I really like the detail of the cape! Another thing that supports the fact that cape can never cast a shadow and is made of light is when your sky kid is extinguished. Your sky kid appears like an empty shell whilst your cape is at a pure white colour, not only that, it's the reason why krills and crabs attack you in the first place. In capeless runs, when the sky kid is extinguished, dark creatures actually ignore you, but that's different if you have a cape-something that is made of light, of course. As for the sky kids, I think they're not purely made out of light, rather, it's just their life source, like a heart! Many creatures in sky thrive because of light, but there is an exception like in very dark areas, like krills and crabs that likely adapted to the absence of light, but has also developed an aggression and hunger from any creature that is made of light-they need to have something to replenish their energy of course, like us sky kids whenever we run out of flaps. Quite confusing, but to keep it simple, Krills and crabs have better survivability in darker areas because they have adapted to the conditions, but still need a source of energy. A factor that supports this is the crabs in a seperated island in Sanctuary (not the ones in the caves). They show no aggression because they have light everywhere, unlike caves, Eden and Wasteland where it's just... darkness. With that out of the way, I think sky kids are made out of clay. Their bodily appearance is quite dark, which reminds me of dark clay pots, so not the natural or pure ones-in fact, I believe that the spirits have made these sky kids out of desperation to save themselves, and then proceeded to ask for the elders' help to bring them to light. Although failed, I believe that the elders have a lot more empty shells of sky children, hoping that someday, everything will be back. A bit of a darker interpretation of the elders (sorry forest mama), actually. *Spoilers beneath this line* When our sky kid is about to die in Eden, they appear like the statues in Point of No Return. The statues-in which could be the previous sky children, have a core-like blue light (turns into yellow/white once given a winged light), which sort of supports my theory that sky kids are made of a hard material (clay is my choice, but there are more materials and minerals out there) whilst having light as a life source.

Oh yessss! I have always noticed how cape never casts a shadow and I assumed because cape is light and light never casts shadows. And, even I noticed how crabs never attack you when you have lost your light. In fact, sanctuary mountain crabs or any other crabs don't attack you when you're already attacked once and are lying down. Once you stand up, only then they attack again. i personally like to think that the sky kids' physical appearance resembles a matchstick, as in their while their main body is of a dark color their hair, clothing, and accessories are all made of light which kind of gives the impression of a lit matchstick; and when a sky kid gets extinguished, they appear dark grey with black flecks like a matchstick that has been put out

Another detail is that if you look at the throne of the wasteland elder in the last level of vault (5:52), you can see there's cracks on it, might've mean the war conflict's damage on them ->-
Oh! I noticed something too, the one before the cracked one, it’s split in half. Probably meaning the elder that was in the wasteland was killed somehow, and their candle got completely destroyed, meaning they can’t resurrect anymore. I have another thing to back this up, when you lose winged light, and it ends up disappearing, you see it split in half down the middle. :O
When I first started playing the game I thought that sky kids were blind (or at least can't see very well) because they immediately stretch out their arms when close to an obstacle - even when they are not directly facing it. This is most likely not true but this idea now lives rent free in my head as a personal headcanon.
Hmm, if the skykid is not wearing a mask, then their eyes are closed. When wearing a mask, it appears something like brightly glowing eyes. Perhaps the mask has "magic properties" that allow skykids to see? Could the mask be a gift from the Elders (perhaps even from the Elder of Eden!) that the skykids need in order for them to free and save the Elders? I know the theory is weird and dumb but I like it lol

Okay, when I finally found out about the Journey reference, I remembered my theory that both Sky and Journey took place in the same universe. I mean, a lot of people have thought about this, but whatever. Personally, I feel like Journey would take place after Sky because many of the buildings are destroyed and barren as well as SEVERAL similar things. It could also be that the Sky children evolved before abandoning their light in order to live on with the scarves. The creatures may have changed too. The Mantas, Jellyfish and Butterflies became the same scarf material like the protagonist while the Krill turned into large, stone monsters. Eye of Eden can be also be seen, but it has turned into a snowy tundra instead of literal Hell which also ends with our protagonist being reborn. It’s been years since I’ve played Journey so yeah, a lot of my reasons are a little stale.

This one may be a bit late, but the shorter your sky kid is in size, the more close they run to a chibi run. The taller kids usually run more straight up. :]

I think it’s because our cape is only formed when we have collected winged light. Think back to the very beginning of Sky, when you start as a moth with no cape, and the cape materialises when we collect our first ever winged light, meaning that the cape is probably made out of what we collected 🤗✨ I’m not 100% about the sky kids, and whether they are also made of light, but we know that the capes are made of winged light (the shiny people) 🥰❤️ It’s a really interesting point to discuss though! If the sky children ARE made of light, how come they have a shadow? 🤔 I’m not really sure either 😅❤️❤️
Next time anyone is at the Forgotten Ark study the design & details on the ark it shows you the flood story 😉 I pay attention to things like that in games & movies as they tend to give you bits of info that's been twisted & covered in history called myths & legends or conspiracy theories 🤔😏 even to the huge trees in hidden forest of you look on the trees they have etchings carved showing teleporting of interdimensional spirit's & travel associated with interestingly sasquatch. And have you noticed how the trees, broken ones to resemble giants arms & hands 😲 the ancient race of nephilim! Look up the spirit's of ancient trees the Ceasars of God its quite beautiful & interesting. I know some are thinking sasquatch!?🤔 yes I've got years of research & studying into the sasquatch & there's alot of resemblance with certian things. To much to list here without writing a book in the comments lol Ohhhhh & in sky notice how the boats looks like a coffin in shape! In Prarie go to the cave go through the portal were the green water is & that boat floating in the water with the candles in it is a good example if anyone wants to check it out. yes, skykids are made of light, but they also have a dark shell (skin) to protect light from damages. so i think our avatars can cast a shadow
