Great interview, Mike. I feel better knowing why Dominic passed on Homecoming. Makes absolute sense, and while I missed him he definitely made the correct decision as far as his life now. I rewatch the original seasons before watching Homecoming. (I do not think I've seen any season after its original airing.) I was not surprised that Aaron did not participate. Aaron was more troubling back then than a lot of people may remember. There is no way Aaron wanted to discuss certain clips of himself. I wonder how the producers would have fit Aaron and Dominic in with everything else. They left so much that was taped out anyway.

@@LoveableNiki it was quit obvious what they passed on the opportunity but the more authentic people are usually the ones who don’t want the attention.

I was expecting them to go in order, but heard they shot New Orleans. (No hate on that. I hope David sings "Cmon, Be My Baby Tonight".) I wonder who on San Fran does not want to come back. I think Rachel is pregnant, but I wonder if she would leave her children to live with Puck again. I wonder if anyone wants to live with Puck again. I know the producers would definitely want him.

Wait, how did Irene’s son know that she needed a drink? Lol, Jon 😂

Irene and Jon will never understand race relations.
Also, utilizing Irene being of Latina decent or his adoptive black child and volunteering in Africa have no bearing on the actual point that was being made. They actually proved Tammy’s point.

I wish that John didn't take over this interview I wanted to hear more of Irene and what she had to say.

If it were not for crazy Beth S, toxic Tami and David situation the show would have been boring. They were the focus of the show, in 1993 and now

I can't believe these people spent the first 20 minutes of this podcast whining and complaining about everything to do with the show. They should be happy that they are collecting a fat paycheck for sitting around doing nothing. Irene is more boring than watching paint dry.

Is it true that Dom was going to make a guest appearance instead of Eric Nies but backed out?

I preferred David to Tami on the homecoming. There was one episode where Tami asks him to pick up all the eggshells that he's making people walk on...he was being ridiculous that episode about the smoking thing. I know I smoke cigarettes and I sure don't want anything to do with marijuana blown my way because I get paranoid it's in my system then and where I live it's still (I don't know all the rules..but it's no Colorado) pretty illegal so that's a problem for a lot of things if it shows up. But other than that....I think David grew up more than Tami. I think Tami was more likable before all that fame actually. I almost think Tami is more immature now than when she was first on the real world.

Tami was playing a character she knew how to react and what sound bites to give.

No shade at all, but I still do not care for Irene. The less she said, the better.

They needed money and Tami helped them get a bag and a blue check. You’re welcome.

Irene added nothing to the show, in 1993 and in 2021. She doesn't seem like a very self-aware person, which is probably why she's been married 4 times and divorced 3 times. She needs to realize that she was never a compelling or interesting character. She quit and left the show halfway through the first time, so imo she shouldn't even have been allowed back. She's lucky that she received the fat paycheck for contributing nothing to the Homecoming besides saying the N word, which was highly inappropriate and something that someone who is 50++ should know by now. Now, all she can do is complain about the lighting, the climate, the house, etc. No one forced her to do this. She doesn't seem like she's done any growth, and is still the boring, selfish person she was 30 years ago.

The LA homecoming did feel lacking of any real life updates and focused on fighting without any real conversations around the issues talked about. As far as Beth’s husband hipaa laws would prevent that from being discussed of TV.
But the further the show moved away from documentary the less authentic the show has become in the early seasons it was following the lives outside of the house and pursuing their careers, but it seems like producing got lazy.
It’s easy to keep the cast in the house and restrict their movement and focus on drama than it is to have to work to clear locations in advance and follow relationship dynamics.
But it’s like what was said in the Eric Nies interview when the cast is having fun, the viewer can have fun watching the show when there’s too much negativity it turns the viewer off.
But I’d long suspected Tami was playing a character.
To truly understand the show the viewer has to have an open mind and willingly to try to understand the other perspectives.

Hippa laws don't matter if you give consent or you're talking about it yourself. You're allowed to talk about your own health lol.

@@suigeneris6397 actually they do matter as was the case with Danny on New Orleans to have used the living with HIV story line would likely have exposed the person who gave him HIV, that would be a violation, and the networks are very risk averse so they’d avoid any potential issues by avoiding it altogether.
Yes it’s lazy producing but the networks have some approval over storylines.

I wasn't surprised Dom and Aaron passed on Homecoming. Sure, it would've been interesting to see them, especially considering they haven't had anything to do with the show -- not even so much as a book -- since production of TRW L.A. wrapped. It was but a chapter of their lives. They did it, they closed it, they moved on, and they never looked back. I can't help but respect that.
