That one is called Halcyon. Its been in the pipeline for awhile now. Hopefully comes out soon!

Is there anything NES like Doom/Quake?
As in like 3D FPS? Kind of but its just a prototype so far...
Nice video but it's a real shame not to be able to hear the music! This is really a big part of these games.
noted! Thanks for the feedback!
Wait, what games are these?? 15:00, 17:44, 17:51 & 17:58 Great Video!
17:44 is Courier. It is on Kickstarter now.
@@Jagasian Thanks for the heads up :]
Sams journey looks more like kid chameleon than Mario
That's a totally fair comparison!
Everybody except Nintendo loved this.
lol
Why wasn’t Courier included?
Hadn't had time to properly look at the game demo when this video was made.
I wish somebody would make a homebrew lacrosse video game for the Sega or NES.. I prefer the saga because it could look something like NHL 95 but with lacrosse. I don’t know why somebody hasn’t made that there’s such a huge lacrosse community with maybe three or four games for the ps1&4 m, and Xbox. but they’re crap.

Not sure why you are upset with those guys. I don’t know them personally but have no issues with them. We just do our thing over here. Sometimes we are influenced by other creators but whether we do is because we want to do it. Appreciate your feedback.
Metroidvania galore! 🤮 Way to much!
Not a fan huh? What kind of games do you like on nes?
@@TheGameBeaters old skool games. Metroidvania is to way to over appreciated I think. I the beginning it was a fresh take on a game. But now...
Id love to have House of dead ninja 1 &2 ported and shovel knight
Shovel knight would be awesome.
Any or all 3 ported to snes would make me happy.
What’s the game at 0:18?
What’s the game at 0:01 ?
It’s called Gunhawk
