I love his honesty in his interviews, they are refreshing. His voice is definitely a gift, I think he saved the show and if they listened to his criticisms, they would probably be the best drama on TV today. He's right, I agree with the things he said were stupid, because they were!
Isn't it astonishing that what is arguably the second most iconic vampire in the popular imagination came out of a faltering 1960's gothic television soap opera!
I remember running home from school to watch Dark Shadows. One time I went to a fancy diner and he was sitting in the booth behind me and my friend. I knew it was him. I did not talk to him because I was starstruck.
However if he played a typical mailman in regular clothes or similar, we'd never be enthralled with Frid, and we'd all have forgotten Dark Shadows. Him being the perfect vampire is what did it. So it's not really J. Frid it's Barnabas we loved.
I love this man. ❤
He’s the king. Hands down
Great interview. Appreciate the lack of interviewer interupting.
Amazing Jonathan Frid
that scen was epic, when Maggie admits she married another instead of Barnabas, it was heart breaking
Beautiful charisma & presence legendary Actor Jonathan Frid✨ such magnetic power as Barnabas Collins.-🕯
I love Jonathan Frid ! He was a gifted actor and sweet !
So awesome

I grew up watching the show. One of the best in lifetime. I'm 56 yrs old.
I KNOW WE ALL GET OLD and its normal but for some reason it bothers me that he got older.
Loved Jonathan Frid as Barnabas

Great I nterview

Wow you should have said something as you left, although I don't know what.
It made him famous, he is the only vampire !!!!
An incredibly talented, humble guy. Even his bloopers were priceless and humanized his vapirism, lol. He went up - he forgot his lines.
He did save the show. If there were no Barnabas Collins, no one would remember Dark Shadows.
In the rare case when a vampire forgets his line, that's when you make your escape! -- How to be a vampire victim and live to tell about it.
Thanks you
I would like to know which scene he was talking about, when he talks about editing an episode.
+RickTBL It was an episode around 300-315. He was in the drawing room & he said "Jeremiah" when Burke & Vicky announced their plan.
YES.
I'm not sure of the episode number, but I think it's a scene with Barnabas and Burke Devlin at the Blue Whale.
That’s not the scene he’s describing here. But that scene, too, is one of his avowed favorites.
